Thursday Thirteen: Leo and Cecil Edition

THURSDAY THIRTEEN!!

YAY it's THURSDAY! That means it is CECIL BLOGGY DAY!! I hope you are as excited as I am!

Today I am going to share my Thursday 13 with Leo the Lion! Mommie says that he is my big brother who went to the bridge before me. She says I probably would have bugged him a lot, but that he would have taken care of me anyway. So I am going to let Leo have half of my 13: he will say 7 things about himself and then I will say 6 things I did this week!

Fanks Cecil, this is a very nice purrthday gift to give me. I am excited to post on your blog! I hope that everyone likes me! Here we go....

I am my Mommie's first cat.
I raised Timby, my Grandma's cat, acause Mommie and I still lived with her when he came home (Mommie was only 13 years old). He eventually gotted way bigger than me!
I like to stand up tall like a mongoose.
I was really sad when my Mommie lefted for college without me. I tried to sneak away in one of her boxes. I am glad she eventually moved out of her freshman dorm into an apartment and broughted me to her! We were never meant to be apart!
I really love to lay in the sunbeams!
I also really love to lay on top of nice warm, clean laundry when it comes out of the dryer!
And sometimes I like to make funny faces. Do you like my funny face? My ear is doing something funny too!

And now let me bring your attention back to me, CECIL THE COUGAR!

Here are 6 fun things I did this week!

I made a MESS of my food bowls!
Made super stinky poops so that Mommie had to clean my litter box early! Here I am telling Mommie, "go on maid, clean the box and add new litter!"
I went out onto the screened in patio and looked at things!

I saw a lot of GREEN:
I acted cute for the camera so that Mousie would continue to fink I am Cexi Cecil
I put big bitey marks into Mommie's lotion so that now it comes out in many different places. I thought this would be helpful, but Mommie wasn't too happy.
...and the fing I did most was fink about how grateful I am to everyone who encouraged Mommie to let me stay! It is taking me a long time to fank each person individually acause I am doing it in secret. I went over to Zoolatry and they helped me find some really cool outfits since I am now in the Secret Cat-Service!

Did I fool you??? These are very good disguises!!!

Leo's Story

Hi everycat!

As you know, I will be making my Thursday 13 tomorrow, and I is very very excited! A special guest will also be making a Thursday 13 on my bloggie tomorrow... I cannot tell you who it is just yet!

I wanted to make this special post because Mommie has been feeling a little bit sad this past week. See this Saturday, May 3rd, would be Leo the Lion's 10th purrthday. I fink many of you know that Leo is the Great Kitty who Came Before Me. She was looking through some old pictures last night and also came across Leo's story that she wrote so that she would never, ever forget.

Leo had Chronic Renal Failure. Everyone who is signed up for the Mewsletter will be able to read all about this common disease in the issue that comes out at Midnight tonight.

But Mommie wants to post Leo's story. She wonders if anyone else has dealt with a kitty who has CRF and what kind of treatments they were/are on. If you have time, you can read Leo's story here. Mommie finally feels ready to talk about it, but she doesn't know anyone else who has experienced this before. She figured the blogosphere was the best place to find someone to talk to.

Hi Everycat and their Mommies!

Fanks so much for all of your kind words! Mommie and I feel so incredibly blessed to know all of you, and yes we really do feel like we know each of you. Fanks to all of my best friends in the CB and fanks to all of my friends who came out from lurking to e-mail me and Mommie.

Mommie had to take some time to decide what she was going to do. She really never ever ever wanted to stop helping me blog, and she didn't know how she would stop reading your blogs!

So we will continue being a part of your world!!! Fanks to everyone soooo much for helping me change Mommie's mind! All day yesterday when she looked at me she saw all of your faces. What did everyone do for Fashion Friday or Formally Feral Friday? We was very sad not to know.

So this is what we has decided for now: we will blog every week for Thursday Thirteen and will tell 13 things I has done during the week! We will also make a effort to visit all of your blogs as often as possible, without certain people noticing ;)

Hi Everyone,

This is my last post.

I am really sorry to leave the cat blogosphere behind. I have been truly inspired by your generosity towards each other, and I feel blessed to have been a part of this for the past couple months.

I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and will miss blogging tremendously. It has been a very fun past couple of months. I feel like I know all of you and your "mommies." The internet has a great ability to bring people with common interests together. Sometimes I feel like I have more in common with each of you, then some of the people in my real life... it's so true that only other cat-people can understand each other.

I will still be running Feline Direct and still sending out the Mewsletter. Unfortunately the personality of Cecil the Cougar is going away. There are people in my life who do not understand this hobby... I am not sure how I will go about continuing Phi Theta Gatos. I will have to speak to Crystal (Moki's mom regarding it). I will not let it disappear, but it may have to undergo some changes.

I will miss you all and be constantly wondering how you are doing.

Why Own a Cat?

When it comes to The Cat, there's a danger you know.
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger

One cat is no trouble, and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey
The fifth is delightful, the sixth one's a breeze.
You find you can live with a houseful, with ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy, but Oh Lord, the hair!
With cats on the sofa and cats on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, its no bother, you said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more cat and one more crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty.
The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty.

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few nose prints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a kitten, you can always find room.
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the cats you can add
The thought of a cutback, sure makes you sad.
Each one is special, so useful, so funny,
The food bill grows larger, you owe the vet money.

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other cat folks, who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died and your shrubs are dead, too.

Thankful Thursday:

I has only been a part of the blogosphere for a couple months now, but I am so amazed at how close everyone is. What Cat Friends Helping Friends is doing is wonderful, and is inspired by all of you who came to each others rescue; came to the aid of a stranger whose face you only recognize as a tabby cat or a tuxie or a ginger, a meezer or even a curly cat. I am so fankful to be a part of this, because the world is going crazy but because of the cat blogosphere Mommie and I know there are still lots of selfless people left.

(I fink maybe you can tell Mommie wrote a lot of that paragraph, but I agree!)

I would like to especially fank all the cats who has joined Phi Theta Gatos!

Hi Everyone, here I am again!

I'M BAAACCCKKK!

Has you missed me? I has missed everyone very much! So much has gone on since last Thursday! I was so scairt and then relieved to hear about Mom Laura and the kitties!

So you may be wondering what I has been up to during this M.I.A. session Mommie made me go through. Well, firstly you should know that I did everyfing I could to try to post. I even asked Daddy's help, but he is not so much into this "cat blogging deal that you and your Mommie are into."

Here I am on Daddy's chair, asking nicely:

"Peas help me blog, I am so sad and pathetic without my furriends!"

No luck.

So then I resorted to just moping around for a couple days. Then I thought of a plan!

If I steals Mommie's Starbucks and sit on her papers she will haf to help me blog! How can she do school stuffs with no caffine and no papers?! I was finking that I was a genius and this is why I do not have to go to schools...

But then I look over .....

And what do I see?
Mommie has many more papers and big books over there.

After another day of hard contemplation, I came up with a new plan! I will go INSIDE the computer itself, find where the innernets hide in it and blog myself!

So I made my way inside of the computer, but I could not find the innernets.

I did find that the computer has a couch inside of it though!

None of my plans worked out too well. I wish I could have called up my furriend Boy, because he is a Genius and I bet he could have thought of a good plan. But I do not know how to use the fellytone.

So I am really hoping that you all have not forgotted me, or hate me because I has not been visiting you. I really, really wanted to!! Maybe, if you is not mad at me, we can play a quick game of Eskimo together?

Thirteen fings about me, Cecil:

I was born on August 28, 2007. This means that I is now 7 whole months old!

HEY YOU!

Don't I look very big and mancatly for my age?
I really love to give the big bitey to Mommie's bras.

I gets them out of the laundry and drag them all over the house!

Mommie gets embarrassed when visitors see me chomping on them!
Daddy gave me the nickname, "Your Cat." He usually uses this nickname to refer to me when I do something naughty. For instance he says to Mommie, "Your Cat chewed a hole in my new shirt." or "Your Cat took a stinky poopie" (he uses more colorful words that I am not allowed to say) or "Look at what Your Cat broke!"
Mommie wrote a poem about me. It goes like this:
"Cecil Wecil pudding pie kissed the girls and made them cry!"

I am not sure what girls Mommie finks I has kissed though, because that is gross! COOTIES!

The only girl I pucker up for like this is Mommie cause she gives the Temptations!

Sometimes I even gets a bit shy visiting girl bloggies like Daisy, Parker, SophieKitty and all my other girl cat furriends
I has excellent teefs and use them to give the Big Bitey a lot to Mommie and Daddy.
Sometimes if Mommie walks past my litter box when I am pooping, I will run out to play with her even if I am not done. Then I drag my butt along the tile floor until I get to her.
I talk to Mommie and Daddy a lot. Mommie says this is because my Grandma-cat is a Meezer.
I has very nice stripes, I fink you will agree.
I has only hissed one time in my whole entire life. This was at the groomers when they viciously clipped my nails while telling me I was a nice kitty. I showed them!
My best friend is a penguin named Mr. Penguin. I call him Penguin when i am mad at him.
I do not have any brothers and sisters.
I really like to go inside the refrigerator and pretend I am an Eskimo.
It is my dream to go to Disney World and meet the Giant Mousie! I would like to give him my Super Duper Big Mancat Cecil Bitey!

Good Morning!

Today Nermal has tagged me for a meme. Fanks Nermal, I fink that I was the last kitty in the blogosphere who has not been tagged for this great meme yet! I am glad to be joining the distinguished Literate Kitty group.

So there is two books very close to me: The Power Elite and The Complete Encyclopedia of Cats. I am wondering which one would be more interesting to post from. It is a very hard decision.

My New Jungle Gym

Hi Everycat,

So if you remember, yesterday I says that Mommie got me a new toy for helping her study! Well, here it is, my amazing new jungle gym:

You can see that it comes in brown and green which are the natural colors of a jungle. It also has a small palm tree on the side which gives it a tropical jungle feel.

My Mommie says to me, "Cecil I got you something on clear-ants at Target." And I am finking, Mommie I do not want anyfing to do with clear ants. I will not be able to see them and they will give ME the bitey! I was really finking that my Mommie lost her mind. But as far as I can tell there are no clear ants on my jungle gym. So I is not sure what Mommie was talking about...

But playing on my new jungle gym is very fun...and also very exhausting. After you climb in all the holes and whap all the green things you will become very tired.

Hi Everybody!

Here I is:

I hope that you were not missing me toooo much! My Mommie is a college bean (she is graduating with her BA in December!) and has exams right now. This means that she is not letting me get on the computer as much. It is not very nice of her, but I am a considerate little cat. She is not so considerate. She does not understand how I miss my furriends when I am not on the computer. But that is ok. So since I cannot gets on the computer, I has been helping her study.

To help your Mommie or Daddie study there are certain steps you has to take. The most important one is to be on the look out for any distractions. Here I am being a good scout:

Nothing is going to interrupt MY Mommie while I is on duty.

Sometimes you can get a little sleepy working so hard and maybe it is ok to let your eyes close just a little bit... As long as your ears are still alert.

Sometimes you will have to let out a big yawn. I have heard it is not good to keep them in. Just let it right out.

And then maybe sometimes you will fall asleep.... this is not good, but it may happen. When this happens then your Mommie will get a BIG distraction. The distraction is that you look so cute sleeping she has to document it.

Silly Mommie! Do your work!

Mommie says that even though I fell asleep I is still a good little helper. You will not believe the present she got me for being so helpful! I will shows you tomorrow...

Revisiting the Litterbox...

After my post on Sunday about my new litter, many of you has told me that crystal litter may not be good. My Mommie got scairt that she was poisoning me, so we did a little researches about litter.

After researching many websites, I has found that crystal litter does not cause significantly more health problems than clay litter. The myth that crystal litter can harm us kitties if it is ingested is not true. This myth stems from the belief that crystal litter and silica gel based litter is the same thing. Although the two types of litter look similar they are very different; silica based litter is made from the same ingredients that those little “do not eat” packets are made from that you find in many products to help maintain freshness.

Some facts about Crystal Litter:

Crystal litter actually produces LESS dust than clay litter and therefore can be healthier for your cat. If your cat is a real digger in the box, he or she may inhale dust from the clay litter and develop what is called “clay lung.” If you are using a clay litter, you may want to look for a “dust free” formula to prevent this.

Crystal litter absorbs urine faster and longer than clay litter. It is biodegradable, flushable, easy to clean up and best of all NON-TOXIC.

Crystal litter can control odors in a litter box for up to 30 days in a one cat household (if stirred every couple days).

Many cats will refuse to use crystal litter due to the texture of the crystals underneath their paws.

There have been a couple instances where a crystal has been lodged inside the eye of a cat due to overly vigorous digging activities. However it should be stated that the same thing can happen with clay litter or any other object/toy that is lying around your house or yard.

I hope that I have debunked some of the myths behind crystal litter, although preference is up to each cat. Personally I am really liking the crystal litter, but may try Feline Pine as well.

Fat Cats & Baby...

Today we must honor Baby the Cat. Baby has gone to the rainbow bridge after 38 years of being his mom and dads baby. Baby is named as the oldest feline by Cat Fancy. Baby was rescued from a garage as a little tiny baby cat.

Baby was certainly in very good health conditions. What is worrying to me is that some of us is not in such good conditions. According to this article, mousies are no longer scairt of us because we is too fat to chase them. I am not very sure this is true because us mancats had a mousie hunt party this weekend, and we caughted a mousie and a mole! We also burped and pooped in the great outdoors. Because that is what MANcats do. Burp and Poop. And catch mousies.

Oh and lastly but most importantly, today is my Auntie Bea's birthday, not to be confused with Auntie Bee. Both Auntie B's love cakes and Cecil Cougars though!
