Today, I’m excited to share with you an interview from one of Bali’s top wedding specialist, Yuka Koreyasu. Yuka is Founder of Tirtha Bridal in Uluwatu, Bali.

Q. Why is Bali the perfect location for a dream wedding?

A. The people, the culture, the spirit of the island. Bali is so beautiful and also easy to get to.

Q. In Bali, there is no such thing as a standard wedding. What is your inspiration?

A. I am originally from Japan, where we have a strong tendency towards ethereal beauty, so it is no coincidence that I ended up in Bali, my inspiration is a mix of Japanese and Balinese aesthetics.

Q. What is the best part about creating a dream wedding Bali style?

A. People crying with joy during touching ceremonies.

Q. What is the most memorable wedding you have staged?

A. A wedding where the father of the bride played the guitar as his daughter walked down the aisle. It was such a beautiful moment that everyone including the bride and the bridesmaids wept tears of joy. The ceremony was temporarily halted while the bridal party went back to redo their makeup.

Q. What are the biggest challenges you face?

A. Dealing with different cultures and different ways of thinking.

Q. Describe your own scenario for a dream wedding in Bali…

A. It would be understated , not a cliché…..It would be for everyone to enjoy – too often people think just about themselves and the guests get left behind.

Q. What represents your unique style of the weddings you design?

Prop… White posy. The posy symbolizes a Tirtha wedding; the flowers are beautiful, exotic, fresh and carefully selected, daintily wrapped in a sleek ribbon.

Style… A wedding at Tirtha is simple and elegant. Many people are not really sure what they want; we help guide them.

Background… in the fashion industry, working at Hugo Boss. When my husband started Tirtha, I joined him and discovered a natural aptitude for the wedding business.

If I wasn’t a wedding specialist… I would be still working in fashion.

Here are seven ways for you to savor Sakala:

SEA SPORTS such as para sailing, water skiing, or scuba diving take place right off the beach in front of Sakala. All that action is bound to leave you hungry and ready to indulge in a gourmet pool side lunch. SHAKE it up on the dance floor as you pick your favourite music from a list of nightly entertainment, and enjoy the magic of the night with a stylish modern bar that gleams like crystal, and a super cool lighting system that illuminates the venue in swirls of colour.

SWEET SURRENDER is the only way to face Decadence, an indulgence of the highest order with seven dainty desserts infused with Chocolate Valrhona Grand Cru 70 % bitter, such as pistachio coated truffle, lush brulee, a delicate savarin, and a divine orange praline marzipan.

Are you planning a wedding in Bali? While Bali may be the ultimate destination for a dream wedding in paradise, it’s a paradise governed by laws nonetheless. As a result, if you want your wedding to be legally recognized, then you need to comply with a few certain requirements, but don’t worry…we’ve got you covered!

Most importantly, your faith must be one of the five faiths recognized by the Indonesian government – Islam, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic or Protestant. Furthermore, both the bride and groom must be of the same faith. Listing two different faiths or no faith is NOT an option.

Once religion is squared away, now it’s time to get all the necessary documents in order. With the exception of Muslim marriages, a ‘Notice of Intention to Marry’ must be filed with the Civil Registry Office in the regency that you are staying in, and a ‘Certificate of No Impediment’ must be prepared by your Consulate or Embassy. Some officiants or venues in Bali include this in their service prices, but enlisting the help of an agent or wedding planner can also help smooth the way, leaving you more time to relax, enjoy the natural beauty of the island, or indulge in a little retail or spa therapy.
