On Saturday (Jan. 28), blues singer Etta James was laid to rest in in Gardena, California, and at the family's request, Christina Aguilera attended the home- going celebration and honored the singer with a stirring rendition of "At Last".

On Tuesday (Jan. 24), Brad Pitt scored the fourth Academy Award nomination of his career and now, the stud reflects on the low points of his career, including heavy drug use and depression, in the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

I got a chance to read the article in full and we learn quite a bit about the doting father of six and his life with Angelina Jolie. Read some of the highlights below:

On His Knee Injury:
“I think George went down the line, making things up. I was just walking in our backyard, on a hill, carrying my daughter, and I slipped — and it was those parental instincts: me or her. And she’s fine.”

On Depression & Drug Use:
“I got really sick of myself at the end of the 1990s: I was hiding out from the celebrity thing; I was smoking way too much dope; I was sitting on the couch and just turning into a doughnut; and I really got irritated with myself. I got to: ‘What’s the point? I know better than this.’ I used to deal with depression, but I don’t now, not this decade — maybe last decade. But that’s also figuring out who you are. I see it as a great education, as one of the seasons or a semester: ‘This semester I was majoring in depression.’ I was doing the same thing every night and numbing myself to sleep — the same routine: Couldn’t wait to get home and hide out. But that feeling of unease was growing and one night I just said, ‘This is a waste.’

On Marrying Angelina Jolie:
"We’d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”

On Family Expansion:
“We haven’t closed the book on it. There’s a really nice balance in the house right now, but if we see the need and get that lightning bolt that says, ‘We can help this person; we could do something here,’ then absolutely.”

Earlier today (January 26), the nominations for the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards were finally revealed and Kenny Chesney led the pack with 9 nominations including Entertainer of the Year, followed by Jason Aldean with 6.

Stunning songstress Ashanti has released another promotional photo from her forthcoming fifth studio album, which will be released in late spring/early summer.

The nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards are in. 'Hugo' led the bunch with an astounding 11 nominations, followed by 'The Artist' with 10 and 'Moneyball' and 'War Horse' with 6 a piece including Best Picture nominations.

As expected, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Meryl Streep and Viola Davis all landed nominations for their lead roles, but the list also included surprises Gary Oldman, Rooney Mara and scene-stealer Melissa McCarthy.

Some of the huge snubs included Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton and Mary J. Blige, who was considered a lock for Original Song.

Talking exclusively to Star in her first interview since giving birth, Beyonce Knowles told us she had an "instant connection" with her daughter Blue Ivy.

Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy earlier this month and the singer admitted the experience was overwhelming.

She told us: "Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found.

Beyonce revealed Jay-Z is equally excited about being a father and said they couldn't wait to bring their daughter home.

The Crazy In Love singer, 30, gave birth to the couple's first child Blue Ivy on January 7 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

According to UK Star magazine, she also defended their incredibly tight hospital security, saying it was necessary for the safety of their newborn.

Beyonce said: "Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found."

The former Destiny's Child star, who revealed Kelly Rowland cannot wait to babysit, also confirmed that Jay-Z was in the room during the birth.

"He is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father."

He has claimed the stress of his wife Rosalyn delivering two premature girls was trebled when Beyonce's bodyguards allegedly barred him from the sixth-floor neonatal intensive care unit.

But Beyonce says she will always "put her children first", adding: "The key for me is to work everything around your children and not the other way."

She also stressed life will be "normal" for Blue as they are "a normal, loving family" who just happen to be in the public eye.

"At home, she’ll be part of a normal, loving family with a loving mom, a loving dad, a loving aunt and loving grandparents, just like any other kid."
