Max Minghella has the chops and the heritage – son of directing great Anthony Minghella (The English Patient), Max stood ground next to Ryan Gosling in Ides of March. He also got the thumbs up for his role as Zuckerberg-rival Nivva Darendra in The Social Network.

Ashley Rickards, of MTV’s “Awkward,” has inked a book deal with Harlequin. The actress will be writing a self-help book for teens titled “Get Your Sh!t Together.”

The book is said to be a mix of Rickards’ personal stories and her own tips for teens. The stories will include Rickards personal tales of being bullied as a child and getting kicked out of Girl Scouts. The book will also offer fashion, relationship and health advice.

“Despite her meteoric success, Ashley Rickards is relatable, down-to-earth, and wise beyond her years,” said editor Rebecca Hunt. “Her insight, empathy and guidance will help young women worldwide wade through any and all awkward phases and come out better on the other side.”

“Get Your Sh!t Together” will hit bookshelves in Spring 2015. In the meantime, you can catch Rickards on “Awkward,” which returns to MTV on October 22.

Taylor Momsen is featured in the November 2013 issue of Maxim magazine. The Pretty Reckless front-woman strips down and talks about feeling sexy and what the future holds for her.

Momsen says she feels sexiest when she’s on stage.

“It’s less about what I’m wearing and more about feeling powerful while performing,” she said. “That gets my blood flowing.”

She may have become well-known as an actress, but Momsen said she’s put acting behind her.

“I’ve been making music since I can remember, and a few years ago I got to a place where I had a band and could quit acting; that was my day job,” she said. “I was 12 when I signed on to ‘Gossip Girl,’ and since then I’ve had two records, toured with Guns n’ Roses…I mean, it feels like a different world.”

Chad Michael Murray has joined the second season cast of “Chosen,” an action-thriller series from online streaming service Crackle.

The series follows a man named Ian Mitchell (Milo Ventimiglia), who is forced to become an assassin to save his own daughter’s life. In season two, Ian will come across others who have been placed in the same deadly situation, one being Murray’s character Jacob Orr. Jacob is a bartender who has to make the choice of killing an innocent family or letting his own brother die.

“Chosen” also stars Nicky Whelan and Brett Davern. Brandon Routh and Sarah Roemer will also be joining the cast.

Production on the show’s second season will wrap later this month. The show will return to Crackle with six half-hour episodes later this year.

Fox has picked up an unscripted comedy, produced by Steve Carell. “Slide Show” is a game show that has celebrities and comedians battling against each other.

“Slide Show” will have two teams going up against each other in showdowns that test both mind and body, and will force contestants to think on their feet. Challenges involve songs, dancing and sketches, all while navigating the set which is on a 22.5-degree angle tilt.

“I think unscripted television should be outrageous and audacious by definition. Unfortunately, not much is, as of late,” Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said. “‘Slide Show’ is the most ridiculously fun and out-there thing I’ve seen in quite a while. Steve Carell knows a thing or two about big laughs, and I am really happy to be working with Steve again, and the team at Shine, to bring Slide Show to Fox.”

“Slide Show” recently launched in France and has already found success in Portugal and Denmark. It will soon launch in Spain, the Netherlands and China.

“Comedy is subjective,” Carell said. “But if you don’t find ‘Slide Show’ to be funny and enormously entertaining, then you will never be my friend.”

Usher shows-off his athletic build on the 25th anniversary cover of Men’s Health. The singer and actor reveals his workout regimen, which was ramped up for his upcoming role as boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in “Hands of Stone.”

“Mentally, I’m the type of person who can ignore the pain. Put it somewhere else and allow my body to just go there,” he tells the magazine. “But I always suffer. You can’t box, ride a bike for 20 miles in the heat—Georgia heat—and then go to the studio and rehearse. That’s not happening.”

But Usher says the role involves much more than physical training.

“My commitment to this character demands that I not only physically get ready, but also become him,” he says. “The hair, the personality, the manner he conducts himself in—all that. He’s an incredible man.”

Steven Spielberg‘s kids have gotten a pretty big supporter for their musical duo Wardell. Sasha and Theo Spielberg have been signed to Jay Z‘s Roc Nation label.

“Sasha and Theo are brother and sister. That familiarity and fondness informs the music that they make together, which is at once warm and summery, comfortable and chill as a result of their Los Angeles upbringing,” the Roc Nation website reads. “It’s the kind of music you’d expect from two people who grew up sharing a wall, infused with that particular intimacy that comes with a life spent knowing each other. And while they draw from a wide range of influences, they have managed to create a sound that is wholly their own.”

Wardell released an EP titled “Brother/Sister” earlier this year through National Anthem. They are currently working on their debut album, which will be released some time next year.

Ian Somerhalder is smouldering on the cover of Icon magazine’s 2013 Men’s Issue. The actor poses in fine suits and talks about starring in a hit television series.

“I obviously feel wonderful about the show,” he said about “The Vampire Diaries.” “It has defined my life for the last four years and will continue to. It is multi-faceted, you know? You get a bit of creative fulfillment, which is incredible, and you also have a tremendous amount of talented people around that become like family. And ultimately, due to the success, we have this exposure level that allows us to influence people. When you have that ear of the public you are able to use that for positive things. I feel like I am able to do that with the great fan base of the show.”

Somerhalder uses that exposure to help his own foundation, which raises funds and awareness for causes including environmental issues and animals.

“It’s not all about saving animals and saving the planet. It’s really about the human condition – what is it that makes us tick and allows environmental degradation and destruction of our planet,” he said. “These are things that align with me as a person, not just a foundation.”

Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling may have a mini “Beverly Hills, 90210” reunion. The pair have both signed on to star in a pilot for ABC Family called “Mystery Girls,”

The show would follow Holly (Spelling) and Charlie (Garth), who are former costars of a popular crime series from the ’90s. They are thrust back into their former roles when a witness of a crime refuses to talk to anyone but Holly and Charlie. Holly is ready to put her acting skills to the test again, but she also has the task of convincing Charlie, who is a suburban housewife and mother, to join her.

Both actresses will also executive produce the series.

“Mystery Girls” is scheduled to being filming in November. If all goes well for the pilot, the show could hit airwaves as soon as next year.
