There is shock, but mostly, tremendous sadness this Wednesday afternoon after it has emerged that beloved “Sopranos” star  James Gandolfini has died.

He was just 51.

 The  New Jersey-bred actor, who delighted audiences as mob boss Tony Soprano in the cult HBO classic, died after suspected massive heart attack while traveling in Rome, a rep for HBO says.

Gandolfini had been scheduled to take part in the Taormina Film Fest in Sicily.

“We’re all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family,” HBO says in a statement. “He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect.

“He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility,” the statement continues. “Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us.“

His managers, Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders, said in a statement: “It is with immense sorrow that we report our client James Gandolfini passed away today while on holiday in Rome, Italy. Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply. He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving.”

Known as a tough guy on the small screen, in real life, Gandolfini had struggled for years before hitting the big time, becoming famous relatively late in his career.

Prior to his breakout role in “The Sopranos”  in 1999, he spent the early part of his career supporting himself as a bartender and nightclub manager.

In a December 2012 interview with The Associated Press, Gandolfini said he gravitated to acting as a release, a way to get rid of anger. “I don’t know what exactly I was angry about,” he said.“I try to avoid certain things and certain kinds of violence at this point,” he said last year. “I’m getting older, too. I don’t want to be beating people up as much. I don’t want to be beating women up and those kinds of things that much anymore.”

The three-time Emmy-winning actor had a lot to smile about of late — his wife, former model Deborah Lin, gave birth to a baby girl last October. [The couple married in Hawaii in 2008.]

Following the birth of his daughter, a spokesperson for the actor said he was “thrilled” at becoming a father again.

He also has a son with his ex-wife, Marcy Wudarski.

He recently starred in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, alongside Steve Carell, Olivia Wilde and Jim Carrey.

“The Sopranos” finale in 2007 was  watched by 11.9 million viewers.

Melissa Etheridge is now setting the record straight on the controversial comments she made regarding Angelina Jolie’s preventive mastectomy.

The singer-songwriter — a breast cancer survivor herself — initially told the Washington Blade that she wouldn’t make the same decision for herself. Nor would she encourage others to do so without properly researching their options.

“I have to say I feel a little differently,” the Grammy-winning singer (who, incidentally, performed at Brad Pitt‘s wedding to Jennifer Aniston) said of the choice to get a preventive mastectomy.

Melissa is setting the record straight on her comments

“I have that gene mutation too, and it’s not something I would believe in for myself. I wouldn’t call it the brave choice. I actually think it’s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer.”

Brad, for his part, addressed the comments on Monday night at the World War Z premiere in New York City, saying: “Melissa’s an old friend of mine. I’m sure we’ll talk on the phone. I don’t know what it is.”

Well, someone must have called her or her people, because she is now singing a somewhat different tune.

“I don’t have any opinion on what she ‘should have’ done,” Etheridge tells Us. “All are free to choose. I only objected to the term ‘brave’ in describing it.”

Speaking of Angelina, she has now dived back into her humanitarian work since completing the operations in April and making her big announcement in May.

The 38-year-old was pictured listening to Syrian refugees in a Jordanian military camp based on the Jordan-Syria border on Tuesday.

Gasp! Brad and Ange checked into hotel rooms as a couple while promoting Mr. & Mrs.Smith

On the subject of Brad and Angelina, one of the least surprising things to emerge this week is, gasp, that they were hooking up while promoting Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005.

A new lawsuit reveals that they were secretly checking into a hotel together and posing as a married couple, when he was still officially married to Jennifer Aniston.

The lawsuit filed by Angelina’s British stunt double Eunice Huthart against Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, has revealed that the pair were enjoying a secret romance during promotions for the film.

Around the time covered by the complaint, the Sun and the News of the World, which closed down in 2011 after revelations of widespread hacking at the title came to light, ran a number of stories on the burgeoning romance between Brad and Angelina.

The lawsuit charges: “On April 1, 2005, while Plaintiff [Huthart] was in Los Angeles, a story appeared in The Sun entitled ‘Brad’s 4M Pad Is Jolie Nice.’ Upon information and belief, no one except Brad Pitt’s bodyguard, Ms. Jolie’s bodyguard, their respective personal assistants and Plaintiff knew that Brad Pitt and Ms. Jolie were now an ‘item.’

“Yet at the end of The Sun, it is stated: ‘Yesterday The Sun exclusively revealed [Brad] and Angelina checked into a hotel posing as a married couple during a weekend trip to plug their new movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith.’”

Meanwhile, on Monday night, Brad partied sans Angelina at Catch in NYC. He was seen celebrating with fans, partygoers and the cast and crew on the launch of World War Z at the after-party hosted by DeLeon Tequila.

The former hunk was sipping on cocktails and taking pictures with fans.

And add yodeling to his lists of “skills”.

The 49-year-old took part in a long-distance singing skit on Tuesday’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” talk show.

Brad and Jimmy engaged in a yodel conversation across New York City rooftops with Brad urging them both to break new ground.

While Sharon beams next to the unsuspecting man, he’s seemingly caught off guard with his eyes closed.

Since being posted on Reddit, the snap has become a viral sensation, garnering thousands of views and comments online. Most viewers found it hilarious, noting it was sweet Stone appeared so happy.

And she does look happy!

According to the Jerusalem Post, the 55-year-old actress was in Israel for President Shimon Peres’ 90th birthday celebration, and was also there to accept an award for her humanitarian efforts at an event hosted by the United Israel Appeal.

And with Kate Middleton’s reported due date July 13, there’s still a lot of preparation that needs to be done ahead of the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child.

The Telegraph reports that the future king or queen will be born in the private Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, where William, who was also born there, will be with his wife throughout the delivery.

The couple have opted not to know the gender of the baby and the child will delivered by Marcus Setchell, the Queen’s former gynaecologist, who will be aided by the Queen’s current gynaecologist Alan Farthing.

According tho the paper’s sources, Kate will not fall into the category of mothers dubbed “too posh to push”, opting for a natural birth over a Caesarian.

The first indication that the Duchess has given birth will come when an aide leaves the hospital carrying a piece of paper with details of the baby’s sex, weight and time of birth, which they will hand to a driver to be taken to Buckingham Palace.

The notice will then be placed on an easel on the forecourt of the Palace for the waiting world to be given its first information about the future king or queen.

Shortly afterwards, the news will be put out on the Palace’s official Twitter feed, though aides stressed that no electronic communication would be made until the public have had a chance to see the official notice, as “it’s important that this is done with a degree of dignity and with half an eye on the historical significance” of the occasion.

Interestingly, if the Duchess gives birth in the middle of the night, no announcement will be made until the Queen has woken, as sources told the paper that they did not expect her to be woken up specially to be told the news.

The sources also confirmed that the Duke will only take two weeks statutory paternity leave before he returns to flying duties with his RAF Search and Rescue squadron in Wales.

Which makes sense that in Life & Style’s latest report, Kate is said to breaking with royal tradition and has decided to spend her first six weeks as a mother in the comfort of her parents’ house.

“The Middletons spared no expense on this nursery,” a family insider tells Life & Style. “It’s a neutral color with a frilly crib and a day bed and overlooks the back garden. Kate’s said she’ll be sleeping in her own room, so they’ve put a crib in that room, too.”

The nursery will certainly have a warm feel and personal touch to it, because Kate and her mom, Carole, have done much of the decorating themselves. They were spotted picking up a $500 Moses basket from London’s Blue Almonds on April 18, and Kate checked out furniture at Kingcome Sofas on June 17.

William wants to make sure his little one is safe and secure, so gates surrounding the Middletons’ estate are being reinforced and adjacent fields will be closely guarded. “Kate and the baby are his first priorities, not tradition and protocol,” a palace insider tells Life & Style. “He wants Kate to be happy and have as much support as she needs.”

William and Kate have so far given no indication as to whether they have chosen names for the baby.

When the Duke of Cambridge was born his name was not announced for a week, reportedly because the Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales could not agree on one.

In Touch is reporting that during a recent father-daughter trip with Suri to the luxe Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., Tom Cruise checked in under the name “Jack Hunt.”

And the actor didn’t have to search too far for creative inspiration. It’s a combination of the names of two of his famous on-screen characters: Jack from his movie Jack Reacher, and Hunt from his Mission Impossible character, Ethan Hunt.

And even though Tom tried to fly under the radar, he still pulled out all the stops to make sure Suri had the time of her life. “Suri seemed very happy,” an employee at the hotel tells the new issue of In Touch.

“They loved the pool,” adds the source. “Tom went in the water but spent a lot of time relaxing and watching Suri swim in the shallow end with other kids. They were having a blast.”

The painting made its live debut in the music video for “These Walls Revisited” produced by Kanye West (with new additional production by Michael A. Smith and Jonathan Hay). The song was revisited at the 10-year anniversary of its release by Nappy Roots, and has since garnered popularity on numerous major hip-hop sites around the world. The auction will begin today, June 19, 2013 and end on July 3, 2013 at 6pm EST.

That is exactly what is on the menu when you attend a dinner party at mom-of-two Cheryl Shuman’s luxury house in Beverly Hills.

Each month, she hosts a dinner party for her equally wealthy friends so that they sample new strains of marijuana and smoke together.

Medicinal marijuana use is legal in California, after all.

These “marijuana moms” want to change the perception of those who like to partake in the odd toke or two, with many of them admitting they smoke marijuana several times a day to relax and cope with chronic pain.

“We’ve all come up against people who say marijuana is for dirty druggies, but we are proof you can be good parents and productive members of society and use it,” Cheryl, 55, said.

A fierce advocate for pot use, Cheryl compared ingesting marijuana on a regular basis to mothers in the 1960s who took “mother’s little helper” pills – Valium – to help them cope with the daily strains of motherhood and running a household, as another parent, January attests to.

“Marijuana makes me a better and more creative parent. It puts me in the moment with Zeena and stops me worrying about everyday problems,” said January, who says she smokes marijuana five times a day while she looks after her two-year-old daughter Zenna.

You would think that after 14 months of marriage you’d expect to be told that your spouse wants a divorce via a lengthy phone call, detailing to you everything that is wrong about the relationship and why the marriage won’t work.

You would think.

But when Russell Brand decided to call it quits with wife, Katy Perry, he just sent a text telling her it was over.

In an interview with Vogue‘s Vicki Woods for the July cover, Katy opens about how the marriage ended and what went wrong.

“He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him,” she says. “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”

The 26-year-old singer and Brand, 38, married in October 2010, after meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Though Brand was the one to file for divorce, Perry said the British comic’s sense of humor was losing its charm on her before then.

“[He's] hysterical in some ways. Until he started making jokes about me and he didn’t know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows,” she tells Vogue. “I mean, I have to claim my own responsibility in things. I do admit that I was on the road a lot. Although I invited him time and time again, and I tried to come home as much as I possibly could. You saw that in the movie [Katy Perry: Part of Me]. That wasn’t edited to leave footage out—there wasn’t any footage of him.”

And probably the biggest problem between the pair proved to be his inability to accept her as his “equal.”

“He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting,” she reveals. “I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me. So, I have moved on from that.”

 As for John Mayer, Katy confirmed that after three attempts to make their relationship work, their romance is now definitely “over’, but she admits to still being in love with him.

“It’s over … I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind,” she says of John.

Adding: “Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”

She still holds out hope of finding Mr Right, saying: “I believe that I will be loved again, in the right way. I know I’m worth it.”

If this is an insight into the marriage of celebrity chef and author Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi, then we don’t like it one bit — it is clearly volatile and dysfunctional.

After the public outcry from the now-infamous “throat-grabbing” incident at a London restaurant on June 9, Saatchi “voluntarily attended a central London police station and accepted a caution for assault” on Monday, a spokesman for Scotland Yard said in a statement.

But here’s the zinger: According to the 70-year-old, who initially downplayed the fight saying it was playful lover’s tiff, Nigella made no complaint about the incident.

“Although Nigella made no complaint, I volunteered to go to Charing Cross station and take a police caution after a discussion with my lawyer because I thought it was better than the alternative of this hanging over us all for months,” Saatchi told London’s Evening Standard.

Saatchi was questioned for five hours over the incident, which took place at seafood restaurant Scott’s.

“Officers from the Community Safety Unit at Westminster were aware of the Sunday People article which was published on 16 June and carried out an investigation,” a Met spokesman said.

Saatchi accepted a caution for assault. (A police caution is a formal warning in the U.K. for minor offenses that carries no penalty.)

Nigella has yet to comment publicly on the incident. Her rep confirmed Monday that she had taken her children and left her home, although it was not known if the move would be permanent.

The couple have been married for ten years.

During the al fresco lunch for Saatchi’s birthday, Nigella, 53, was tearful and Saatchi put both of his hands tightly around her throat. “There was no grip, it was a playful tiff,” the multimillionaire previously explained, saying he was trying to get his point across.

We hate to judge, but it’s really hard not to.

As one onlooker told the Sunday People, who printed the explosive photos: “No man should do that to a woman.”

Today is the big day.

According to In Touch magazine, Kanye has his heart set on one name, while the Kardashian clan, has other ideas entirely.

And we all know the clout of the Kardashians can whip Kanye’s little skirt-wearing butt.

A close friend of Kim’s details their baby-naming battle in this week’s issue of In Touch, on newsstands tomorrow. ”North is at the top of the list of names,” the pal dishes about their bundle of joy’s potential name. “They’re not totally sure about it. Kanye loves it, Kim is okay with it.”

And if Kanye has learned one thing about being part of the Kardashian clan, it’s that they stick together! “The family doesn’t like it [the name],” the insider explains, adding, “They’re going to decide by today [Tuesday].

It’s hard looking at these photos of Alex Minsky to fully comprehend the depths of despair he has delved into.

The 24-year-old U.S. Marine nearly died and spent 47 days in a coma after his truck ran over a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

He then battled with depression and alcoholism. He also lost his younger brother.

He was at the lowest of lows.

Three years on Alex, from Venice Beach, California, is now a rising star in the fashion world after being spotted in the gym by a photographer. 

Incidentally, it was the one day Alex decided to not drink.

He told the Huffington Post: “Photographer Tom Cullis found me in the gym in Newport beach, where I live right now. He tried me out – we did a test shoot – and his photographs got the ball rolling.

Today Alex has left his demons with alcohol at the gym door, embracing a healthy lifestyle.

He goes to the gym twice a day and has been sober for nine months.

He quips: “I can’t drink because I needed to find my abs more! So I can’t drink cause of all those carbs in alcohol!”

Kissy, kissy: LeAnn can’t keep her hands off Eddie

Father’s Day is supposed to entail children showing their unwavering love for their dad.

But for LeAnn Rimes it was just another excuse to indulge in a  PDA session with hunky hubby Eddie Cibrian.

And naturally, she needed to share her latest round of tonsil tennis with the whole wide world.

The 30-year-old singer tweeted a snap of herself kissing Eddie on Father’s Day, which also marked his 40th birthday.

She tweeted: “Happy 40th birthday to my incredible husband and the best father his boys could ever ask for. We all love you baby @EddieCibrian.”

She also posted a photo of her playing happy families with Eddie and his kids, which is bound to wind up his ex-wife Brandi Glanville.

The photos are harrowing for any woman who has been the victim of domestic abuse. And the explanation is not much better either.

 In a series of shocking pictures, British television chef Nigella Lawson appeared to have been choked by her husband  as an argument turned violent during a restaurant outing on June 9.

The 53-year-old chef and her millionaire art dealer husband were out in London to celebrate his birthday at their favorite seafood restaurant Scott’s last Sunday, but the conversation appeared to have turned sour.

Nigella looked tearful as her husband grabbed her neck FOUR times, first with his left hand and then both.

The whole ordeal was chronicled in the series of photos obtained by British tabloid The Sunday People, and horrified onlookers provided details of the nasty spat.

A witness was quoted in the Sunday newspaper as saying: “It was utterly shocking to watch.

“I have no doubt she was scared. It was horrific, really. She was very tearful and was constantly dabbing her eyes. Nigella was very, very upset.

“She had a real look of fear on her face. And yet she kissed him. She appeared to be a woman who loves him but was clearly unable to stop him being abusive, frightening and disrespectful to her.

“No man should do that to a woman.”

However,  Saatchi has defended his actions, simply claiming the coupe had a “playful tiff” and insisting she was only crying because she hates it when they argue.

“About a week ago, we were sitting outside a restaurant having an intense debate about the children, and I held Nigella’s neck repeatedly while attempting to emphasize my point,” Saatchi, 70, said in the statement
released a statement to the Evening Standard.

“There was no grip, it was a playful tiff. The pictures are horrific but give a far more drastic and violent impression of what took place. Nigella’s tears were because we both hate arguing, not because she had been hurt. We had made up by the time we were home. ”

He also addressed the issue that Nigella and her children have since left the couple’s West London home.

“The paparazzi were congregated outside our house after the story broke yesterday morning, so I told Nigella to take the kids off till the dust settled,” he said in the statement.

However, despite the multimillionaire’s comments to the Evening Standard, police revealed that they were likely to question them about the incident.

According to various reports, the pair have a volatile relationship and the more success Nigella achieves, the more rebellion she receives at home.

Saatchi, who describes himself as a control freak and at times “cringingly vain” has also said his wife’s cookery is wasted on him and he ­prefers ­nursery food such as eggs and beans on toast.

Nigella once said of him: “Charles doesn’t really like proper food. He prefers a bowl of cereal.”

One acquaintance who had a ­conversation with Nigella recently said: “For Saatchi, Nigella has eclipsed him and he’s grumpier.

“His ultimate act of rebellion has been to reject her food. I have a ­feeling that drinking and smoking come into this as well. Her first ­husband John Diamond died of throat cancer in 2001. Yet Saatchi smokes.

“She’d never say anything about it though. She wouldn’t like to do ­anything to upset him.

“Nigella is in awe of him and ­surprisingly lacking in confidence herself.”

Her lack of confidence could be traced back to her own abusive childhood.

In a recent interview, she  revealed that she was physically abused by her mother when she was a child

A violent and depressive woman, Vanessa Salmon – who married former Conservative Chancellor Nigel Lawson, would lash out at her and her brother, former Sunday Telegraph editor Dominic, when they made too much noise, she claimed.

One neighbors of Charles and Nigella claim that they had previously heard the pair having a bitter argument loudly in the street.

This latest turn of events is sure to put a strain on their ten-year marriage, his third and her second.

Or maybe not.

Nigella has shown no signs of trouble at home, happily tweeting about recipes and telling her followers about restaurants that she has visited.

She also tweeted that she was celebrating the end of her children’s exams in school, by making them brownies.

Nigella has two children, Cosima, 19, and Bruno, 17, with her husband John Diamond, who she met while they worked at The Sunday Times.

Meet Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s little bundle of joy.

The proud parents shared this sweet snap of their newborn daughter Everly on Facebook on Sunday.

“First Father’s Day with my girls,” Channing, 33, wrote in the accompanying caption.

In the photo, the Sexiest Dad Alive is seen cradling the two-week old infant as Jenna looks lovingly on.

Jenna, 32,  also posted the same photo on her own Facebook page, writing, “First Father’s Day with our lil angel!”

The couple’s decision to introduce their daughter to the world via social media has been applauded by their legion of fans.

One Facebook user wrote in response to the photo, “Aww nice to see a celebrity couple showing off there (sic) baby without being paid to on some magazine cover!”

That comment alone has garnered 506 ‘likes”.

Jenna, who gave birth on May 31 in London, recently thanked her fans for all their well wishes.

“Thank you everyone for all the loving messages! Chan, myself and Everly are happy as can be and appreciate them all,” she tweeted on June 6.

Channing opened up in the July issue of Vanity Fair about the father he hopes to be.

“I’m just going to be a good friend to my kid,’ he said. ‘I don’t think you can prepare. It’s a bit of a freestyle.”

Channing and Jenna couple met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and tied the knot three years later.

Amanda looks decent — from the behind

Atlantic City is used to seeing some strange sights, but nothing could quite prepare guests at the  Revel Resort for Amanda Bynes.

Running around with messy hair, the 27-year-old was accompanied by her dog and was spotted Saturday night still wearing store tags on her  dress.

If her wild look wasn’t enough to turn heads, then her bizarre behavior certainly was.

Wearing a white lace  maxi gown, Amanda naturally donned her sunglasses at night and some patrons claimed she reeked of alcohol.

One Twitter follower, who spotted her at the Jersey Shore, wrote: “Holy s— just saw Amanda Bynes come out of a bathroom at Revel doing the  chicken dance.”

While another said she was “dancing around and acting crazy.”

She even got into a fight with one man and attempted to call security on him after he tried to take a photo of her.

“She started yelling at my dad and lunging at  him,” a source told Perez Hilton. “She just freaked out screaming, he can’t  take my picture.”

It seems her weekend was a no-picture zone.

Some Revelers asked if she was in fact the wig-wearing actress, she replied, “Yes, but you can’t take pictures of me.”

While she has been quiet on Twitter today, it was all tweet steam ahead on Saturday when she continued on her “ugly” tirade (this time Dr. Drew  and Jason Biggs were on the receiving end of her insults) and she posted a bizarre series of tweets.

“If you’re not hot I don’t care about you,” read one tweet.

“I don’t like you I don’t want you to be  happy and I’ll go out of my way to hurt you,” she said in another tweet.

And in another she wrote: “When people say I need help, it says nothing  about me. They aren’t getting any response from me.”

She added: “My real friends know I don’t need help. It  makes me crazy to even have to respond to any type of rumor. I need to deny any  false statement because I care about how I look.”

The there was this little pearl: ”I feel like I’m being punked  by the amount of hate from ugly dudes and women. I don’t know you and don’t know  what you’re talking about!”

What a tangled web has been weaved.

According to a new report, Paris Jackson’s suicide bid came on the back of discovering that Michael was not her biological father.

Sources tells The Sun newspaper that Paris, 15, was also convinced she was brother Prince’s full sibling.

The paper reports:

After being told the truth, a string of rows followed between devastated Paris and Prince, 16.

She plunged into depression and is still in an LA hospital after reportedly  slashing her wrists and downing pills on June 5.

Paris was given the news to prepare her for a tough grilling during the court fight between the Jackson family and concert firm AEG, who  they blame for Michael’s death.

Last night a family friend said: “Paris has always wanted to believe  Michael was her dad, but was aware that wasn’t really the case.

“She was convinced her and Prince were full siblings. She always idolized  him.

“Hearing she wasn’t started a downward spiral.”

Paris is said to be feeling  better but will stay in hospital for up to 30 days.

She will then spend more time with mum Debbie, 54, in California. Paris is  said to hate the “circus” at the Jackson household — but remains close to  her  grandma Katherine. Last night Paris’s representatives did not return our  calls.

If this turns out to be true, then our heart breaks for her — she is only still a teen and has endured so much in her short lifetime. And she loved her father so much — she must be experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions right now.
