Per the chart above, Google Android Market has the largest share of free applications available; 60%,
representing an increase of 3% since May 2010 when it was 57%. The share of free applications is smallest
on Windows Marketplace for Mobile (22%), followed by the Apple App Store for iPad (26%) and BlackBerry
App World (26%).

The large share of free applications in Google Android Market may be influenced by the fact that developers
from only 9 countries are currently able to distribute paid applications in Google Android Market, and by
the fact that users from only 14 countries are able to download paid applications (out of the 46 countries
where Google Android Market is currently available). Additionally, users need to register for a Google
Checkout account in order to download paid applications in Google Android Market (except for the
locations where operator billing is available).

“The Nokia E72 has received a OTA firmware update from version 031.023 to 051.018, and is an 11MB download. It is a significant update with a wide range of changes. Notably, Web sees an upgrade to v7.2.6. Along with updates, there is the usual statement of “stability and performance improvements”, but these come along with a massive 450+ bug fixes. Click through for more details. After updating one of All About Symbian’s E72′s, there weren’t many visible differences, certainly not as many as listed at the publishedThe update is available over-the-air, but curiously not yet via Nokia Software Updater. For those who don’t know how to trigger OTA updates, type in *#0000# from the home screen and select ‘Check for updates’ from the Options menu.” via allaboutsymbian.com

“While Samsung is building up its Android smartphone army, it is finally expanding its Bada smartphone again with the upcoming Wave 723 (GT-S7320E). Compare to Samsung Wave S8500, the Wave 723 is a lower end smartphone, comes with 3.2-inch WQVGA TFT-LCD display, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), A-GPS, 5 megapixel camera and support dual band UMTS/HSPA. Wave 723 is also developed based on the bada SDK 1.1. The SDK 1.1 has Auto-UI scaling feature where application developers can reproduce applications to work on Wave 723 from already developed bada Application on Wave with minimum effort. “The Wave 723 reflects our relentless pursuit of the best in mobile technologies by optimizing the application and social media experience. In new and innovative ways, the Wave 723 delivers on Samsung’s goal to give a rich, connected smart phone experience to everyone,” said JK Shin, President and Head of the Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. The Wave 723 will be available starting in September 2010 in Germany and will be gradually rolled out to other European markets including Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, and Africa.” via slashphone.com

The signature screws on the back are here again – they serve both a decorative and a practical purpose, not to mention they make the HTC Aria look tough and rugged. Other than that, the HTC Aria promises the same solid user experience as the other HTC droids with Sense UI. It comes with a great software package out of the box (Office document viewer, social networking apps) so we don’t anticipate any problems on that score. The HTC Android genealogy is getting quite tangled up – the Legend is Hero’s successor and the Wildfire is a bite-sized Desire, with the HTC Aria sitting somewhere in-between those two.The devil’s in the details though. Its specs are very close to both the Wildfire and the Legend, so it’s going to be the minor differences that decide which one you get. So, pay attention as we open up the box and examine the hardware of the Aria.” Read more here:

” The centerpiece of the Dell Streak is its 5-inch, 800 x 480 pixel (WVGA) capacitive touchscreen. This largedisplay allows you to get more done with this device than you would on a smaller smartphone. It makes web browsing better, emails easier to read, and is a blessing for watching video and reading ebooks. Colors are great, and thisscreen offers a wide range of viewing angles, so it’s possible for two people to watch a movie together. Itisn’t too bad a fingerprint magnet — it’s no worse than any other item you regularly rub your fingers on.” Read more here:

“If you go to the website of HTC you will read that Wildfire as any other smartphone of the company is aimed at “communication and exchange of joys of life with friends”. To some extent this is true as for any other modern phone. In reality HTC Wildfire is different from the rest of the company’s lineup. Without beating around the bush we can say that Wildfire is a cheap HTC smartphone. PR departments ask not to use the word “cheap” and substitute it by “inexpensive”, but in the case of HTC Wildfire we have a cheap smartphone. It is the most accessible solution among current Android models of the company (I know the price of uncertified HTC Hero and you can still buy Tattoo).” Read more here:
