&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I was on the phone with Tony Conrad at True Ventures pitching a business idea I had in early 2009. The site was built and we even had people registered for it and I had about a half million dollars already committed but I wanted a VC firm on my side as well. I don’t know why. Maybe I thought it would give me some credibility and I desperately craved it after the divorce I had been going through.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Tony asked a question I thought was very smart. And now I forget exactly what it was. But I’m going to paraphrase what I think he said. He asked, “What have you failed at already in this business and how have you learned from it?”
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I think I lied in the answer. Why not? But I can’t remember what I said.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And when I got off the phone I knew he would not put in money. I had just not failed enough yet at this business and I had not learned enough.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Later on I decided to not accept the money I had raised and not do the business at all, at great personal cost to me.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It wasn’t a good idea and I didn’t want to spend two years of my life losing everyone’s money, including more of my own. So I stopped it.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But Tony’s question brought back memories of several successful businesses I had either started or been involved in and how much I had utterly failed even during those businesses. Failure sucks in every way.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Business gurus will write books like “Failing Forward” blah blah blah, but I can tell you this: at that moment when you fail, there’s nothing to learn. It just sucks. For me, I take it very personally when I fail in each of the below ways I’m about to list. I’m too much of a perfectionist and I associate shame with every kind of failure. But ok, I admit it. “My name is James A…” and you know the rest. Former world chess champion Mikhail Botvinnik used to tell his students to study their losses the most because you learn the most from your failures. He would even practice playing while someone blew smoke in his face so he could conquer all his own personal obstacles.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I’m not that smart. I don’t like to fail at all. And I don’t like it when people blow smoke in my face. But acknowledging, cataloging, and then recognizing when you do fail is the first step to maybe learning from them. So I’ll take care of that part for you. Then you can fail, not want to kill yourself, and go on living and hopefully succeeding.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Incidentally, Google thinks I’m an expert on this. Apparently, the top phrase on Google that took people to my site last year (other than my name) was “I Want to Die”, which takes people to this post.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;10 Things Entrepreneurs Will Fail At
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1. You will lose some customers. Not everyone will be happy with your product forever. Or, not everyone will be happy when you stop paying them bribes. Or arranging their sexual escapades. Whatever. In my first business I started to lose HBO as a client. HBO! I had worked there. Heck, I had hired my own business and then left! And then the people who I had hired to take my place had their own agendas. I was backstabbed. It happens. Deal with it. You can’t keep every customer forever. Which is why you have to every day list potential customers, call new ones, come up with new ideas and products. Every day. If you didn’t today and your spouse is waiting for you to come to bed then she or he is going to have to wait a little longer before they can cuddle with you. That list needs to be finished.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2. You will lose some friends and family. You’re spending so much time on your business that inevitably you will not be able to match all of the expectations of the people who love you. At that point you have to make choices but don’t forget that running a business you have responsibility to not only friends but employees, customers. your future family, and investors who put their hard-earned money with you. I started one business with a close family relative who no longer speaks to me. That happens. You spend so much intense time together it’s like a lifetime of every psychological insult that has ever happened to you comes out and you vomit it all over each other. You’re comfortable with each other because, after all, you’re family. Until you become comfortable enough that it all ends.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. You will lose the faith of investors. Not all of the time, and hopefully not at the end, but there will come a time when the investors question you. This is normal. Answer their questions. Be honest about mistakes, about what you learned from them, about what you expect in the future, and then move towards that future. Vaultus was the first business for which I ever raised money. My business before that had been profitable from day one and we turned away all money. So, of course, I wasn’t qualified to run an unprofitable business that had raised a lot of money. First they asked me to step down as CEO, then they asked me to step down from the board, then they removed me from the company website. Was I upset? Of course!
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When they first asked me to step down from the board, I put up a meager fight. They said I had missed two board meetings in a row. I blamed “9/11”. The guy, Savio,  actually laughed at me. So I was off the board. The next time he called me was when he needed a recommendation from Calpers for his fund and Calpers was planning on calling me. I said to him, of course I will give you a good recommendation. And I did. Never hold grudges.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4. Your idea. Your idea might be a bad idea. I was taught in school that the best thing an entrepreneur can do is “focus”. This is not totally accurate. Yes, focus on your business but you may have to totally change ideas, tweak ideas, mate ideas, transform ideas at different points.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5. You will fail some of your employees. Employees are there for many reasons. Money. Potential career advancement. Exploitation (not a bad thing, they want to learn all they can from you so they can then start their own business). Sex (lots of it happens AT the workplace. And I do mean physically AT the workplace. Note I capitalized it twice). Sometimes they won’t always get what they want. Sometimes you won’t always get what you want from an employee. It’s ok to let these employees go as quickly as possible so they find what they are looking for  elsewhere.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6. You will fail at keeping stress levels low. Sometimes the stress is too much. I’ve heard about three heart attacks in the past two months.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;7. Sales. You can’t win them all. Sometimes your competitors will underprice you. Sometimes they will trash you behind your back. Sometimes they will have a nephew who is making the decision and there’s no way for you to know that.  And sometimes they are just plain better than you. You have no idea.One time I was pitching Tupac’s manager on doing the post-memoriam website for Tupac. I had a CD-ROM (yes, a CD-ROM) demonstrating my work. Only problem is: I had never used a Windows machine before. Only Macs and Unix machines. So I didn’t know how to open the CD Drive. He just sat there without helping me and said, “You don’t know how to use a computer and you want to do Tupac’s website?” I mentioned to him that I had been thrown out of graduate school for computer science. He then laughed me out of his office. I was humiliated.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After losing a potential sale there’s a few things you should do:
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Call the decision maker and say, “Just for my own learning, is there anything we could’ve done better?” Then take sincere notes.
&lt;br /&gt;Then ask, “Is there anything else we can do for you. Any other way I, personally, can help you succeed at your job.”
&lt;br /&gt;And conclude with, “Well, it was a real pleasure going through the process and learning about your business. Please call us if you need anything new.” And check in every month after that. Send monthly updates of customers you are winning, new products you are building, etc.
&lt;br /&gt;But, if you are being laughed at all the way to the elevator the best you can do is just swallow your pride and tell yourself to learn that when you are ready, learn how to open the CD-ROM drive on a Windows machine. And, perhaps, blame someone else. But that was hard for me to do in this case.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;8. Communication. Some people are just simply going to disagree with you. Some people you work with might disapprove of that button in the center of the box you insisted go there before the box was delivered. Some investors might not like you personally. Your landlord might not like you and might want to kick you out. You’re just not going to be able to charm everyone like you are used to.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;9. Raising Money. I just saw this happen: great idea, great people, revenues, and profitable and…the company in question could not raise money from professional venture capitalists. Were the VCs stupid? Of course they were! Everyone is “stupid” who doesn’t hand over their hard-earned money for you to play with. But, it’s their choice. And it’s hard to raise money. So you have to always make sure you have a “Plan B”. I’ve seen Plan B work remarkably well in several instances in the past few years, particularly companies I invested in pre-2008 that then had to make it through 2008-9 without any venture capital help. How did they do it? In general, Plan B involves getting to break even as quickly as possible. Getting rid of product categories that don’t make money, and usually switching to a service model where you charge for a specific service, and only use employees to create that service who will make you profitable. The spread between what your employees cost and what you charge is how you pay your lofty salary and office space.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And again, just like in the above for “Sales” you keep in touch with everyone, you send updates. You make sure that everyone is aware of achievements. You throw a big Christmas party and you invite me (don’t worry, I won’t come, though but I’m a bit insulted you didn’t invite me and you know who you are) and as you grow go out there and raise money again. Someone once told me, “When your business is ready for it, the money raising will be easy.”
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;10. Yourself. You will certainly fail yourself during the process. You can’t do everything. You can’t get everyone to like you. You can’t get everyone to buy your service. You can’t stay in top shape. You can’t. You can’t. You can’t. Well, sometimes you can. But most of the time, you can’t. Because you can’t control the world around  you. Give up control. Learn to be flexible. Every day come up with new ideas for your customers, new ideas for your product. If you aren’t doing it, then who is? Who will have the passion you have?
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And in the meantime, while juggling all of that, you have to keep your health up. Or else you will fail more.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;10. Your business. And sometimes, your business will fail. It simply won’t work. The cash you have in the bank will go to zero. Your employees will quit, you can’t raise any more money. Your customers will leave because they don’t want to go down with a sinking ship. You’ve failed. As I’ve mentioned before, sometimes things just keep getting worse, and you can’t do anything about it.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;[Editor's note: I see James put the #10 twice and titled it "10 Things..." so I guess entrepreneurs also fail at top 10 lists.]
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What will you do then?
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Well, it’s so much fun to repeatedly fail at everything, you’ll just have start all over.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Bu süre içinde, çoğu işe yetişme telaşındaki yaklaşık bin kişi kemancının önünden geçip, gider.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;p&gt;

&lt;span style="color: rgb(173, 3, 59);"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Kemancı çalmaya başladıktan ancak üç dakika kadar sonra,&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt; ilk kez orta yaşlı bir adam kemancıyı fark edip, yavaşlar ve birkaç saniye sonra da gitmek zorunda olduğu yere yetişmek üzere yine hızla yoluna devam eder.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

Kemancı ilk bir dolar bahşişini bundan bir dakika kadar sonra alır: bir kadın yürümesine ara vermeksizin parayı kemancının önüne koyduğu kaba atarak, hızla geçer, gider.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

Birkaç dakika sonra, bir başka adam duraklayıp, eğilerek dinlemeye başlar ancak saatine göz attığında işe geç kalmamak için acele ettiğini belirten ifadelerle hızla yoluna devam eder.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

En fazla dikkatle duran ise üç yaşlarında bir oğlan çocuğu olur. Annesinin çekiştirmelerine rağmen, çocuk önünde durur ve dikkatle kemancıya bakar. En sonunda annesi daha hızlı, çekiştirerek çocuğu yürümeye zorlar. Oğlan arkasına dönüp dönüp kemancıya bakarak, çaresizce annesinin peşinden gider. Buna benzer şekilde birkaç çocuk daha olur ve hepsi de anne, babaları tarafından yürümeye devam için zorlanarak, uzaklaştırılırlar.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

Çaldığı 45 dakika boyunca kemancının önünde sadece 6 kişi, çok kısa bir süre durur. 20 kişi duraklamadan, yürümeye devam ederek, para verir. Kemancı çaldığı süre içinde 32 Dolar toplar. Çalmayı bitirdiğinde ise sessizlik hakim olur ve kimse onun durduğunu fark etmez, alkışlamaz.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

    Fransa’da, EM Lyon Business School ile mali denetim ve danışmanlık firması KPMG tarafından bu sene ikincisi organize edilen World Entrepreneurship Forum’da (WEF) üç gün boyunca girişimcilik konuşuldu. Dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen katılımcılar 4 ana konuyu tartıştılar:

Farklı kültürden insanlarla çalışmayı da becermek gerekir. Bunlar kolay şeyler değil. Belki de bu yüzden 3 veya 4 yaşında tökezleyen çok şirket var.

4-Dayanıklı olmak, çok dayanıklı...

Girişimci daima pozitif enerji yüklü olmalı, hem de uzun süreli. Kimi kararların neticesini görmek için aylarca beklemek gerekecektir, hatta yılarca. Dümeni sıkı tutmak gerek. Daima ’yarın daha iyi olacak’ demek ve gerçekten böyle düşünmek, girişimci için hayati bir tutumdur. Bu tutum esneklikle de çatışmaz: Uzun vadeli bir hedefe sahip olmak ve bundan şaşmamak. Yol değişebilir, hedef aynıdır, değişmez.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 
5-Yönetim kurallarını belirlemek
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 
Hem içeride hem dışarıda etik davranmak: Girişimci için olmazsa olmaz bir kural. Toplumun ilerlemesine, gelişmesine, zenginleşmesine katkı yapmak için girişim ama toplumsal kurallara saygı çerçevesinde. Ayrıca, bu alanda örnek davranmak, ekibin uyumunu güçlendirir.

6-Delege etmek ve sorumluluk vermek
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 
Delege etmek, sadece bir asta bir görev vermek değildir, asıl ona güvenmek demektir. Projeyi ekibine dayanarak ve güvenerek gerçekleştirmektir. Söylemeye bile gerek yok, girişimciliğin özü budur. Sonuç odaklı olmak, hedefe kilitlenmek ’aktif öğrenme’ ile örtüşen bir tutumdur. Yapmak ve yaparken öğrenmek, böylece gelişmek. Sürekli başarının yollarını aramak. Hedefi hiç aklından çıkarmamak. Hedefi tutturmanın hatta aşmanın yolu bundan geçer.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sharing is Growing&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;First, and foremost - and most exciting for us - we found that sharing is growing. On a “per page view” level, we’ve seen a 200 percent increase in the shares per page view across our 125,000+ sites in 2009. This means for every page view consumed, the rate of sharing has doubled, meaning our publishers are getting better at optimizing their sharing and consumers now expect it to be there.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sharing is Valuable&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On an aggregate level, sharing is now accounting for as much as one-third of the amount of traffic driven by search, which is most often the top source of traffic for sites. So say a site gets 100,000 unique visitors per month from search, they’re also getting 33,000 from sharing. Now, 33 percent is at the high range of our network, but we’re seeing sites across several verticals (mainstream news, tech, entertainment) achieving these levels.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sharing vs. Search on Social Engagement&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Even more important than the gross traffic originating from shared links is the social engagement of sharing. When compared to search, sites in our network are seeing up to 50 percent more engagement from sharing. Meaning share-originated links are driving up to 50 percent more page views per unique than search. Search drives a very focused click and is still the standard for intent. We feel influence is a proxy for the new social intent. There is no question why companies like Google are rushing to create a more &lt;a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/12/10/google-search-appliance-goes-tweet-crazy/"&gt;social search-driven experience&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Now we’ll break down the stages of sharing, which we extrapolate into influence. Influence is calculated as Shares x Recipient Clicks x Engagement x Virality.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://static.blog.sharethis.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/Share.jpg" border="0" height="299" alt="Share.jpg" width="398" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Despite &lt;a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203803904574431151489408372.html"&gt;reports&lt;/a&gt; of its demise, e-mail is still the most popular method of sharing, and despite its meteoric rise of late, Twitter is still not a very popular sharing channel. In our research, we found that 46 percent of shares came via e-mail, 33 percent from Facebook, 14 percent from other channels such as Digg, del.icio.us, LinkedIn, etc., and just 6 percent from Twitter.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://static.blog.sharethis.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/click.jpg" border="0" height="324" alt="click.jpg" width="433" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However, once content is shared, it’s interesting to watch how people respond. Of content shared, 40 percent of clicks come from shared articles on Twitter, 35 percent of clicks come from email and other social channels, and 25 percent of clicks come from Facebook.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

We believe Twitter does extremely well on click-through rate because of 2 things: short tweets and URLs, which often mask the source and content of where you are heading (causing accidental clicks), and most importantly, the re-tweet, one of the strongest viral drivers for pass-along effect on any social network.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;img src="http://static.blog.sharethis.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/engage2.jpg" border="0" height="306" alt="engage2.jpg" width="412" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Most interesting, however, is what we found out about what happens *after* a user arrives to the share destination - how engaged users are by platform. We found that Twitter is the least engaging share platform with users visiting an average of 1.66 pages when they click through to a site, while users coming in off e-mail were the most engaged, visiting 2.95 pages, and Facebook trailing closely behind 2.76 page views. Of course this varies by vertical and site, but if you think about your own habits, it makes sense. Getting an emailed link from a friend may cause you to pay more attention than the more random discovery that you get on Twitter as you consume quick opinions. We think there is tremendous potential for Twitter to increase its engagement when and if better filters are applied - the type of filters that Facebook has built in from the start.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Everyone who Shares is an Influencer&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
We believe your friends and family across &lt;strong&gt;all&lt;/strong&gt; social networks should be your filter for the web, and influence isn’t just made by a few, it’s created by everyone who shares. What all this adds up to is a picture of sharing as a growing piece of the social Web, and we look forward to working with our publishers to better understand the value underlying social traffic coming to their sites.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Google bug&amp;uuml;n Google Apps kullanıcılarına g&amp;ouml;nderdiği mail ile yeni &amp;ouml;zellikler ve daha y&amp;uuml;ksek performans sunmak amacıyla Mart 2010'dan itibaren Internet Explorer 6'ya destek vermeyeceğini duyurdu.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2010 sonlarına doğru Gmail ve Google Calendar da Internet Explorer 6 ile kullanılamayacak.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;blockquote&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology. &amp;nbsp;This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5. &amp;nbsp;As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.&lt;p /&gt;  We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010. &amp;nbsp;After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Ziya Boyacıgiller'den Girişimcilere Altın Öğütler</title>

Se&amp;ccedil;ilen girişimler ile ilgili ne d&amp;uuml;ş&amp;uuml;nd&amp;uuml;ğ&amp;uuml;m&amp;uuml; bir sonraki yazımda anlatacağım ancak Etohum sayesinde Airties kurucu ortağı &lt;a href="http://eambar.etohum.com/kisiler/ziya-g-boyacigiller"&gt;Ziya Boyacıgiller&lt;/a&gt;'i ve Sobee kurucu ortağı &lt;a href="http://eambar.etohum.com/kisiler/mevlut-dinc"&gt;Mevl&amp;uuml;t Din&amp;ccedil;&lt;/a&gt;'i dinleme fırsatı bulmak inanılmaz keyifliydi.&lt;p /&gt; Ziya Boyacıgiller'in konuşması girişimciler i&amp;ccedil;in altın değerinde &amp;ouml;ğ&amp;uuml;tler i&amp;ccedil;erirken, Mevl&amp;uuml;t Din&amp;ccedil;'in konuşmasında herhalde şimdiye kadar dinlediğim en etkileyici başarı hikayelerinden birini dinledim diyebilirim.&lt;p /&gt; &lt;p /&gt;Gelelim Ziya Boyacıgillerin konuşmasından benim yakaladıklarıma :&lt;p /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Girişimcilik yapmadan &amp;ouml;ğrenilmez:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;p /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Girişimilik futbol veya basketbol gibidir. (Facebook ve Google en g&amp;ouml;z &amp;ouml;n&amp;uuml;nde olan &amp;ouml;rnekler sanırım) Genellikle ilk iş planını işin başlangı&amp;ccedil; aşamasında yapıyoruz ve bu aşamada işimizle ilgili bir&amp;ccedil;ok parametreyi bilmiyoruz hatta neyi bilmediğimizi bile bilmiyoruz.&lt;p /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;İş planı yazmadan &amp;ouml;nce iş planı yapın :&lt;p /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; Sayfalarca iş planı yazsanız da &amp;ouml;nemli olan işi kafanızda planlamanızdır. İlk planınız zaten değişecektir. İş planı yazmak yerine bilmediklerinizi &amp;ouml;ğrenmeye &amp;ccedil;alışın.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;p /&gt; Para bulmak girişimcinin ateşle sınavıdır :&lt;p /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; T&amp;uuml;rkiyedeki girişimlerin en b&amp;uuml;y&amp;uuml;k şikayeti yatırımcı bulamamak oluyor.&lt;strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; Yatırımcılar risksiz işlere yatırım yapmak isterler. Yatırım almak i&amp;ccedil;in iş modelinizi daha risksiz hale getirmelisiniz&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &amp;nbsp; &lt;/strong&gt;Yatırım alamıyorsanız sorunu kendinizde arayın. Girişimcinin ilk girişimi iş planını satabilmektir. İş planınızı satamıyorsanız, m&amp;uuml;şterileri ikna etmeniz de zordur.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp; Girişimcilik siste araba kullanmak gibidir.&amp;Ouml;n&amp;uuml;n&amp;uuml;z&amp;uuml; g&amp;ouml;rebildiğiniz kadar gaza basın. Başlangı&amp;ccedil;ta k&amp;uuml;&amp;ccedil;&amp;uuml;k adımlarla başlayın ve az sermaye talep edin. İş modeliniz oturduk&amp;ccedil;a daha b&amp;uuml;y&amp;uuml;k sermayeleri daha k&amp;uuml;&amp;ccedil;&amp;uuml;k hisseler karşılığında alabilirsiniz.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;p /&gt;&lt;p /&gt;Benim aklımda kalanlar bunlar.             &lt;p&gt;ReklamStore, Türkiye'de ilk defa kullanılacak bir sistem olan "Remarketing" i duyurdu. Bir süre önce bir Yahoo! Şirketi olan Right Media ile yaptığı anlaşma sonunda altyapısını tamamen yenileyen ReklamStore, duyurduğu Remarketing uygulaması ile e-ticaret şirketlerine, sitelerini satın alma yapmadan terk eden ziyaretçileri ile tekrar etkileşim içine girme imkanı veriyor.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;“Yeniden pazarlama” olarak Türkçeye çevrilebilen remarketing, geri dönüşümü yüksek olan davranışsal hedeflemenin (behavioral targeting) bir çeşiti. Davranışsal hedefleme reklamın nerelerde yapılacağı ile değil, kimlere yapılacağı ile ilgili bir hedefleme modeli. Remarketing, reklamverenlere, daha önceden sitelerini ziyaret etmiş olan kullanıcılara tekrar ulaşma imkânı veriyor. Bu model ile reklamverenler, sitelerini ziyaret ederek ürünlerine ilgi gösterdiğine emin oldukları kullanıcılara markalarını tekrar hatırlatma, farklı ürünler tanıtma veya özel kampanyalar sunma şansı yakalıyor.&lt;/p&gt;

Ticari bir marka ismi olarak; kısa, yanlış telaffuz edilme ihtimali olmayan ve bilim-sanat branşlarında benzerine rastlanmayan bir sözcüktür.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Kodak’tan söz ediyorum. Kodak’ın isim babası Eastman diyor ki: “K güçlü ve keskin yapısından ötürü favorimdir. K harfi ile başlayıp biten birçok sözcük kombinasyonundan sonra ulaştım Kodak ismine....”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Bu tür yapılmış/yaratılmış isimler için “uydurulmuş isimler” yerine “tasarlanmış isimler” demek doğru olacaktır. Çeşitli çağrışımlar ve ses-anlam ilişkileri &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(phonosemantics)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; dikkate alınarak ve kolay telaffuz edilebilmesi, kolay akılda kalabilmesi, kötü çağrışımlarının olmaması gibi birçok bileşen hesaba katılarak ses birimleriyle &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(fonem)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; tasarlanmış bir isim için “uydurma” denilmesi pek de insafa sığmaz doğrusu...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Geçen ayki yazımda, dilbilimcilerin çok önemli bir bölümünün, kavramları simgeleştirirken yarattığımız sözcüklerle onları oluşturan sesler arasında bir nedensellik ilişkisinin olmadığını savunduklarını yazmıştım. Yani, bu bilim adamlarının iddialarına göre sesle anlam arasında hiçbir bağ, hiçbir ilişki söz konusu değildir. Ancak, nedensizlik ilkesini kabul etmekle birlikte ses-anlam ilişkisi üzerine biraz farklı görüşler ileri sürenler de var. Tabii sözcüğün tamamen nedenliliğine inanan, sözcüğü oluşturan seslerin, mimetik olarak nesneden izler taşıdığını ve bir anlam içerdiğini söyleyenler de... Ben, nedenlilik kuralına pek katılamamakla birlikte ses-anlam etkileşiminin varlığına inanırım. Kimi bilim adamları bir ses sembolizminden söz ederek dilde sözcüklerin ses özelliklerinden dolayı belirli anlamları iletebileceklerini söylerler. Dilbilimde, sadece ses sembolizmi &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(phonetic symbolism, sound symbolism)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; değil, ses anlam bilimi &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(phonosemantics)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; adı verilen disiplin üzerinde çalışanlar da olmuştur. Bir de ses estetiği &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(phonoaesthetics)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; denilen bir şey var ki, burada inceleme konusu olan, Emel Sayın’ın ses güzelliği değil, söcüklerdeki seslerin ve ses kombinasyonlarının kendi iç güzellikleridir. Yani kısaca, sesin anlamı nasıl oluşturduğu ya da hangi seslerin ne tür anlamları desteklediği dilbilimin konuları arasında yer almıştır.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Nitekim Eastman da ‘k’ için “keskin” ve “güçlü” demiyor muydu?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Seslerin anlam değeri, çok eskiden beri dil bilimi ile uğraşanların merak konusu olmuştur. Meselâ İbraniler, ünlüleri seslerin ruhu kabul etmişler; Grekler, seslere hareketlilik, akıcılık, çarpınma, kayma, içerilik, derunilik gibi nitelikler yüklemişlerdir. Greklere göre /i/ ile yapılan kelimelerde bir hafiflik, bir şeyin arasından geçip gitme kabiliyeti, /a/ ve /e/ ile yapılanlarda uzunluk ve büyüklük, /o/ ile yapılanlarda yuvarlaklık kavramları bulunmaktadır (Üçok1951: 81). Üçok’a göre uzağı gösteren işaret zamiri şu kelimesinde işaret edici unsur /u/ ünlüsüdür. Çünkü “u vokalinin oynaklanmasında dudakların durumu dışa doğru bir istikamet göstermektedir.” (Üçok 1951: 82). Üçok, özellikle yansımalardaki ünlüler arasında, zihnimizde bıraktıkları intibalar bakımından çok ince farklar bulunduğunu, bu sebeple de birinin yerine diğerinin kullanılamayacağını belirtir. Meselâ bir top atışı bim büm şeklinde ince ünlülerle değil, bum (bım) şeklinde kalın ünlülerle anlatılabilir. /A/ ile /ı/ arasındaki anlam nüansını da gacırdamak ve gıcırdamak kelimeleriyle açıklayan Üçok, /a/’nın daha ağır, daha büyük, /ı/‘nın ise daha hafif, daha küçük bir gürültüyü anlattığını, ağır demir bir kapı gacırdar, fakat dişler gıcırdar ifadesi ile örneklendirir (Üçok 1951: 83).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;/U/ ünlüsü, dudakların büzülmesiyle çıkarılan dar-yuvarlak bir ünlüdür. Oluşumunda alt ve üst çeneler birbirine yaklaşır. Hoşa gitmemeyi, beğenmemeyi, küçümsemeyi, umursamamayı ifade eden burun kıvırma hareketi sırasında dudakların aldığı şekil ile /U/ ünlüsü çıkarılırken dudakların aldığı şekil aynıdır. Yine benzer duyguları anlatan dudak bükme hareketinde de /U/ ünlüsünün çıkarılışında olduğu gibi dudaklar büzülür ve bu sırada alt ve üst çeneler birbirine yaklaşır. Bu yakınlık, bize /U/ ünlüsünün /A/…/U/ ses düzenli tekrarlardaki anlam değerinin tesadüf olmadığını anlatmaktadır. Beden dili üzerinde çalışanlar korku, öfke hiddet tiksinti, üzüntü, mutluluk, sevinç gibi duyguların yüzde, kaşta, alın bölgesinde, göz kapaklarında ve ağız kısmında değişikliklere yol açtığını ve bu duyguların çeşitli kültürlerde ortak yüz ifadeleriyle aktarıldığını belirterek, bunun beden dilinin evrenselliğine bir işaret olabileceğini ileri sürerler. Duygularımızı anlatan ah, of, oh gibi kelimeler de sözlü dil ile beden dili alanlarının birbirine yakınlığını göstermektedir&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; (Schober 2007: 27, 40, 41, Baltaş 1992:48).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Gerçi, marka ismi tasarlamanın genel prensipleri üzerinde ayrıca çalışmak gerekir. Hatta bunu akademisyenlerin yapması daha doğru olur. Ancak, yukarıdaki alıntıdan da yola çıkarak, bu aşamada şunu söyleyebiliriz: Çağrışım, ses sembolizmi, ses estetiği ve ses-anlam etkileşimleri gibi dilbilim alanlarında dolaşarak tasarlayacağımız marka isimlerinin markanın kavramsal ruhuna çok uygun, ne kadar geniş olursa olsun hedef kitlenin değerleriyle örtüşen özelliklerde olabilmesi mümkündür. Hatta bu yöntemle, Kodak gibi en geniş hedef kitleyle uyumlu, evrensel nitelikler taşıyan isimler tasarlamak da çok kolaydır. Yeter ki bizi temel prensiplere ulaştıracak gerekli verileri derleyip dikkate alabilelim.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Her marka ismi; fonetik yapısı, semantiği ve çağrışımlarıyla markanın kimliğini, kişiliğini ve tüm değerlerini temsil eder/etmelidir. Bu nedenle marka ismi tasarımı, markalaşma sürecinin ilk stratejik adımlarından biridir. Öyle ki, markanızı konumlandırmadan önce verdiğiniz bir marka ismi, konumlandırma stratejinizi belirleyebilecek, sınırlandırabilecek, hatta engelleyebilecek kadar önemli rol oynar. Yeniden konumlandırma &lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;(re-positioning)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt; süreçlerinde de isimden bağımsız hareket edemezsiniz.       <title>Social Media Etiquette - Stop being the Social Grinch who stole Christmas!</title>

      &lt;blockquote class="posterous_long_quote"&gt;Ask yourself these questions to find out if you are guilty of being the Social Grinch this year. Do you try to retweet and respond to posts? Do you actively read the posts and respond to interesting information? Do you thank your followers and fellow retweeters? Do you attempt to be engaged to share information and genuinely follow others because you are truly interested in their knowledge rather than to just get a return follow? Do you participate in questions or polls? Do you enjoy connecting with your community?&lt;p&gt;
    
    I’m afraid that if you answered NO or NOT enough to any of these questions then you are guilty of being this year’s Christmas Social Marketing Grinch! If you are the type of person who wants your followers and fan base to pay attention to you then you may want to take a new approach next year in developing your social media content strategies. Be willing to give rather than just take. If you don’t, you may end up losing followers and supporters more often than not. You’ll begin to look like an impostor instead of someone who truly wants to captivate your audience. I hate to break the news but your community can see through this narrow vision and will ultimately repay you by ‘unfollowing/ unsubscribing’ at the end of the day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;
    
    The real question is quality versus quantity. Should we follow ALL those willing to follow us? Are we trying to be ‘social’ or just appear to be popular? The reason most of us chose to become involved in social media in the first place is to connect and communicate with each other. If we do not achieve this – there is no return on our investment of time. Quite frankly, I’d rather have 50 ‘engaged’ followers that share insight than 100 fans that never offer their support or input and I bet you feel the same way. If you are the Grinch and you don’t change your ways, then you are NOT the social marketer you thought you were. You can redeem yourself, however, by following these five social media etiquette techniques as you enter 2010 and become the Genuine Social Marketer you know you can be:&lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;
        &lt;li&gt;Know why you use social media and have clear objectives: Just to get followers or to engage a community to learn and grow together?
        &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Retweet, comment or like posts occasionally and often if you are compelled.
        &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Thank followers and send direct mail.
        &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Share knowledge and RESPOND to those who follow with quality responses to demonstrate that you care and are engaged.
        &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Participate in polls and questions. Social marketing can be a powerful tool for followers and hosts but everyone should equally participate. &lt;/li&gt;
    &lt;/ol&gt;
    It’s not a difficult strategy. The history of ‘social’ is to give AND take not just give OR take. It’s a collaborative effort that should demonstrate you care and are truly interested in not only your own interest but the interest of others as well. The social arena can be insightful and enlightening but only if you want to be a part of a community. Your chances of building a strong following will improve and increase if everyone participates. You can be the genuine social media marketer that you set out to be but you have to remember that it’s not just about you. Be giving this Christmas and oblige your followers and fans with some attention. Give them the gift of true sincere communication! Retweet them, respond to their questions and participate in their polls. You will be amazed at how the quality of your community will grow.
