There will be a Freshman and J.V. Volleyball tournament at Arlington this weekend.

Tonight at 6 the Central Volleyball team will look to bounce back from a tough loss against the Highland Scots on Tuesday with a game against the Como Park Cougars at Como. The Girls are 9-1 in conference and have only two games remaining in the season.

The Central girl soccer team suffered a tough 7-0 loss yesterday to the Hill-Murray Pioneers, at Hill-Murray. The girls played hard and Hill-Murray was only up 2-0 at halftime, but the Pioneers pulled away in the 2nd half. This loss ends the girls season, but they come away with yet another conference title.

At 3:30 the Central Minutemen football team will be riding lots of momentum from last weeks amazing overtime victory into the final game of the conference season against the Humboldt Hawks at Humboldt. The Hawks have not won a game since 2005. If the Minutemen get a victory they will win the conference title for the first time in 20 years.

Last night the Central Girls Swimming and Diving team defeated the Johnson Governors 93-36. The Girls are still undefeated in conference and their next meet is on the 22nd against Como Park.

(VID) The conference undefeated Minutemen soccer team won in a quarterfinal match yesterday against the White Bear Lake Polars, here at Central. The Minutemen won 1-0 with senior Sam Mann scoring the lone goal. The boy take on a high ranked Woodbury team on Saturday at Woodbury.

Yesterday was the annual hall of fame induction ceremony. Four Central graduates were honored for their personal and professional achivements during and following high school. The 2008 hall of fame inductees were Gary Ales class of 1958, Neal Amundson class of 1933 who's award was accepted by his son., Chuck Devet class of 1957, and Patricia Benton Johnson class of 1952. Each inductee gave an acceptance speech and reflected back on their high school experiences at Central. Here is Patricia Benton Johnson during her acceptance speech. (V.I.D.)

Next Wednesday, October 15th, will be a testing day. Students in 9th grade will take the EXPLORE test, 10th grade students will take the PLAN test and 11 grade students will take the PSAT. These test will be given in your advisory starting first hour. Seniors will have a late start. Regular classes will begin at 10:36.

Last Night, the Girls Volleyball team lost to the Highland Park Scots in a tough game. It was a close intense game from start to finish. This is the first loss in conference for Central. The girls are still first in conference with a record of 9-1. Their next game is Friday evening at 7pm at Como Park.

The Girls Swimming and Dive Team swam 107-36 victory against Humboldt last Friday. Central's Conference record is now 3-0. with meets against Johnson, Como and Harding still to come.

Tonight at 7 the 1st place Girls Volleyball team will take on the 2nd place Highland Scots at Highland. The Girls have only three games left in the season and with a win can secure a conference championship.

The Volleyball team attended the Park Cottage Grove Tournament on Saturday where they won two matches and also lost two. The Girls play tomorrow at Highland Park whom they have already defeated once this year.

The girls Swimming and Diving team took on Humboldt in a conference meet on Friday. The girls won easily by a score of 107-36 and are still in the lead or the conference title. The minute-maids also participated in the Simley Invitational on Saturday where they took 7th place.

(VID) Last Night, Our Minuteman Boys Soccer team defeated the Humboldt Hawks 1-0. The game was very close and the Minutemen fought hard all the way through. The highlights include Sam Mann distributing the ball very well. Saw Christopher playing good midfielder, and one of his shots was luckily blocked by the Humboldt goalie. Dahir Wako played a really good game also, he assisted Jonah Van Why with centrals only scored goal. This goal wasn't made until the last 10 minutes of the game. Naveed Effendi gaurded one of humboldts best soccer players all through the match and kept him from scoring. And last, Our Goalie Gabe Street, had 5 very good saves. The Boys Soccer team stay undefeated in conference and take on the Harding Knights tonight at 3:15 at Harding

Tonight is the big night, homecoming 2008. At 7 the Central Minutemen will kick off against the Johnson Governors. The last time the minutemen beat Johnson was in 2000. This is a huge game not only because it is the homecoming game but also because the winner of this game is in 1st place and has a very good chance of winning conference. The last time Central won conference in football was 20 years ago in 1988. Seniors DJ Johnson and Jordan Larson will be looking to help the Minutemen win tonight. Along with those offensive stars the Central Defense will look to continue their domination in the Conference having only allowed an average of 8.7 points per game in conference play. Come show your school spirit and cheer on the boys!

(VID) Centrals Girl Soccer team crushed the Humboldt Hawks 7-1. The highlights were Erin Chambers with 3 goals, Emily Johnson with 2, Paige Robison and Rita Baldwin both with 1. The Girls are currently still first place in conference. They play the Harding Knights tonight at 5 at Harding, and with this win they will be Conference Champions! Section play for Girls Soccer begins October 7th, good luck Girls!

By Design is an intensive teen artist development and mentoring program at Minnesota Center for Book Arts. An Application is available on a website shown on the T.V. Bulletin Board. At 4:30 the Girls soccer team will take on the Arlington Phoenix in what looks to be an easy match against a team that is 0-9. The girls are currently atop the conference standings with a record of 8-0-1. The girls have only three games left in the conference season and look to finish strong.

Yesterday the girls soccer team took on the 0-10 Arlington Phoenix. It was a easy match for the victorious Minute-maids as they won 7-0. The girls sit a top the conference with a 9-0-1 record and are in good place to win the conference with only two games left. Tomorrow, they take on the Humbolt Hawks, 3:15pm at Humbolt.

On Thursday the homecoming game wont just be any old homecoming game. When the Central Minutemen take on the Johnson Governors the tie on top of the conference standings will be broken and only one team will be leading conference. Both teams are 4-0 going into this game and the winner has a very good chance of winning conference. The Central boys soccer team took down the Arlington Phoenix yesterday in a very easy win here at Griffin. The boys won 5-0 and are now 10-0 in conference. Also, the boys are now ranked 8th in state because of their outstanding performance this year. The minutemen look hold their spot at the top of the conference tomorrow against the Humbolt Hawks, at Humbolt, at 5pm.

(VID) Last night the Central Minutemen football team came out victorious against the Como Park Cougars, 37-21. Senior running back DJ Johnson ran for 2 touchdowns to lead the team to a victory. Their record is now 4-0 and next Thursday they play the undefeated Johnson Governors for the Conference championship. This is Central Homecoming game. Come cheer on the Minutemen next Thursday at 7pm.

The last day to drop a class will be Monday, September 29th. After this date you will receive an "N". You must also have a note from a parent or guardian and then you will then be put in a "Study Hall".

(VID)The girls soccer team played what could be their most important game of the year on Wednesday against the 2nd place Highland Park Scots. The Minute-maids fought hard and senior Emily Johnson scored a goal to put the girls up 1-0.Highland got a late goal and tied the game. The game went to overtime but a winner could not be decided. With the tie the girls now stand at 8-0-1 in conference and still have a narrow lead over the Scots in the standings. They take on the 0-8 Arlington Phoenix on Monday, here at Central.

Last night due to rain the Girls Tennis match was postponed, they will play the make-up game today at 315 against the Johnson Governors at the Bucky Olson Tennis Courts here at Central. The Girls have secured at least a tie for conference and possibly a win of conference. Good Luck girls

(PICS) The Central Volleyball team beat the Harding Knights in three matches yesterday. Last night was also parent's night, where the players thanked thier parents with letters. Highlights of the game were twelve ace serves in a row made by Yadira Sevilla, Ellen Semf got fourteen kills, Sarah walker made eight kills, and Megan Tate made six. The girls are currently first in conference play with a record of 7-0. The girls have not lost a conference match in play since September of 2003.The girl's next game is next Tuesday at Como. the team is playing Como for the first time.

The Girls Swimming and Diving Team beat St. Paul Academy last night 100 to 66. This was there second meet and victory they are now 2-0 in conference

The Boys had an impressive 5-1 win including two goals from Sophmore Jake Wythers.After the 1st half it was still a close match but in the second half the boys pulled away. Hanok Yacob had a very impressive goal with a header to increase the boys lead to 3-1.Freshman Ian Shank got in on the action and had a late goal to secure the boys win. The Boys are still undefeated in conference with a 9-0 record and have only three games left in the conference season. The boys next game is on Monday against Arlington.
