JL,
I just listened to Julie speak at a recent flood claims conference - she is very much into "blowing things apart" in the process of making construction better and stronger. Living here in Florida, I think that is a very good thing. For anyone attending your user's conference next year, I would strongly suggest spending an hour or so with her and listen to her presentation.

Thanks for the comments, Dave. It looks like we’ll have some great things to show at our upcoming user conference in February. This will includes upgrades to the Blackberry version as well as the new iPhone/iPad version. Unfortunately XactScope won’t be able to sync with older versions of Xactimate since the code has to be built in for it to be able to communicate with the smart phone. Since XactScope didn’t exist when those older versions were released, there is no code there. So running XactScope does require a compatible version of Xactimate.

Thanks for stopping by, Jady. We continue to evaluate all the smart phones coming out, including the Evo, but at this point the Blackberry and iPhone are the only phones we can announce. We’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for the comment, Don and Shelly. IBHS is working to develop standards that are based on the kind of testing you saw on the news. Although I think I know the answer to this, I’ll defer to the folks at IBHS for more detail since I don’t want to get it wrong or speak for them. Their general website can be found here: http://www.disastersafety.org/. More information about how they work with building codes, their proposed amendments, and contact information for their Director of Code Development can be found here: http://www.disastersafety.org/text.asp?id=building_codes.

We don’t have a release time for the iPhone version yet. Currently our plan is to feature the new iPhone and iPad version of XactScope at our User Conference in February and we are targeting a release for around that time. If you would like to keep up to date on announcements, including possible opportunities to beta test latest releases of our software, you can sign up at http://my.xactware.com/. I’ll also keep you posted on this blog

Thanks Orestas, for the comments and insights. Like you, we’ve been thinking about the camera and Sketch. The camera will be supported and you will be able to seamlessly take photos for your estimates. The current iPhones and iPads aren’t robust enough to support a full-featured Sketch version but you will be able to export XactScope information to your desktop Xactimate software and quickly use the data for a full Sketch.

We’ll keep you posted on developments.
