CEPR co-director Dean Baker will be a panelist at this <a href="http://www.epi.org" target="_blank">Economic Policy Institute</a>  event, along with Jon Faust (director of the Center for Financial Economics at John Hopkins University), George Goehl (Executive Director of National People's Action), and William Greider (journalist and author of numerous books including &quot;Secrets of the Temple,&quot; about the Federal Reserve).&nbsp; Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will be the keynote speaker and Nancy Cleeland of EPI's Bailout Analysis Project will be the moderator.&nbsp; <a href="http://dia.epi.org/t/6837/event/index.jsp?event_KEY=50447" target="_self">RSVP</a>  with EPI to attend this event.</span>

Last month, massive community resistance erupted after President Garcia of Peru used such orders to implement the US-Peru Free Trade Agreement (FTA), including new rights for investors in the Amazon.&nbsp; Meanwhile, other countries in the region <span class="pageIntro">are pursuing alternatives to IMF agreements and IMF-led policies for economic development.</span></span>
