I was a researcher at Granada on the Flying Start festival which took place at Granada TV studios in Quay Street in 1991, FAC 318 the FS exhibition stand was used buy Factory to exhibit at the show. It had a number of Factory related promotion material including a small card pop out construction of the Hacienda along with tee shirts and other artwork. The stand itself was large printed foam boards with Factory artwork and logos. It was last seen in Princess Street after I dropped it back there with Tony Wilson the day after the exhibition/festival closed. We edited a show which was a round up of the event which was to be transmitted the following day, once Tony had voiced it, he, Yvette and I drove over to Factory HQ to drop it off. I can't believe they still had the directory board up all those years later. I used to go there every so often in the mid 80s. I remember meeting Miranda Stanton there. I think by the end of the 80s as Factory was closing, Michael had moved operations to his apt near Bryant Park. He called it Cascando Studios.

One of the most achingly gorgeous, atmospheric and under-appreciated albums of the 1980s. The melodies are just dreamy in their melancholy and beauty.... it's The Wake's crowning achievement for sure and it's so gratifying to know that at long last it has been getting the belated recognition and appreciation from both critics and new bands alike who have taken to citing as an influence, and indeed revisiting, its fragile synth-driven elegies that occasionally soar right up into the stratosphere.
