Somethiing that could be expanded by the student into a true LOB application. I love your site because the examples are VB.Net - my language of choice - most Silverlight and MVC examples are C#. You should look for next keywords: winsock(a tool in vb - you can send things with TCP or UDP ), TCP protocol (you should know some thing about that protocol), how to forward port (if you want to make a chat room and you want to host the chat - TCP) and how to merge dlls with (visual basic) exe files (when you use winsock the cmpiler auto-exports some dlls - if you want to have it all in one file you have to merge).
