Oshawa newborn photography offers a specialized genre of photography that captures the beauty and innocence of newborn babies. It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. After going through a divorce and another disaster of a relationship, I took the last two years to focus on my healing and better myself. I will spare you the details, but can we talk about this gorgeous Mama? Local to Oshawa, she was excited for the opportunity to join us in the water! My friend Laura was visiting from New Liskeard and we were looking for a model who would brave the cold waters of Lake Ontario. She did NOT disappoint!

There’s something magical about maternity photos taken in the water. The way the water flows around the belly, the way it glimmers in the sunlight, and the way it makes the expectant mother look weightless and serene all come together to create a truly beautiful image.

Water can be a soothing and calming element for pregnant women, and it can make for a stunning backdrop for maternity photos. Whether it’s a serene lake, a glistening pool, or the ocean waves crashing behind her, a pregnant woman can look stunning in the water.

The water can also help to highlight the curves of the belly, making it even more beautiful and prominent in the photos. And with the right lighting, the water can create a natural, ethereal glow around the mother-to-be.

So if you’re considering taking maternity photos, don’t be afraid to get in the water. It may just be the perfect setting for capturing this special time in your life.

There is so much to think about in the beginning months of pregnancy. One thing that many couples do not consider early in the pregnancy is choosing a newborn photographer. You can easily find many photographers that will be more than happy to photograph your newborn. However, if you want quality newborn portraits and a memorable experience, it pays to do your homework.

Love Their Work

Pinterest is full of beautiful newborn photography. Chances are, you have already seen pictures that made you dream of your own little one. Before looking for a professional newborn photographer, it is important that you have an idea of the style of photography you are drawn to and also what you will do with the photographs. Will you display them over your baby’s crib or  display them on your wall? Will you share the portraits with grandparents or possibly use them for birth announcements? Professional photography is an art and a good photographer will have their own individual style. Pay attention to the style of photos that evoke emotion in you.

Finding Your Photographer

Finding a photographer that you click with is key! Feeling a warm connection with whomever you choose, helps ensure a pleasant experience. You will want to begin looking for a newborn photographer as early as possible. The best newborn photographer’s schedules fill up months in advance. I suggest searching for local photographers online and through word of mouth. Search Oshawa Newborn Photography for local newborn photographers in our area. Professionals will have an online presence. Look at your photographer’s reviews. Reviews are a great way to see what other client’s experiences have been. Are their reviews current? Are they consistent? Reviews are a great way to get a sense of your photographer’s personality and their level of customer service.

Location

A seasoned newborn photographer will have prepared a cozy place for mom and dad as well as a warm and safe environment for your baby. You will want to visit their studio for a consultation.  Families with siblings or shy children feel safer when they have met the Photographer and visited the studio prior to your portrait session. A consultation is a great opportunity to customize your portrait session to ensure that your needs will be met.

Safety

Does your photographer use an assistant? That extra pair of hands and eyes is imperative in order to keep your baby safe. Many of the newborn poses that you see are composites of more than one camera shot and then overlapped in editing. This takes great skill and training. It would be impossible to get these shots safely without an assistant due to newborns not being strong enough to hold a pose. Most parents just assume that the photographer is considering the safety of their newborn. However, some amateur photographers lack the necessary training and will attempt these poses without the proper support of your little one. This can be very dangerous. No photo is worth endangering your baby. A professional photographer should also be fully insured.

Investment

Fine art newborn portraits are an investment. Of all the things you buy for your newborn baby, those first moments that you capture will be the gift that keeps on giving. You will be amazed at how fast your baby grows and changes. It’s hard to imagine how much you will treasure your investment until you look back at how precious and tiny they once were. It is important to find a photographer that will produce beautiful photos of your baby that you are proud to display. You may have to splurge to get the quality and experience, but it will be money well spent. Make sure you understand what your total investment will include and carefully read the contract.

Tammy & Nigel’s son Owen joined us as our Consultation where he was able to familiarize himself to the studio, waiting room, to myself, as well as the toys and snacks we have to offer. I also got the opportunity to work with Owen during our Maternity Session and by the time it came to the Newborn Session…. he warmed up so much – he listened on command! It was hilarious and absolutely adorable!

Owen has such a big heart towards his sister. Anytime Kayla would cry – big brother Owen would come find her and console her. He loves giving his baby sister kisses and just watching her. The love and bond between these two is undeniable.

This gallery warms my heart. It’s such a stunning depiction of family, love, and grace. A week after delivering the images, I received a message from Tammy sharing with me how much these images still make her cry.

I am beyond thankful to Caitlin and Daniel for trusting me when dealing with their precious baby boy. So much goes into planning for a newborn session and it was great going over all of their ideas during our consultation. They fell in love with the rustic and owl set along with the stone blue set. Being purposeful about fostering thankfulness doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming. It really is more an attitude of the heart. Focusing on blessings can bring everything into a healthy perspective when we feel overwhelmed by life’s troubles that we all face. It seems like our troubles naturally take up more real estate in our thinking than everything that is good and right in our lives. When I feel overwhelmed, I sometimes have to take a mental inventory of blessings versus troubles. Writing it down side by side is a powerful attitude adjustment.

Thankfulness can also be a precious gift passed down to the next generation. Children, in themselves, are such a blessing. Many of life’s lessons are caught more than they are taught.  As parents, practicing thankfulness and gratitude in big and small ways, will teach your children to do the same.

I wanted to give some practical and fun ways to infuse thankfulness back into Thanksgiving this year. My hope is that you will make beautiful memories with those that you love this season.

* Make a thankful tree. Grab some branches from a tree. Drop them in a vase. Cut out paper leaves and write things you are thankful for on them. Attach the leaves to the tree as you lead up to Thanksgiving. Your thankful tree can be a great conversation starter over Thanksgiving dinner.

* Create a Thankful Questions Jar: Write thankful questions and drop them into a jar. Each
morning have the children pick a question from the jar. You can also do this around the table.

Questions might include:

Name one person you are thankful for and why?
Name one thing in your room you are thankful for
Name an activity you are thankful for
Name a part of your body you are thankful for such as your eyes or ears

• At the Thanksgiving meal, go around the table and say something you really appreciate or
admire about the person sitting next to you.

These are just a few ideas to foster thankfulness this Thanksgiving. One of the things I am thankful for is you, my friends and clients. You make my life rich and full. It is such a blessing to me to be able to capture the joy of a newborn and watch your families grow.

I pray that you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.
