Beginning today, Airtel will automatically upgrade the bandwidth of all its customers to 2Mbps, so that people can sit back & enjoy live streaming without any glitches. This perk is available until the end of the IPL season.

Wondering if you have to shell out some extra cash?? No worries! Airtel is offering this upgrade free of cost!! But of course, your data transfer limit will still be governed by your existing plan. So, in case your current plan imposes a download limit, then you might have to pay for the extra data consumed on a per byte basis, which is definitely expensive.

But there is a hitch. The 2MBps is applicable only for live streaming on http://www.youtube.com/IPL. This means that you cannot watch an episode of your favorite soap or a movie at the increased bandwidth. And this offer will be withdrawn after the end of IPL.

I personally feel that this tie-up between Airtel & Youtube is a move in the right direction for both. It marks the beginning of a new era where we can abandon theTV set and depend on our internet connection for everything. This tie-up is also likely to boost the sales of Airtel and also enhance its brand name. Most of the people who have made use of this facility are giving a good feedback about the quality of the video. Also, the bufferring time is considerably less when compared to regular youtube video streaming. Thanks to this unique initiative from Airtel, this is the first time in the history of sports that a cricket match has got extensive viewership.In fact, youtube must be grateful to Airtel for this!

There are 2 things that TV addicts are waiting for tomorrow. The first one, as you may have rightly guessed is start of the DLF IPL tournament 2010. What about the second?? Well, its the hugely popular Vodafone ZooZoo ads.

The previous IPL season saw the launch of the ZooZoos and it became an instant hit among the old & the young alike. Vodafone hopes to recreate the same magic this time around. In fact people are more anxious to find out how Vodafone is going to present the ZooZoos than finding out who will emerge the champions of the tournament.

But I’m skeptical of how the response to the ZooZoos will be this time. I feel so because during IPL ‘09, the ZooZoos came as a complete surprise to all the viewers. The cuteT, rounded creatures instantly appealed to everybody. The popularity of the ZooZoos sky-rocketed when Vodafone revealed that they are in fact humans and not computer generated images. The following months saw a craze for ZooZoo wallpapers, keychains, T-Shirts and other ZooZoo junk.

This time around, the situation has considerably changed. I personally feel that the ZooZoo ads will not be received with the same enthusiasm & vigor as last time unless Vodafone does something drastically different. But friends, Vodafone is known for pulling up surprises! They did with the Hutch dog, and they did with the ZooZoos 1.0 last year Lets see if they can pull it off with ZooZoos 2.0!

The ads will be telecasted from March 12th. You can also catch a preview of them on facebook. Make sure that you don’t miss them.

Code jam is back…
Now is the time to prove you in the world of programming.
You may be wondering what I’m talking about it is Google code jam.
This is a game to solve though and challenging problems in programming world.

This is an open competition for all professionals and students. This allows participants to compete in programmer’s choice of programming language and development environment.
This has four online rounds and finals at Dublin, Ireland.

It has an attractive price money of $5000 for first place,$2000 for second place,$1000 for third place and fourth and fifth with $100.

The registration has already started from 7th, April, 2010.
After that there is a qualification round on 7th May, 2010.Where in 24 hours will be given to solve the problem and post.

After that there are 3 online rounds followed by finals at Dublin.
The first online round had 3 sub parts with 15 hour gap for each sub round which starts on 22nd May, 2010.
Then second round is on 5th June, 2010 and 12th June, 2010 third round.
The finals are on 30th June, 2010.

I feel lethargic thinking about he amount of time people invested to gather information before the Internet. They actually had to leave their comfortable home and go search for data. Libraries, speaking to people, interviewing, pounding the pavement, etc.

Obviously, research is still done this way, and God forbid there ever be a day without books or communication, but for quick info these methods are seldom. Now, just plug your query into Google, and voila, information.

However, this has created an even lazier species. When you Google something, you are provided with an almost infantine amount of links and a plethora of information. Must we filter through all of this?

Luckily, there are websites that you can just submit your question and get answers. These search engines combine human brain-power and technology. Ask one of these websites a question and they will furbish you an answer.

Now these sites employ “experts” in the relative field, who are probably just Googling your question and providing you with a summary of what Google said. However, that is not a problem.

Now the accuracy COULD be questionable, and its not recommend you research your business model like this. However, if you need information about what blue tooth will work with your phone and still transmit your mp3s you may be in luck.

Instead of searching on Google, and being overwhelmed with paid ads, or SEO tight web-pages, just let these sites do the work for you. For a fee, ChaCha and KGB can transmit your answer to your cell via text message, or Real Advice will furbish you a free email answer.

The world at your finger tips, that’s what I’m talking about! Information needed = Answer provided. And to think, Charles Darwin had to go all the way to the Galapagos..

I didn’t believe this until I actually saw it! When a friend of mine mentioned that the latest Wheel detergent ad features Salman Khan, I was like, “”You crazy??? Why will Salman Khan endorse a detergent?”

But alas, I was proved wrong! After endorsing a particular soft drink brand, telling us to wear branded clothes , Sallu now tells us why we should all be buying Wheel detergent powder!

Sallu is ably supported by co-star, Prachi Desai – who plays the role of the dutiful wife with the “oh-my-detergent-is-horrible” look on her face. Of course, she is irritated that her mud-color detergent is ruining her clothes and is visible upset. Then, comes our dear Sallu, trying to cheer her up. But she will have none of it. And then comes the true saviour – Wheel!!! Our dear Sallu, throws the old detergent out of the window and hands over the newone to Prachi (btw, she now gives the “I-dont-think-this-will-work” look )
But surprise, surprise!! The clothes are stain-free, dust free and also get a shiny look (I’m sure even brand new clothes wont have that glossy look – the power of graphics u see ) And now, Prachi & Sallu do a little jig and are eventually mesmerized by the sweet flowery fragrance that the clothes are emitting.

After watching this ad, the one thought that came to my mind was, “Sallu, Are you so desperately in need of some cash that you agreed to pose for a detergent ad”? This comes as a complete departure from the macho image that he had built up over all these years. Is he trying to impress the average Indian housewife so that she watches “Veer”?? Or is he so deep in debt that he had to resort to doing such ads to payback the moneylenders?

Hmm….I think its the latter

Deccan Chargers who had finished at the bottom of the table in ‘08, captured the top spot in ‘09. So, by the same formula, I think the Kolkata Knight Riders might pull off a surprise win this time.. Who knows??

The action begins at Hyderabad on March 12th, where Deccan Chargers will play against KKR. The journey will continue through most of the Indian metropolitan cities & end on the 25th of April. With the recent launch of the Tiger Text Application for the iPhone (Blackberry and Droid soon to follow), texters can now rest assured that their text messages will only be read by intended parties. This new app allows the text message’s sender to give the message a lifespan, ranging from one minute, to multiple days. After the recipient opens the message, a timer begins a countdown, deleting the message from both parties’ phones and the server upon expiration. Like a modern day Mission Impossible, the messages self destruct, and cease to exist in a matter of moments, keeping the text message confidential.

Most bloggers are relating the application to Tiger Wood’s infidelity. They refer to the scandalous text messages he sent his mistresses, and claim that this product would have saved his tail. Ironically, this app would have prevented his messages from leaking to his wife or the press, but the application is named after the animals which are notoriously difficult to track. As convenient as this app may be for cheaters, Tiger Text keeps all of the text messages sent between users private, regardless of their motive.

I cannot recall a time when I have sent a text message that I wanted retransmitted…but it happens. Whether it is a business idea, a drunken text, spreading gossip, or just a friendly chat, I would prefer my point be understood by the recipient, and the message not passed on.

The Internet has created limitless global communication, and with the social media phenomenon and new startups as strong as ever, the ability share information has never been easier.

With privacy rights constantly being challenged by free speech on the Internet, I am glad that there is finally an application that will prevent my text messages from ever going public.
