I think we can safely say that yesterday, at least one disenfranchised single mother made her way to the voting booth, because Chad Condit gave her a reason to vote.

On election day, we stopped at a woman’s house who was not home. However, her daughter was there. She was not on our voter list because she “hasn’t voted forever because there was no reason to vote for any of them anymore.”

We had a short conversation about how Chad was running for the very reason she has not been voting, told her how there were 100 people walking the streets for Chad, we were running a grassroots campaign against the parties, and so on … she said, “he sounds like someone worth voting for.”

About 10 minutes later, I met up with Couper Condit, Chad’s 16 year-old son, and he said “I’m going to go back to make sure she votes.” Couper informed me that they had a great conversation. She turned out to be fairly religious. Couper then drew upon some words from his great-grandfather and minister, Adrian (known as “Pa”), who continues to be an inspiration to the family. The conversation concluded with the young woman saying, “Jesus would want me to vote today.”

I was just looking through Chad’s Facebook page and reading all the great comments when I happened to click on a person’s profile who just “liked” Chad’s page.

She appears to be a single mom, and she’s Chad’s newest supporter.

I think we can safely say that yesterday, at least one disenfranchised voter made her way to the voting booth, because Chad Condit gave her a reason to vote.

Congress was not always this partisan. Sure, Democrats and Republicans have had core principles on which they traditionally stood, but good representatives used to work together toward practical solutions in the interest of all Americans.

It is easy to complain about the ineffectively of Congress, and for good reason. But if we do not diagnose the problems with our current system of representation, we can’t expect a cure. I believe that most of our current political strife can be traced to a partisan electoral system, media, and culture that has slowly reduced the problems we face to a shallow two-sided debate. And those of us with alternative ideas, solutions, or who otherwise don’t fit into the cookie cutter Red v. Blue finger-pointing parade get pushed to the sidelines.

But Congress was not always this partisan. Sure, Democrats and Republicans have had core principles on which they traditionally stood, but good representatives used to work together toward practical solutions in the interest of all Americans.

Now, the Democrats and Republicans have turned government into a game where everything is about winning. Red legislators are given a game plan, and if they run the wrong route you’re put on the bench. Blue Congresspersons are given a road map, and if they turn down the wrong street, they lose their license. And if a Blue and takes a Red position or a Red a Blue, well forget about running for office ever again; coach says your off the team.

The best way to end the partisanship is to elect independent candidates who are not connected to either the Republicans or the Democrats.

The Valley has sent both Republicans and Democrats to Congress. It was not that many years ago when Independent Democrats and Independent Republicans worked together to resolve problems. The partisan Washington crowd, on both sides, has silenced the independent thinkers.

If the people of this community will stand behind me, there is nothing Washington can offer, nor any threat Washington can make that can compare to what I have already seen. I know their game. I will be respectful, mindful of the opportunity to find common ground, but unswayed by their efforts to cajole or intimidate. Truly Independent. That’s what makes me different.

If you, like me, are ready to take back our government, I hope you will join us over the next week as we seek to make history. We are taking on two of the most powerful machines in the world, and we need your help.

First, thank you all again for supporting me and my independent campaign for Congress. There is no doubt that this campaign is not only turning heads, but proving that the people of the Central Valley are sick and tired of partisan politics, and with California’s new open primary rules, we are ready to take our government back.

Rumor on the street is that the politicos in Sacramento and DC have started to take note of our campaign. Now, as we approach the election, the Democratic and Republican machines are being fueled with outside money. They’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on signs, mail pieces, and other advertisements for my opponents. Expect phone calls and paid walkers to encourage you to vote for the partisans.

See, the Democrats and Republicans spend millions of dollars, because spending money is easier than listening to the voters. Its easier to run a commercial that says nothing of substance than to go to senior homes, veterans events, parades, and student forums, where you have to actually talk to people concerned about real issues.

Its easier to drop a bunch of mail on a door-step than to walk every single community in the district so that you can have a two-way conversation with the people you are asking to support you.

And its easier to pander to the base of your party by using talking points that no party-line voter will disagree with, than to do what a true representative should do; bring everyone to the table and find solutions to the problems that we have disagreements over.

If you, like me, are ready to take back our government, I hope you will join us today. We are taking on two of the most powerful machines in the world, and we need your help. We could use your help today. Of course, you can always find updated information from my Website, Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter pages.

On Memorial Day weekend and as a former member of the Navy, I want to thank those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our liberties.

I will always advocate for a strong national defense, but current intervention around the world weakens both our defense and our economy. The $700 billion we spend on our military empire and the $50 billion we hand out to other countries as foreign aid could pay off a lot of debt, protect Social Security and Medicare, support our veterans who have sacrificed so much for this country, and strengthen our porous borders right here at home.

There was a day when not “policing the world” was a legitimate and well respected position in both the Democratic and Republican Party. Now, both parties are sending us and keeping us in no-win wars, with over 700 military bases in over 120 countries. In the last 10 years, we’ve lost over 5,000 lives, millions of foreign civilians have died, and trillions of dollars have been spent waging these “wars for democracy.”

This Memorial Day weekend, we should honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, for freedom cannot survive without the brave soldiers that defend it. And as we honor the fallen, we should internalize the debt we owe them in both our memory and our foreign policy.

Please join us at the Lakewood Cemetery in Hughson on Monday at 1:00pm to pay tribute.

I am running for Congress because this district should not be beholden to Washington, DC outsiders so that they will show up in the district two weeks before the election and hold a lavish fundraiser.

John Boehner’s visit to Modesto is welcome news for my honorable opponent, Jeff Denham. But what Speaker Boehner’s visit symbolizes is much more than a showing of support for the incumbent. It is a rubber-stamp from the Washington, DC Republican machine as a token of gratitude for voting along the party-line 97% of the time he’s been in Congress.

Jeff Denham's Website: Two Weeks Before Election

While Denham has made time to host the Speaker, he has yet to post a single issue on his website for the people of the Central Valley. However, if history is any indicator, we could look to the Republican Party platform to find out how he will vote.

Speaker Boehner will host a $500 a plate dinner for Denham. Donate $2,500 and you can have a 30-miunute photo shoot with the Washington, DC star.

How many people can attend this dinner? How many people will be able to ask Jeff Denham questions? How many issues that matter to the Central Valley like water and agriculture will take precedent over the national Republican talking points that will pervade this affluent affair?

From the Modesto Bee

We need to return to an era when representatives worked for the people of their district. We need leaders that will open their doors to the people of the Central Valley, before they lay down red carpet for the Washington, DC elite that perpetuate our partisan problems.

That is why I, Chad Condit, have opened my website, my Facebook page, and my campaign office to anyone who wants to know more about my campaign or get involved. While Denham and Hernandez have skipped out on debates and community functions, I’ve been shaking hands with the people of the district.

While Denham reaches out to D.C. lobbyists for some campaign cash and Hernandez looks to labor unions and the Democratic Party to guide him into office, I’ve been hosting “Chats with Chad,” walking door-to-door in every community in the district and accepting every invite I can to let the people know where I stand on the serious issues facing us today.

I am running for Congress because I believe government is about representing your entire constituency, not just a partisan portion of it. I am running for Congress because this district should not be beholden to Washington, DC outsiders so that they will show up in the district two weeks before the election and hold a lavish fundraiser. I am running for Congress because I am the only Candidate who is from the district. I am the only candidate that will truly represent it.

Dear Neighbor,

The election is closing in and there’s no longer any doubt that we can win. Over the past several months I’ve been going door-to-door meeting voters who are sick and tired of the partisan rhetoric, pandering, and bad ideas coming out of Washington.

The Central Valley is ready to call it like we see it. Partisan candidates will fall in line with the same group that has proven they are unable to get the job done for the American people. We’ve seen it plenty of times before, empty promises of better days that are left at the door when the candidates get into office. Now is the time to wake the place up and only an independent voice from the Central Valley can do it. Only a representative that answers solely to the people of their district, not to special interests, big money, or parties.

Both sides have shown that they are more concerned with winning than with the success of the American people. Enough is enough. It’s time to put the left vs. right tug-of-war to rest. We know it doesn’t work.

We have two weeks. Two weeks to send a shockwave across the country, letting them know that Americans are ready for real solutions. Two weeks to say we’ve had enough of the same old talking points. Two weeks to start making the system work for real Americans.

Join me as we push through the primary. In the last two weeks we plan to contact every voter in the district, but we need your help. Power the movement by making a donation. No amount is too small. We don’t have party coffers, only what we receive from real Americans. Our goal is $10,000, a small price for hitting back when the parties start throwing punches. A few close friends have agreed to match donations up to their maximum. Help me take their money. Your dollars will not go to waste.

America is watching, let’s finish what we started.

Chad Condit
Independent for Congress

It is not very often these days that we get to look past the scripted partisan sermons and listen to people not as Republicans and Democrats, but as members of our community. While my partisan opponents pander the same old talking points and call their parties leaders to get their next marching orders, I am proud and honored that people across the Central Valley are standing up for me, Chad Condit, in my bid to bring an independent voice to Washington, D.C.

The bottom line is that without Chad Condit's intervention, it would have been many years before Salida Middle School students would've had a cafeteria and a woodshop. This is one of the many reasons I’m supporting Chad Condit!

On June 5, I will be voting for Chad Condit and here’s why. Soon after becoming superintendent of the Salida Union School District in 1998, I became aware that the district was eligible for approximately $2.4 million as reimbursement for the construction of Dena Boer School, which had been paid with local funds.

When we contacted the Office of Public School Construction, we were told not to bother to submit the necessary paperwork, as they were not willing to even consider the district’s request.

At that time, I called Chad Condit and asked him to contact the Office of Public School Construction and ask that they review our application for reimbursement.

Soon after that, we were contacted by the Office of Public School Construction and directed to submit the necessary paperwork for reimbursement for construction of Dena Boer School.

We ended up receiving approximately $2.4 million. The district used these funds to complete phase 2 of Salida Middle School, which included, among other things, a cafeteria and a woodshop.

The bottom line is that without Chad Condit’s intervention, it would have been many years before Salida Middle School students would’ve had a cafeteria and a woodshop.

This is one of the many reasons I’m supporting Chad Condit!

-Tony Borba
Superintendent of Salida Union School District

I became an independent because I saw from the inside how corrosive partisanship has become. I became an independent because both parties treat voters with contempt and treat corporate bosses, labor bosses, and party bosses with mindless deference.

A few days ago, the Modesto Bee decided who they stand with. At a time when winning elections has become more important to the parties than solving problems, the paper took the interesting position of supporting BOTH the Democrat and the Republican.

But, the paper got one thing right: the race for Congress is a three-way race. In 2010 I worked to help bring the new open primary to California because the open primary brings to every voter the freedom to vote for any candidate regardless of party.

Obviously, I respectfully disagree with the paper’s unusual decision to endorse two politicians with totally opposite positions on almost every issue. But, I am pleased that the Bee disclosed its motive:

“We want to see a November election with a clear choice.”

This way of looking at politics is precisely what is wrong with our country. Dumbing down every issue to “Red” vs. “Blue” has turned Washington into a bitter partisan debating society.

Government should be serious business. It is not enough for those at the table to have strong ideas. They also have to listen well enough to understand what other peoples’ ideas are, and skilled enough to bring people from “contrasting viewpoints” together.

Washington has a surplus of smart, partisan politicians who can debate until the cows come home. Picking another partisan Republican or partisan Democrat will make no difference whatsoever.

The Bee might prefer the “choice” of extreme partisans, but our valley and our country loses.

I became an independent because my party left me. I became an independent because I saw from the inside how corrosive partisanship has become. I became an independent because both parties treat voters with contempt and treat corporate bosses, labor bosses, and party bosses with mindless deference.

For those of you who are tired of the game and want some real contrast after the election, I hope you will consider voting for Chad Condit, Independent.
