Oh how I love Alessandro Dell’Acqua! So glad he is still around and love his two year old line No.21 which he just showed in Milan (have I mentioned how much I miss covering Milan & Paris shows?…) For years he’s been doing what certain other designers “revolutionized” a few years ago.

Obsessed with this new track called “Genesis” from Grimes. Canadian Claire Boucher’s upcoming third solo album as Grimes Visions came out yesterday in the US and will be out on March 12th in Europe. There is a reason why we are all obsessed with Mad Men, myself inlcuded. Let’s be honest, our world has lost just a little of the refinement that used to make it special and I for one will not argue with anyone who wants to reign in the chaos a tad and bring back some old school manners and charm. That said, there are a slew of smart brands that are happily singing the gospel of nostalgia by launching collections inspired by Mad Men. Estée Lauder is the latest with gilded compacts and fluted lipsticks which are all part of their the new limited-edition Estée Lauder Mad Men Collection launching next month to coincide with the show’s fifth season. Next Wednesday there is also a private event in LA to celebrate Janie Bryant‘s latest Banana Republic collection which hits stores on March 1st. Janie is of course the famed costume designer on the show who we bow to (along with the creators of the show) for bringing back the era of long martini lunches, cheating spouses who got away with it (sort of…) and a time that makes us simultaneously long for unspoken debauchery and a relief that we live in a time when anything goes (and we can talk about it, sometimes too much…)

Alexander McQueen (Sarah Burton) did their first runway show for the McQ line which is gorgeous. I love the tinges of inspiration from the motherland. And speaking of today’s ongoing theme of well dressed men, my man would definitely wear McQ…

A few years ago while I was working as Fashion Editor for WWD a young designer named Sara Shepherd emailed me with a lookbook from her 2nd collection. I went crazy over it. Loved it and started shooting it for WWD every chance I got which resulted in two covers, a ton of other styling opportunities for me to use her designs and a lifetime (I hope) friendship and working relationship with someone I adore, admire and respect. She went to London’s famed Central St. Martin’s and for the past few years has worked out of San Francisco. I love Sara’s tailoring and cuts and her feel for the hard and soft edges which match my own aesthetic. These are a few shots from her Fall 2012 collection which she asked me to photograph. I don’t think I post enough about men’s fashion which I LOVE. I hate to admit it but yes, sometimes I judge a man by his clothes and we know shoes tell most of the story so if he were wearing some Barker Black shoes I would probably assume a lot of good things about him. Luckily they have stores in my two favorite cities which I call home, NY & LA. More shoes for my dream man below (where is my punk rock prince in a suit with gorgeous sleeves underneath anyway)?

I can’t even remember the last time Christopher Bailey got it wrong (has he ever??) so it goes without saying that the Burberry Prorsum fall 2012 collection is killer. More below…

I can not get enough of the navy & blue thing. Seriously obsessed. And to think blue was my least favorite color when I was young (I preferred black and green, no sure what that means). So in order to keep obsessively looking at anything and everything blue I’ve pulled together some of Spring’s bluest hues. Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 runway to the left and Spring sampling below including awesome shades of blue from Chanel beauty along with Manolo Blahnik heels, J Crew striped sweater, Prada tote bag, Paul Smith blazer, Miu Miu dress and Chan Luu cashmere scarf. Oh and this amazing looking blue perfume bottle I am dying over!
