<title><![CDATA[Voice (in the axis of influence series)]]></title>

<P><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=2>'Voice'&nbsp;is a tool which helps community groups and networks to assess and improve the influence they have on agencies and partnerships. The &#8216;axis&#8217; in 'voice' plots existing capacity to influence against how influential the group feels. It can be used to: assess and monitor community influence, prompt discussion and debate within groups and help plan how to become more influential. </FONT></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><FONT size=2><SPAN>The overall purpose of the Women Take Part </SPAN><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: GillSans; mso-bidi-font-family: GillSans; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB">event was to bring together the research findings so far, both in terms of what organisations need to be doing to &#8216;recruit&#8217; and encourage more women, as well as the learning around &#8216;learning programmes/approaches&#8217;. It provided an opportunity for dialogue from both &#8216;sides&#8217; and explored different aspects of what needs to happen to increase the numbers of women involved in governance and decision making at all levels. The feedback from the event was then combined with other research findings.</SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>

<title><![CDATA[Women Take Part: Where are all the women in the voluntary and community sector?]]></title>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><FONT size=2><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The findings from these groups show that when voluntary and community organisations are very small, often with no paid staff, women are far more likely than men to be running them and to be members of the management group. Once the organisation&#8217;s expenditure increases the number of men on the management group also increases and the numbers of women in the governance and management role decreases.</FONT></FONT></P>
