MTV Gives Fans a Sneak Peek at Channing Tatum’s ‘Magic Mike’

Next week, MTV will kickoff their second annual Sneak Peek Week at 5 Towers on Universal CityWalk! To get everyone ready for the 2012 Movie Awards ceremony (where Chan has four nominations), they will show an exclusive clip from upcoming movies each night on MTV, followed by a special Q&A with cast members on MTV.com.

Fans can catch Chan on MTV’s Sneak Peek Week at 11 p.m. ET/PT on May 31st when he introduces an exclusive clip from ‘Magic Mike‘! Immediately after the on-air presentation, MTV News’ Josh Horowitz will be on hand for a Q&A with the Chan live on MTV.com. You can “virtually” join the Q&A and submit questions via Twitter by using the hash tag #MTVSneak.

Want to join in on the show in person? MTV is letting eighty lucky movie fans see an advanced screening of the film! Right after the screening, you will get to attend the Q&A session with Chan, and MTV will be filming, so you could end up on TV! CLICK HERE to get tickets.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s Documentary ‘Earth Made of Glass’ Wins Peabody Award

Huge congratulations are in order for Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Reid Carolin, and Deborah Scranton!! Today in New York, their incredible documentary, ‘Earth Made of Glass‘, just received a prestigious Peabody Award, which recognizes excellence in radio, television, and new media.

Chan and Jenna executive produced ‘Earth Made of Glass‘ with Reid via their production company 33&Out and Deborah’s Clover & a Bee Films. The political documentary had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival (with the President of Rwanda in attendance), was an official selection at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and also received a 2011 Producers Guild Award nomination for Best Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture.

‘Earth Made of Glass‘ was also picked up by HBO, where fans can watch it on HBO Signature East on Tuesday, May 22nd at 8:40 AM Central and on HBOGO through May 31st, and you can CLICK HERE to buy the DVD.

In the documentary, director Deborah Scranton (“The War Tapes”) examines the personal and political repercussions of the deadly conflict in the east African country of Rwanda and explores issues of peace, retribution, accountability and justice, ultimately discovering a blueprint for ending the cycle of violence.

Here’s a synopsis…

On August 6th, 2008, against the backdrop of the world’s deadliest war in neighboring Eastern Congo, Rwandan President Paul Kagame released a report detailing the French government’s hidden role in planning the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Three months later, his closest aide, Rose Kabuye, is arrested by France on charges of terrorism.

Meanwhile, Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, a genocide survivor haunted by his father’s unsolved murder, scours the Rwandan countryside on a fifteen-year-search for clues – ultimately finding himself confronted with his darkest desire: being face to face with his father’s killer.

As President Kagame fights to free Rose from France and expose the truth about what really happened in Rwanda fifteen years ago, Jean-Pierre journeys to the scene of the crime, and the doorstep of a killer, to uncover the chilling facts behind his father’s death. As each relentlessly pursues the truth – with the fate of a family and a country hanging in the balance – they find themselves faced with a choice: to enact vengeance or turn the other cheek…

Despite having never met, the story of a President and an ordinary citizen become inextricably linked in this groundbreaking film. Bound by a deep love of country, an insatiable need for the truth, and a hunger for peace, their struggles will set in motion the rebuilding of a family, a nation, and ultimately the entire African continent. Above all, they will shake the very foundations of what it means to forgive – providing a model for ending hatred and violence throughout the world.

Channing Tatum’s ‘Magic Mike’ Chosen as the L.A. Film Festival’s Closing-Night Film

Channing Tatum has had the amazing opportunity to work with Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh three times over the past couple of years…his action film ‘Haywire‘ was just released on DVD and and Blu-ray last week, and he just finished filming a thriller called ‘The Bitter Pill‘ (which is scheduled to release on February 8, 2013) with Rooney Mara and Jude Law in New York last month. Last, but not least, Chan’s highly-anticipated dramatic comedy ‘Magic Mike‘ will hit theaters on June 29, 2012 and fans will get a chance to see it even sooner at the Los Angeles Film Festival!!

‘Magic Mike‘, which the Playlist says “is a big crowd-pleaser — for the ladies and dudes”, will have its world premiere as the closing-night film at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 24th. Individual tickets will go on sale on May 29th, but you can CLICK HERE to buy a pass to the festival.

For those who don’t know, ’Magic Mike‘ stars Chan, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Matt Bomer, Riley Keough, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, and Gabriel Iglesias and is a story of friendship set in the world of exotic male dancing. The film is inspired by (but not based on) Chan’s experiences at a Chippendales-style revue early in his career. Chan plays the main character (Mike), who mentors a young dancer (The Kid) played by Alex Pettyfer and teaches him the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

‘Magic Mike‘ is executive produced by Chan, his producing partner Reid Carolin (who also wrote the screenplay) via their production company, Iron Horse Productions, Nick Wechsler and Gregory Jacobs, and is helmed by director Steven Soderbergh.
