Participants in the recent short-term mission trip from Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen plan to give an informal presentation about experience trip at FOC at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, to anyone and everyone who is interested.

Pancakes at St. Hubert's

Historical society special

In addition to getting your fill of floats, fireworks and fun this weekend, residents can help support the Chanhassen Historical Society in two ways. Mary Jane Klingelhutz and members of the historical society will be selling many unique items at Historic St. Hubert's from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 3 and 4. The Historical Society will also be receiving proceeds from the raffle the is conducted annually at the July 3 Business Expo at City Center Park.

False alarm

The Chaska Police Department released this statement pertaining to the emergency sirens that went off this morning:

"The outdoor warning sirens were activated in Chaska moments ago. This was a false alarm. The county is aware…

"The City of Chanhassen is in control of a remote device, which activates the sirens; indeed, the sirens were activated without a legitimate cause. Chanhassen wrongly activated the warning sirens for the cities of Chaska, Victoria, and Watertown. Perplexingly the sirens did not sound in Chanhassen.

Chanhassen Storm dance team debuts at July 4 parade

Team members and coaches ask everyone to come see the parade and cheer on their new Chanhassen Dance Team.

PAUL — Following one of the deadliest Memorial Day holiday weekends ever, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reinforcing the need for motorists to drive belted, safe and sober during the Independence Day weekend. Last year alcohol-related crashes accounted for five of the eight motorists killed surrounding the holiday.

The Chanhassen Fourth of July Celebration begins Friday, July 3, with nonstop activities through Saturday, finishing with the fireworks specacular at Lake Ann Park.
