HI Vicki, Thanks for your comment. There are only two "sort of" places to park an RV.

We could really use a well run one.

One that is sort of in business and then out of business is in Riberas del Pilar at the extreme South end of San Jorge.

The other is at the far west end of Lake Chapala in a development called Roca Azul (Blue Rock) and is located at the extreme East end of this development.

Sometimes when I'm in this area I peek inot the park but never see anyone parked there or anyone who appears to be in charge, but they do have a large parking area and a sihn indicating an RV park.

You may want to try asking on the web board which you can access from the home page right hand column here on http://www.ChapalaClub.com

If I get any better info I'll add additional comments.

And, if you find better info. please come back here and share it with the rest of us.

Thanks again for your comments, Sid

we are wanting to come down to Lake Chapala in the beginning of Oct. and was wondering if any one can tell us of an RV campground that might be close to Chapala. We really want to check it out as we are very interested in retiring there. We thought if we came in the RV it would give us an advantage of looking around for at least 3 or 4 months. We have two small dogs and figure it would be hard to rent something because of that. I heard of a new resort that was under construction but haven't had an answer back from them. It is called Chapala RV and Resort. Has anyone heard of it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

HI Jan. Thanks for your questions about working here at Lake Chapala Ajijic, Mexico,

You can open a business here, but unless you can convince the authorities that no Mexican is qualified to do the work of the business "cleaning teeth" then you could not work as an employee of your own business, but only over see it as an owner.

Convincing the athorities would be very difficult to do here since there are a whole bunch of Bi lingual dentists that practice here and charge just $25 USD to clean teeth.

You could try to work under the wire, but I think you would soon be found out and asked to leave and not return.

Since we already have so many dentists here doing this I feel fairly certain someone would no doubt complain.

Sorry to be the bearer of such news. Are there other things you might be able to do here with a lot less competition such that you could open a business and hire yourself correctly stating there was not a qualified Mexican to do the work of the business ?

Many North Americans find something they can do on line and earn income from home this way.

The government only allows a certain number of foreign Real Estate Agents to work here, but so far most of us have survived year to year with the argument that we understand our culture and are of the same age as our buyers etc.

But they still limit the number of us that are authorized to be Realtors here.

Thanks again for your comment.I look forward to answering your questions and helping any way I can.

Siempre tu amigo, Sid

Dear Sid,

I have been researching Lake Chapala and area as a possible semi-retirement location for my husband and myself. I would still like to work there as I am only 53. I'm a dental hygienist from the Toronto, Canada area. What would I need to do to work there? Could I work for myself? Could I set up in my home?
After reading every website I think you are the man to go to.
Have a great day and any help you could gie me would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jan

Hi Mary Clare and Veronica, Glad to have you as members. The software for the club site just lets me know how many members we have, not their e mail addresses. So, unless members send me an e mail or post their e mail address I have no way of communicating directly with them so members privacy is totally protected.

Please feel free to share more about "the new store" or the "books" if these are somehow connected to life her at Lake Chapala Ajijic, Mexico. Siempre tu amigo, Sid

Hi Lawrence, Thanks for the correction. Can you tell I'm not a golfer. I appreciate the comment.

We d have a couple of nice courses here or at least they look good to me and the local golfers do enjoy both courses. The one in Chula Vista doesn't allow carts and appears challenging due to the curves and slopes. The ther course is inside the the Vista del Lago edition and forms part of the Chapala Country Club. You can be a golfing only member of the club and you do not need to live in Vista del Lago to join.

They have a pro shop and putting green and I think a driving range as well at Vista del Lago.

Thanks again, Siempre tu amigo, Sid

Dear Sid,

"El Dorado" is my first message from you.

You might tell whom ever decided that the "Golden Bear' was Palmer to do better research. That title belongs to one far less gracious, Jack Nicklaus.

I met both of them at the Bob Hope Open that used to be held in the Palm Springs area.

I responded directly to John at his request, but thought I should also let the rest of Chapala Club members in on just how to determine if your meds are available here.

Most all of the Farmacias' here in the Lake Chapala Ajijic area like Farmacia Guadalajara have large books that list the various medications in English and their Spanish equivalents. Just go the prescription counter with your meds list in hand and ask, "Tiene estas medicinas?" and hand your list to the pharmacist.

Then you can ask the price. "Cuanto cuesta?"

Note: Many medicines which are prescription medicines in the USA or Canada can be bought over the counter in Mexico. Of course you should know just how particular medications affect you. A doctor visit here runs around $25 USD so it's not expensive to get professional help to determine just what medication is right for you.

Special Note: You may be asked as you re enter the USA about buying meds in Mexico and of course you should have a prescription. Any thing considered a Narcotic in the USA will need a prescription here.

Most medications here are significantly less expensive than in the USA. Some are the same or even more expensive. Bring your list when you come to visit us to find out about your own meds.

Finally, you can find generics here not available in the USA which can also lower your medical bills significantly.

Hope this helps. Siempre tu amigo, Sid

Hi Mike, Thanks so much for your kind words. It's always great to hear from satisfied readers.... but I also try and profit from critiques as well. I find both very helpful.

I look forward to helping you any way I can... and there are many ways I can be of help to you here and not just with real estate. My philosophy is that "Friends help friends." And, you can't have too many friends.

Yes, most everything here is less expensive than in the USA or Canada. A few things, like some food items imported from the USA cost more, but on balance most folks find that they can live here for about half of what it cost them to live in the USA or Canada. Some folks save even more.

All for now. Siempre tu amigo, Sid
