Man of Steel is a 2013 American superhero film directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan, and scripted by David S. Goyer.

Synopsis:

A young itinerant worker is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by members of his race.

Review:

Man of Steel had America on the heels of their feet, hoping that Zack Snyder can bring back possibly the most iconic comic book hero of all-time to the big screen with style coupled with plenty of action. Did Synder achieve his desired results. According to RottenTomatoes.com, Man of Steel has a 57%(current) rating. Just before I watched the midnight premiere, Man of Steel was rated at 64%. That’s pretty awful… Nonetheless, I gave it a chance hoping they were wrong.

So after two hours and a half hours, I had to ask myself - “Would I watch Man of Steel again”? Absolutely! Not because it was a great movie but because the movie had some really good actors in Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner. Additionally, the cinematography and effects were beautiful! However the story was put together similar to Lost, in the sense that the story moved back in forth from past to present. While some may be able to stay focused and appreciate the journey of the story, I understand if others feel different.

Man of Steel displayed a few brilliant roles. I believe Kevin Costner played Jonathan Kent better than anyone has. Kent is a strong character who believes in values and morals beyond most humans. Anyone who know the story of Superman know the story of his father Jonathan Kent’s death. Not a spoiler alert. Costner did an amazing job allowing viewers to connect with Jonathan Kent as if he was their dad. When Jonathan Kent died, you can actually feel the pain one would feel knowing their father died. The man who made you believe you were made of steel.

Another Character I’d like to give much appreciation to is Amy Adams for the role of Lois Lane. Lane is a firecracker! Always on the go and ready to break the next big story. While I had my reserves for Adams giving a convincible Lois Lane, I was much surprised. Adams did a great job becoming Lane. I believed in Lane’s drive and determination.

On the negative side, Man of Steel began with 5 minutes of awesome visual effects and live action. Shortly after was the development of Kel El (Clark Kent) which took over an hour. In the middle of it you get glimpses of the villan and Clark Kent as a boy, but each piece felt alone… Kind of like a short film. I mean I love Character and Story Development but in Man of Steel, a lot of the scenes were a bit overdone. Finally the real point of the story, General Zod, goes underway and by this point you’re wondering what the issue was again. Then you remember Zod wanted to rebuild Krypton in his vision (similar to Hitler) by using the planet earth. Now that you remember, you’ve already missed a bunch of cool action scenes. But that was ok because once the action started, it was freaking AWESOME!

Rating:

At the end of it all, I may not be pleased with the flow of Man of Steel and the alterations to the original story line, but I think the movie was really good. Official rating out of 5, and I give it a 3.5. If you are looking to continue the high of the 2013 Blockbuster movie season, definitely get yourself a ticket to see Man of Steel! And if your ballin’ get them 3D goggles and sneak into the IMAX 3D theater! lol

Review
Although I am a huge Zombie fanatic, watching the same ole zombie flick can be a bit tiring. That is why Warm Bodies has caught a lot of attention as of late. In this film, Directed by Jonathan Levine, you get to learn what the zombie apocalypse is like through the eyes and mind of a zombie. While every other zombie film is about the living trying to survive and the emotional toll it has taken on them, you learn compassion for the zombies and want them to be happier. After all it is not their fault they are zombies…

The main character (zombie) R takes his zombie buddies out for a stroll in the city to find food and in the process meets his supporting actress Julie. Immediately he falls for her and begins to think for himself instead of just feeding the craving for human flesh. R saves Julie from the zombies by teaching her how to blend in with other zombies. From then on the two would basically stick together at all cost and form a bond like no other. Who would have thought that a human and a zombie could be friends?

I really loved the idea of Warm Bodies. Seeing the world through a zombie’s eye almost gives you hope that if a zombie apocalypse does arise, at least we won’t be mindless flesh eating monsters.

Score

The concept was great, and the actors did their part but there were moments that could have been more exciting. The deadly Bonies seemed very superior to the regular zombies but proved to be nothing more than faster zombies that can climb walls.

I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Not a must see in theaters but I would still recommend watching. Cute romance and funny zombie talk!

Through Their Eyes | Episode 6.2 “Goodbye”

Through Their Eyes is a Web Series that follows a group of college kids who band together and try to survive a zombie infested world. We also follow two soldiers who are ask to set up a checkpoint while the military try to quarantine the area.

Goodbye: With Kevin dead and Liam seriously ill, the group and Rodriguez still try to find a way to get to the green zone when an unexpected turn of events shocks them all. Will they stay and fight the living dead or head out for the Green Zone despite the turn of events. Watch and see in the Shocking and Emotional Conclusion of Through Their Eyes.
