		<title>BB&amp;T Charleston Food + Wine Festival had the Largest Independent Recycling Efforts for an Event</title>

			<description>The annual BB&amp;T Charleston Food + Wine Festival just wrapped up its fourth year and the recycling efforts made are the largest independent efforts from an event in the Charleston community, according to the Charleston County Environmental Management Department.  Due to the success of our recycling program our waste stream was reduced by over 50%, according to Fisher Recycling. In total 3,000 pounds of cardboard and 8,000 pounds of glass were diverted from our landfills.

			<description>College of Charleston Office of Tourism Analysis Announces Results of Annual Economic Impact Study
Based on the results of the 2009 Economic Impact Study conducted by the College of Charleston Office of Tourism Analysis the 2009 BB&amp;T Charleston Food + Wine Festival had it’s most successful year yet, despite the difficult economic climate.  While the Festival’s financial report will not be out until June 2009, the end of the fiscal year, the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization can report that the Festival will be in the black with a significant increase in its charitable giving.

			<description>Bartenders can now be a part of the action at the 2009 BB&amp;T Charleston Food + Wine Festival with the new Signature Cocktail Competition for the Salute to Charleston’s Chefs: Opening Night Party, sponsored by Ben Arnold Beverage Company. For this competition, area bartenders can submit a recipe featuring one of the following Brown Forman brands—Chambord, Tuaca, Southern Comfort or Woodford Reserve. Once the recipes are received, tasters will visit area restaurants and try the various recipes. Five finalists will be selected from the submissions to prepare and serve their drink in January for a panel of judges at the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s Palmer Campus inside their new Mixology Lab.
