We met in Sutter Creek to capture the beginnings of Andrea and Trevor’s wedding day story, from their home to Bella Grace. Sutter Creek is a small town main street kind of town with old buildings, hospitable people with good hearts, and the love of hard work and family etched in the history of this place. Trevor and Andreas wedding was filled with much of these attributes. With a happy and relaxed attitude, they celebrated with close friends and family in an intimate Amador County backyard which showcased green trees, flowers, rich blue skies, and a grand view of them mountains. I love this place. Congratulations to Trevor and Andrea, and their families.

Volcano, California St. George Hotel wedding, Nick and Caitlin

Nestled in a small part of Amador County, California is a rustic intimate place called Volcano, which has many trees, rivers, old buildings, old trucks, rocks, a small park, and main street which used to host a large population of gold miners in the late 1800′s. Nick and Caitlin married in Volcano last month and we had the privilege of documenting their romantic wedding story in this charming humble town. Their love for each was evident in the all the photos we took. What was inspiring was the arch made from manzanita which Nick built with his constructive skills, to add flavor to their small town woodsy styled wedding. I could photograph rustic mountain weddings all my life and never get bored. Anything with lakes, rivers, trees, mountains, rocks, decaying buildings, lodges, cabins, nature, etc., you name it, I’m all into that stuff. Nick and Caitlin chose a perfect place to showcase their wedding day and many would be jealous of all the beauty here. Amador County is the new Napa of California. Many couples from the city are realizing how beautiful and inexpensive this place is to have their wedding with all the wineries and vineyards in the Shenandoah valley, so it is rapidly growing. Bret Harte high school senior Erika, Calaveras County senior portraits

I love photographing modern weddings, but I also love capturing high school seniors fashionably. I can express my ideas and vision not limited to a location, time, nor outfits. I have more say in the vision than a wedding. Also, I am only giving direction and focused on one person in front of the camera. Lastly, so many teens live in an insecure world of comparison and by default just want to look good and fit in. We all do, but the pressure on teenagers is amplified. When teens are looking to get high school senior photos, they are wanting something extraordinary and epic. So, when families contact me for senior photos, they are not going to get a cookie-cutter, walk-in, walk-out senior photos. I don’t work like that. If you’re coming to me, it means you want something more than just quick photos.

I have been photographing seniors recently, and wanted to share a few images from Bret Harte high school senior, Erika. It seems I photograph many seniors from Amador County, primarily Argonaut high school and Amador high school. I have photographed seniors from Calaveras High and Bret Harte as you can see here on the American High School photoshoot. I’m starting to shoot more Calaveras County seniors now, and I’m excited to expand.

Honored to have photographed Real Weddings Magazine Front Cover

I’m honored to share the cover of the recent issue of the Real Weddings magazine Summer/Fall 2013. A big thanks to all those involved to help make this shoot successful, as it was a team effort. I had been asked to shoot the cover last year and was excited to scope out the venue, The Three Stages at Folsom Lake College, Harris Center for the Arts, with the lovely Wendy Sipple, the editor of the magazine prior to committing. What’s encouraging is that we photographed three real brides (not models) who had been selected during the bridal magazine cover contest. One of three brides who had been selected for the three girl cover is actually one of my 2013 wedding brides, Angel Kang. All three girls were pleasant, even since much was expected of them in such little time. If you look inside the magazine, there are many other photographs from that bridal shoot, which I can’t wait to share as well!

A big thanks to the whole team of people who were involved in the shoot, which are listed below, and of course, Wendy Sipple and her hard working team!
