vile. As online shopping continues to grow, understanding the impact and embracing these changes is
essential for businesses to survive.

This live event will explore the following key topics:

The shift in consumer behaviour and how it affects the retail industry

Online vs brick-and-mortar: what the future holds

The change in the food retail within the food and beverage market

The event will conclude with case studies from leading retailers, Amazon being one of them.

Doing Business in the Isle of Man

      <artist>chataboutmoney</artist>
      <album>Consumer finance related discussion</album>

The world's economic landscape has changed dramatically over the past few years. Amid continuing global uncertainty, the Isle of Man - like many other International Business Centres - needs to adapt fast to meet these new challenges.

The Island is already recognised for its well-regulated economy and competitive business environment, as well as its agile and supportive Government which fosters strong private/public sector partnerships. Its successful, diversified economy consists of established sectors such as financial services, maritime, tourism and precision manufacturing, through to new sectors like e-business, space, cleantech and aviation services.

But as current global economic pressures show little sign of abating, what are the challenges facing businesses - both international and local - in the Isle of Man? How can the Isle of Man work with other key economic partners, such as the UK, to help entrepreneurs and businesses thrive and survive?

To discuss this, we're bringing together Courtenay Heading, founder of cleantech company Bladon Jets, and an Inward Investment Adviser to the Isle of Man Government, and Chris Cummings, Chief Executive of TheCityUK, for a live webcast looking at the future of business in the Isle of Man. They'll be joined by BBC presenter Roger Hearing. Join us at 0900 on 15th November 2012 - and don't forget to submit your questions to our expert panel.

Savings Webcast

      <artist>chataboutmoney</artist>
      <album>Consumer finance related discussion</album>

Economic conditions are turning the UK into a nation of short term savers or preventing us
from saving at all, according to the sixth Savings and Investment report from Scottish
Widows. The report has identified a ‘Risk Triangle’ of groups of financially vulnerable Brits,
made up of parents of children under 16, divorcees and people in their late thirties. A third of
this ‘Risk Triangle’ are more likely to be failing to save, with many doubting that their
savings would last a month if they were to lose their job. Lending to children has increased
by almost a third since the financial downturn, with the average amount of money given or
loaned to children and grandchildren in the UK now £12,846.

Iain McGowan, Head of Savings and Investments at Scottish Widows, hosts a webcast at
12:30pm on 29 March to discuss the key findings from the Scottish Widows Savings and
Investments Report 2012 and to highlight the tax breaks available to investors that can help
them start saving for the future.

Britain is a nation of DNAs (Dare Not Ask) – with seven million people too reserved to talk about money or finances with anyone they know, according to new findings from Scottish Widows. In order to avoid falling into this trap, join us for our live webcast on 26th July when we will be joined by Scottish Widows savings expert Catherine Stewart who will be on hand to offer some straightforward guidance on how to plan your finances for the future.
