CHATTANOOGA, TN – Bo Ferger, Jeff Cole and Doug Johnson announced today the formation of Three Point Ventures, LLC., a mobile technology incubator. Three Point will create, incubate and fund portfolio companies within one of the fastest growing business segments. Currently in the process of fundraising Ferger explained, “Three Point’s unique approach is focused on helping entrepreneurs and young companies mature market-intrusive mobile concepts that will build solid returns for themselves and our investors.” The company’s exclusive focus on mobility reflects the market’s move to ubiquitous computing for business and consumer applications within the mobile space. Jeff Cole elaborated, “With the astonishing growth of smartphones as well as the phenomenal adoption rates across nearly every market segment – we have identified a number of growth opportunities within highly targeted business and consumer verticals. Further this market has realized little or no downturn from the current economic situation. On the contrary, sales of both hardware and software are up, and businesses are searching for mobile solutions to enhance their products and services, as well as reduce workforce and delivery costs.” Doug Johnson, head of technology for the firm stated, “The world has seen a major sea change in how people employ technology. The mobile phone is not a cell phone but a mobile computer that happens to include the ability to make a phone call. Consumers and businesses alike are employing these devices in nearly every environment for communication, utility, business, social, and entertainment tasks that in the past were relegated to their computers.” Three Point Ventures will be headquartered in Chattanooga and will work with entrepreneurs across the country and around the world. Ferger explained, “We cannot think of a better business and technology climate than our home town.” Doug continued, “We all have worked all over the world and throughout the U.S. and when it comes to great talent and an unsurpassed quality of life – there is no place like Chattanooga.” … For more information contact Jeffery Cole at 423.903.6723 and/or visit Three Point Ventures at www.threepointventures.com.

For years, scholars of the ancient world have wondered what became of the lost nomadic tribe officially referred to as Expleticus Deletedicus.

Then, during a dig in 1922, it was discovered that: “They had rocked all the ancient empires of Earth on down to the grizound. They rocked Atlantis so hard, y’all, it ain’t never been found.”

More undead than Dick Clark, and cursed with the funk of five thousand years.

CNN Heroes will host a celebratory rally complete with performances by the McCallie Upper School’s marching band and cheerleaders and more than 500 hundred attendees, including 400 students from McCallie Upper School and 100 students from the St Nicholas school, waving their pom poms and pennants to show support for Chattanooga resident Jordan Thomas. The rally is set for Friday, Nov. 6 at 11:30 pm at The Hunter Museum of Art at 10 Bluff View, Chattanooga, TN 37403. Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield and Hamilton Mayor Claude Ramsey will also be on-hand to deliver a proclamation. Thomas was chosen from over 9,000 submissions from 100 countries as one of the Top 10 CNN HEROES, which spotlights everyday citizens accomplishing extraordinary deeds, for his work with the Jordan Thomas Foundation, which has raised more than $400,000 to provide prosthetics for children in need. Thomas will be awarded $25,000 – and is eligible for the $100,000 award that will be bestowed upon the CNN HERO OF THE YEAR later this month at a star-studded gala in Hollywood. The public will select the CNN HERO OF THE YEAR via voting at the CNN Heroes site at www.cnn.com/heroes through Wednesday, Nov. 18. Hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper and taped at the famed Kodak Theatre, CNN HEROES: AN ALL-STAR TRIBUTE will air on Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9 pm ET/PT.
An annual family boating trip to the Florida Keys took a bloody and life-changing turn for Jordan Thomas, who was 16 during the trip. When he jumped into the water, the boat’s wake dragged Thomas hard into sharp, whirling propellers. His father and mother, both doctors, jumped into action. Thomas was rushed to a hospital, where he spent the next two weeks undergoing several surgeries on what was left of his legs and, along the way, discovering what would become his life’s work. Thomas was fit with a top-of-the-line prosthetic and with a financially stable family, he knew he would always be able to afford good legs, but he learned this was not the case for other amputees, especially since most insurance companies will not cover the full cost of prosthetics. So, the teenager launched the Jordan Thomas Foundation which has raised more than $400,000 through bracelets, charity gold tournaments and cookouts.

WHO: More than 500 attendees including: Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield; Hamilton Mayor Claude Ramsey; 400+ students from Jordan’s elementary and high school; Jordan’s family and friends.

WHAT: Join to honor and celebrate Thomas for being chosen from over 9,000 submissions from 100 countries as one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 6 at 11:30am

WHERE: Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, Chattanooga, TN 37403

The new Chattanooga store is good for you, well beyond the fruits and vegetables. Earth Fare builds and runs its stores with environmental sustainability in mind. Some of the green design features include a hot water energy system that utilizes recycled energy, high efficiency lights, low VOC paints, concrete floors for low environmental impact and a “Green Path” program that shoppers can follow to minimize their carbon footprint. Jack Murphy, chief executive officer of Earth Fare, is excited about this new store. He says, “This store is in a great location, convenient for families, students and professionals.” He adds, “Becoming a strong member of the community is important to Earth Fare.”

One way Earth Fare will be reaching out to the community is through Itty Bitty Bites Program. The Itty Bitty Bites Program was created in order to eliminate childhood obesity. Through education, outreach and fun, Earth Fare is determined to change kids’ attitudes on healthy eating and show families that eating well can be fun, easy and affordable.

Earth Fare makes healthy eating convenient, delicious and affordable. With ready-to-go meal options including a grill, a hot bar and a prepared food case, there are selections for every diet and budget. The store also offers local and organic farm fresh fruits and vegetables, a full service meat, poultry and seafood department that is antibiotic and hormone free, a cheese department, an on-site bakery and a vitamin and body care department. Earth Fare has a food philosophy that prohibits items with high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) and sweeteners – all of which have been linked to health issues like childhood obesity. In addition to the above, Earth Fare has banned all items containing antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, preservatives and bleached or bromated flour.

There’s a new golf academy in East Brainerd. It is the Zeb Patten Golf Academy where the goal is to ‘really teach people how to play golf.’ The Zeb Patten Golf Academy is like no other school, clinic, or camp you have ever seen or attended.

When Zeb Patten decided he wanted to do a golf academy, he looked at over 100 different programs and realized that none of them were equipping people with ALL the tools they needed to go out and actually play golf. Most schools or clinics last any where from a few days to a couple of weeks and are conducted once a year. So if someone really wants to learn, the only option until now has been private lessons, which are great, but expensive. And 99% of these lessons, schools and clinics are contingent on the weather. So our golf academy is weather-proof and year-round!

We have made our academy fun and affordable so any age and any skill level can join. Call 423-855-4653 or visit www.zgolf.org for more information.
