I still think about goals and read articles on better ways of doing things. Today, for example, my good friend Dave Burchell opened my eyes to http://the99percent.com/, which has nothing to do with that other 99% thing (http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/) which has a fascination of all it's own. No, I am referring to the folks like Tim Ferriss, or Dale Carnegie, or Mark Sisson.

It got me thinking, and getting motivated. Motivated to think about my new set of lists, goals and desires. A lot has changed since 2007, and so has priorities.

My priorities went from being able to attend Twins baseball games, go on dates with confidence, take nice trips, go to parties, fit into clothes handed down from friends, and ultimately, train for a 5k run.

Today my priorities rotate around being with my wife, taking care of my new child, being valuable at my work, playing music, caring for my home, and staying up to date on information that may help me in my life and career.

Since 2007, I have had 3 job changes, 1 career change, met and married my wife who carried and delivered the cutest baby ever created, took part in completely remodeling a house, learned new instruments, visited the hospital too many times, and didn't travel enough.

Of course, one of the items on this goal list was "healthy living" which I now have no excuse to do. Today, I took a momentous step to retrace my path in the workout part of my goals. It was a positive step. It makes me want to work on my goals, and be pro-active.

As I have mentioned before, music is one of the motivators for me to workout. I still believe that my mp3 player has some mystical power and can sense exactly what I need to hear. So when I stepped onto the walking track at the YMCA, I turned on my trusty iPod flash, the following song was the first to get me motivated to move on my way.

You know i know how
To make em stop and stare as i zone out
The club can’t even handle me right now
Watchin you watchin me I go all out

In my mind, "the club" could have been the YMCA, and that this club doesn't even know what I have in store.

So this may be the start of a new relationship. New goals, new plans, new experiences.

more later,
It worked in many ways, I lost a lot of weight, I got inspired by others and was able to spout out my feelings, lessons learned, and questions to a group of friends, fans, and cheerleaders.

Now, years have passed. A lot has happened since then. I met a wonderful woman who inspires me and married her. I have had many changes in jobs and my goals have shifted several times. I have traveled, seen many things and met many people. I still strive to be healthy, and sometimes succeed, sometimes fail.

One of the reasons I haven't written in a while is that I have been using other technology - Facebook, Twitter and email to communicate. I still believe in and strive in the "Renaissance Man" lifestyle, and I think that blogging was a great way to communicate about it.

So, I may begin to write again. I might write about my adventures in my life as a human being, and take on other Renaissance things - such as cooking, designing, writing, networking, building, taking orders, giving orders, cooperating, solving old problems, analyze new problems, setting and achieving meaningful and reasonable goals, improving productivity, getting organized and successfully implementing good habits.

I was wondering where to start. I haven't decided yet, but I could list the things that are on my mind right now:

1) finishing the last minute touches on a house remodel
2) finishing a basement (subfloor, networking, lighting, electricity)
3) yard and garden work (in the winter consists of "space management" = the art of clearing snow and ice so that you have space to live in)
4) technology projects (currently obsessed with hacking the AppleTV to get TV and Movies without having to pay for expensive cable)
5) ideas about productivity at work
6) other learning that I like to do (recently attended a talk about the Dead Sea Scrolls - fascinating from a historical perspective)

So when I have the energy, I may start to write. I hope to be interesting, if not, I will settle for entertaining.

more later.
Chazz
<!--
