Dolce Vita for Target

By now, I'm sure you all know that Dolce Vita has designed a small shoe collection for Target. I haven't heard any talks or seen anything about the collaboration coming to the store, so I was a bit suprised to hear the news from a few of my Twitter followers. It's available for purchase right now online, and will be available in stores nationwide on August 22, although some people have already spotted a few styles in their local stores. Prices range from $29.99 to $34.99. Me, personally, I think I'm going to pass on this collection. The designs aren't really my style, but that's just my opinion.

Christian Siriano partners with O-Cel-O

Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano is designing something more than just shoes and clothing. He's partnered with O-Cel-O, maker of innovative household cleaning products, to design a set of sponges. Yes, the common, everyday cleaning sponge is going to get a glamorous makeover! If the designs are as pretty as the ones pictured above, I think I would rather use them for decoration rather than use them for cleaning (lol). The Christian Siriano for O-Cel-O sponges will be available in stores beginning spring of 2011.

To kick off the partnership, O-Cel-O is inviting you to enter the “Clean with Style” sweepstakes for a chance to win a New York Fashion Week getaway and a backstage pass to meet the fierce designer!

Tira's Vacation Shopping: The Finale

Overall, I had a great vacation. I was NOT ready to go back to work. I took a trip back home to Cleveland, hung out with my sisters, and some of my good friends. I went to my college roommate's wedding and performed a poem. Of course, I got some shopping done in between. Not too much, but I did score some nice finds. Check it out:

I love shirts with animals on them, so this cheetah top from Target was a no-brainer:

Sidenote: I can't prove it, but I'm almost convinced that Target has changed their sizing. I used to have to wear an XL in their tops, on account of my boobage, but now the L is ok. Maybe I've lost a little weight, but I've mentioned this to a couple of my friends, and they've noticed too.

I noticed a necklace my mother had on her dresser. Begged her for it, and she refused because it was a gift. I went back to Dots to return a blazer, and spied the necklace. She has so many colors, and so many possibilities. Only $8

My favorite find came from Conway's. I used to ALWAYS spy the bright pink bags whenever I came to visit NY, but I never went in until they opened one in Cleveland Heights, OH. I went with my sister and spotted this jacket:

I can't wait for the slightest chill to wear this baby. And only $13. I was going to spend $35 for something similar in J.C. Penney

Last, but not least, I bought this cute maxi dress from Dots to wear to the wedding rehearsal:

I usually shy away from maxi dresses since I'm pretty short (5'4)...but this one is perfect with heels.

Cheapalicious beauty: Wet n' Wild's "The Gold & the Beautiful" and 9021Orange

While I was out and about doing my weekly Walgreens shopping, I spotted a new Wet n Wild cosmetics display. On the display were limited edition baked eyeshadows, lip glosses, and new Craze nail polish colors. You know my eyes zeroed in on the polishes, and I grabbed a couple of the colors. I purchased "The Gold & the Beautiful"- a deep gold color, and "9021Orange", which I describe as more of a coral-y orange.

I decided to wear "The Gold & the Beautiful" first because I haven't worn a metallic nail color in a while. I've been wearing it since Thursday layered with Sinful Colors' "All About You" (gold glitter), and Seche Vite dry fast topcoat, and so far my manicure is holding up really well. Love it!

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that while out thrifting at one of my favorite stores, The Family Thrift Center, I stumbled upon a pair of Paper Denim & Cloth jeans (in good condition, yay!) for a mere $3.99. Since the 50% off colors of the day were red, green, and white (the tag was green), I only paid $2 for them!

Now for the bad news.... they are a size 27. Obviously not my size, but I bought them for the sole purpose of reselling them anyway. I would've love to have kept these for myself if they were my size. My loss. Hopefully, I can get something for them. Click here for my Ebay listing on these.

I saw this purse at the Aldo Accessories in my regular mall in New Jersey. I totally fell in love with it. The beads and the other details had me drooling. It was regular $50, marked down to $39.99, with an additional 30% off. I fell in love with it, but that little voice inside told me to hold on, so I gave it one last look and left the store. Fast forward to my vacation back home to Cleveland. I peeked inside another Aldo store, and my purse was around $24 with an additional 30% off. I ended up getting it for $18. Gotta love it!

Cheapalicious beauty: Trying to take control of my edges

In this hot and humid Florida weather, trying to keep the hair tamed and frizz free is sometimes a difficult task. While reading one of my favorite blogs, Stained Couture, I stumbled upon a post that Samida did on different hair products that she uses to keep her edges smooth during this time of the year. One particular product that stood out was Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Edge Control. Me being a fan of some of ORS's products, I decided to give this one a try. I've searched high and low at my local beauty supply stores and drugstores and noone carried it. I settled on buying it off Ebay.

I love that this gel/pomade is alcohol free, and doesn't have a greasy feel to it. It also has a very pleasant smell. What I didn't like about it is that I felt that it didn't really serve its purpose. It slicked my edges down for all of one minute, and then they curled back up again- and this was before I stepped outside into the humid weather. Maybe it doesn't work too well on my post relaxer edges (I'm 3 months post). I even used the scarf method to make my edges stay down with the Edge Control, and it still didn't work. When I get a fresh relaxer, I'll use this and see what it does then, but right now, I'll just stick to slicking my edges down with my beloved IC Fantasia styling gel.

Tina Knowles to launch clothing line for Walmart

The designer behind many of Destiny's Child's outfits and also Beyonce and Solange's mom, Tina Knowles is debuting her collection- simply called "Miss Tina" to a Wally World near you this fall.

In explaining the concept of the collection:

“The line caters to a consumer whose beauty is represented in a variety of shapes and sizes ranging from 4-20. The collection is also affordable, all items of the collection are designed to compliment one another, saving women time and money while simplifying the decision making process while shopping."

Her inspiration for creating the collection:

“As a woman with a very busy lifestyle, I know from personal experience how challenging it can be to find clothes that fit comfortably and that are flattering,” Tina, a former Houston hair stylist, explains. “I had become frustrated in searching for fashionable well-fitting yet age appropriate clothing that was affordable, well-made and addressed the problem areas so many of us women struggle with. Having created and launched two successful fashion brands, House of Deréon and Deréon, I felt there was still a void in the marketplace and wanted to find a solution to this situation.”

Weekend finds: $5 Miley Cyrus finds @ Walmart

While on my grocery shopping trip to Wally World last weekend, I noticed that a lot of the Miley Cyrus/Max Azria apparel had been marked down to $3 and $5. When the collection was first introduced to Walmart last year, I'd wrote it off as being strictly for the teeny boppers. However, I did end up buying a a couple of pieces, like a pair of gray skinny jeans that I absolutely adore (they fit like a glove) and let's not forget that ruffle top that I ended up returning. I spotted some cute items on those sale racks and this is what I ended up buying.

denim boyfriend shirt and dark rinse skinny jeans. I think the jeans were marked down by accident. There was a whole rack of the same jeans that weren't marked down, and these actually rung up at the regular price. I told that cashier that it was their error and they had to honor it, and she was really cool about it. Any other time, the cashier would've probably cussed me out.

romper and skirt. I'm on the fence about the romper. I made the mistake of buying it without trying it on and when I tried it on, I didn't like how it looks on me. I may end up giving it to my cousin.
