DIY Oil Rubbed Bronze Doorknobs

For the longest time my dream was to cast off those horrid brass doorknobs throughout our house, but I couldn’t stomach shelling out $200 or more to do it. I waited patiently and found a slew of them on clearance at Tuesday Morning and snatched them up when they had an extra 50% off clearance sale. Unfortunately half of them were broken or missing parts and I had to make several return trips to the store to try to salvage what we had (they put the broken ones right back on the shelf, by the way! Unbelievable!). I also had to order several knobs online that are not exactly the same as the ones I bought in the store (but all are the oil rubbed bronze look).

If I had only known about oil rubbed bronze spray paint! My loss, your gain … Enjoy …

I love the retro/modern look of sunburst mirrors, but unless they’re small, they’re almost always too expensive for my budget. This is a great way to get the look for a fraction of the cost – using paint stirrers!

Handmade Wedding

There are several things to love about this farm wedding in Georgia featured recently on Style Me Pretty.

1. The bride and groom made everything by hand. And I mean almost everything.
2. It’s on a farm. It’s simple, rustic, beautiful and intimate.
3. The guest tree. Guests could leave a thumbprint and their name. What a beautiful piece of art for their home.
4. A mixture of textures. From the burlap and satin ribbons, to the non-matching bridesmaids, this wedding had surprises in the details.
