Katherine Siyi Chen was born on May 27, 2008. She was 7 lbs 10 oz at birth. She's been healthy and so far seems to be happy and generally mellow. Many more photos can be found at flickr.
Linna is doing well. She's also healthy and recovering quickly from c-section.
Cameron is doing okay. He's very gentle with the baby. But he's been acting out a bit. I think he's realized that he's not getting as much attention as before and as a result he throws more tantrums knowing that doing so will get him that attention.
This blog is going to change a bit. When Cameron was first born and Jeff first set up this site, the intent was for it to be a blog for and about "Cheechoo". Linna, myself and others would post to the blog until Cameron decided to take over for himself. But over time, it became clear that I was the only one who posted and blogging regularly turns out to be a hard thing to do and so cheechoo.net has languished. But with the birth of Kate, I've decided to re-purpose things a little. cheechoo.net will be about my entire family. It will be a place where I can document the lives of Kate, Cameron Linna, and myself starting from the time Cameron was born and until... Cameron or Kate decide to take over. Going back through the archives is a nice way to see how Cameron has grown. I'm hoping that from now, it will also be a place to see Kate grow as well.
It's a little unfair to Kate. Cameron gets a website exclusively his for 3 1/2 years and when she's born, she doesn't get her own. But, I've learned that it's really hard to maintain one site and probably impossible to maintain two. And it's really hard to get traffic to a site, even among family and friends. And honestly, the thing that seals the deal for me? I'd rather spend time with Kate than maintaining a blog.
My apologies for not posting in so long, but I'm in the middle of a job transition and I simply haven't had the energy. I'm hoping that after the turn of the year, I'll feel refreshed enough to post on a more regular basis. In the meantime, I wish anyone who stumbles by very happy holidays!
