Last Minute Pokemon Cosplay + AN12 update!

Hi guys! Another quick cosplay progress post.

As it turns out, I won't be able to finish my Rorona cosplay for Anime North this year. I had all of the materials to finish it, but Ringo wasn't able to finish her Totori cosplay since our schedules conflicted and we didn't have time to meet up and work on our outfits. Instead, we're just putting it off until Otakon 2012 which takes place at the end of July! That way we'll have more time to plan and meet up to finish our costumes.

As a very last minute back up cosplay, we have chosen to cosplay Pokemon trainers!

I'll be cosplaying Hilda/Touko, the female trainer from Pokemon Black & White [left]. I'm really excited because she's got a cute but casual outfit! It'll be very easy to wear since the clothing is very comfortable and suitable for end of May weather! We'll even have hats to shield us from the sun, and our costumes won't melt off ! Hehehe~

I've filmed and photographed my progress, so I'll be making a full how-to video and blog post! Illustrating everything from painting the boots to sewing the vest, and of course making pokeballs! I'll be posting that soon. Just need to finish up little details like making the XTransceiver, bag, and the pocket things on her shorts.

Ringo will be accompanying me as the female trainer from Pokemon LeafGreen & FireRed. I've made her hat, the clip thing on her bag (I forget what it's called), and pokeballs. Just need to modify the shirt, make the bag and skirt! It's quite an easy outfit so I should be able to finish it.

I'll be meeting up with her this Monday (Victoria Day, so neither of us are working) so I can use her sewing machine. Mine broke down this week! Broken sewing machine a week before the convention = apocalypse!

But we'll be able to finish all of this on time.

Here's my cosplay lineup for Anime North 2012.

Yup, doing Black Gold Saw again this year! Also a last minute addition because of all of our cosplay plans falling apart. We're planning to do a maid outfit variant because regular BGS was super hard to wear last year - it was uncomfortable with the long wig + armor breaking + feet dying in heels + heavy weapon. Our hotel this year is further than the one we were at last year so we decided it was too troublesome. Maid variant will still be cute! Just replace her outfit with a maid dress + stockings + regular shoes, but still horns and sword! Haha and dark red bows. Same with BRS, but with blue bows and the canon! I'm looking forward to it.

Pokemon on Friday since it'll be easy to wear for meeting up with people, as well as for filming vlogs and stuff. Probably changing into Pokemon again before we leave the hotel on Sunday because it'll be easy to move around in and won't restrict us as we drag our luggage down the street a few blocks to the DoubleTree. Maybe even Saturday evening when we change out of BRS!

I'll post a vlog on my channel some time this weekend explaining the final details of our cosplays, meet-up locations, etc. I look forward to meeting all of you! If I'm not able to post a progress post this or next week, I'll post it after the convention before the con reports.

I'm trying to film a few circle lens reviews and finish the posts for them, they should be up over the course of the next week. It's going to be a busy week!

[REVIEW] GEO Cafe Mimi lenses in Waffle Gray

Hello again!

I recently received these lenses from Mukuchu. I'll be reviewing these lenses today!

As you can probably see in my previous reviews, I'm crazy about grey lenses! I love the way they look on my eyes. I've reviewed sparkly grey lenses, striking greys (Sesame Grey), but I'll be reviewing a different type.

The Cafe Mimi lenses in Waffle Grey are a blue-gray lens that fades out to brown. So far I'm in love with all of the lenses from the Cafe Mimi series! I think the Latte brown lenses are still my favourite though.

Lenses came in their own little box, which was quite cute. Inside the box, there was a slide out tab which contained the lens vials.

In the side compartment, there was a lens case!

They look quite light and transparent in their vials when held up against the sunlight, but the color is quite opaque when worn on the eyes.

Sorry, the picture didn't focus probably. But you get the gist of the colors on my eyes.

Black outer ring, fades into a dark blue grey, a light blue grey, and a yellow brown. The part that opens up for your pupil has a jagged black outline. I love this design!

With a ringlight/flash, the color is quite strong and opaque. In natural light, the lenses look dark blue-grey. It's a fairly natural color.

These lenses are so striking! :D

I'm also wearing Jewerich eyelashes in 01. The flared design really adds to the effect!

I think these lenses could work really well for cosplay. I'm actually debating whether or not I should wear these for my Rorona cosplay since they can pass off as being quite blue. I also like how they work with my wig (which is the one I'll be wearing for my cosplay.)

These lenses were very comfortable. I didn't feel any irritation at all.

Cosplaying Rorona #1 : Making the Purse

Hello my lovelies! Long time no talk!

I'm back today with a cosplay post! Anime North 2012 is less than one month away, and I've been getting work done on my Rorona cosplay. For those of you who didn't know/don't follow my facebook or twitter, I'm cosplaying Rorona from the RPG game for PlayStation 3 - Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland 2.

I was drawn to this design because she's so cute! Her outfit is very comfortable and she has a small but intricate prop. After I cosplayed Black Gold Saw last year, I wanted to wear something less painful with a prop that wasn't so huge. I have a feeling this will be my favourite cosplay so far! Compared to the other cosplays that I have made myself (Meiko and Mio), this is my favourite costume design.

Unfortunately, it looks like Ringo won't be able to join me as Totori for Anime North. Genie won't be able to do Meruru either since she's going to China and getting back on the Wedsnesday before AN so she won't have time to work on it. If Ringo decides to go to Otakon, we'll have out full group ready for then!

Ringo and I are currently working on a backup cosplay for Anime North because we always cosplay together. I'll still bring Rorona for a day though for a test run.

Annnyway, as you can see in the picture above, Rorona doesn't have a bag.

Totori does though (reference design above) , so I decided to design a bag for Rorona that looked in character, Atelier style. This way, I'd be able to carry around my stuff in a small pouch without having to carry around a huge bag that didn't go together with the costume.

Went to Fabricland and found discounted leathery material, perfect for the bag!

First, I made a pattern out of newspaper, testing out possible dimensions. I made the dimensions of the bag a small-medium size. I left extra space around the actual size to sew the pieces together. Then I transfered the pattern into the pleathery material and cut the pieces out.

Here are all of the pieces laid out.

Since I bought too much pink sable suede for her cape, I decided to use the extra material to line the inside of the bag. I labelled the pieces on the 'wrong' side of the fabric (the side that wasn't soft.)

The pink isn't that bright either, it's more of a muted raspberry colour.

Then, I sewed pockets made from white drapery material (also extra material from the pattern that I was going to use on the white part of her cape.) I sewed the pink onto the other side of the pleathery material.

I attached the pieces side by side. This way, I'd only have to attach the bottom and then sew up the sides. (lol you can see all of my loose threads, oooops.) The pocket on the far left is for my iPhone, and the one next to it (which is the front of the bag) is for small things like cards or makeup, change etc.

When I sewed it all together, it looks like this! (The left side of the bag in the picture looks a bit wonky, but it's because I didn't straighten out the bag properly.) I folded in the top, still going to fix that.

Next, I cut out the patterns for the flap. I sewed them together like what I did with the other pieces.

The flap itself looked really boring so I decided to add some beaded designs! Totori's bag has a sun and moon design, so I decided to use a floral inspired design. Beading took forever, orz.

Taadaa! For my first time doing pattern beading, I'm quite pleased with the design! I think it suits the Atelier designs quite well.

What the inside of the bag looks like. It's still a bit messy, I have to clip all of the loose threads and sew on the other side of the strap.

Despite not being an official part of her costume, I'm glad I have a bag now! I've tried filling it. It holds my phone, camcorder, a bottle of water, my wallet, and some cosmetics.

Bath powder, LUSH, Face Mask Reviews! :D

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the gap between posts. I've been a very busy girl lately! (Usually a lazy bum lol).
I've just finished classes and exams, packed and moved out of residence! It feels weird living at home again. I'll miss my little residence room, it was so convenient and close to my classes. But the place my friends and I have rented for next year isn't too far, only a few minutes walk from campus.

Oh, another life update! I got a job today! It's at a dress store that sells gowns and prom dresses etc. It's very cute. I'll be working there over the summer. But this finally means that I'll have a stream of income for conventions (I'll be able to afford Otakon hooray!) and cosplay stuff. And also saving up for my exchange to England in September 2013!

Anyway, onto the promised reviews. I took the pictures for this bath powder a few days ago.

Decided to try out this bath powder that was included as a bonus gift with my Cure Exfoliating Gel order! I wasn't really expecting much because I've never seen this before. I'm not sure of the brand, but it's supposed to be a moisture bath powder.

The powder is a bright orange. It smells like citrus. Not actual oranges, but like... orange candy scent? A very sweet smell.

Into the bath~!~!~!

There wasn't really a reaction to the water, it just kind of settled at the bottom. It didn't crackle or pop like the Bison bath salts. No as exciting, hahaha!

"Oooh what are you putting in there?"

"But why would you want to bathe in that? o^o "

As for the actual bath, it did have a thickening effect, but not much. It smelled like oranges for a while, but then the scent fainted. Didn't feel very moisturising either? Overall it didn't seem that great, just turned my water yellow and made the air smell like citrus.

Also, as a little celebration thing to congratulate myself on getting the job at the dress store, I bought this face mask to use during my bath. Totally treating myself haha! I've used this a few times and really like it, it makes my face feel really clean, despite being a clay mask. Check it out on the website! It sells for $1.89 at Walmart

It applies smoothly and isn't sticky. I feel like it actually does temporarily help with blemishes and redness. It dries hard and crackly but doesn't flake off. Make sure to thoroughly wash it off!

SO REFRESHINGUUUuuuuuuu! The mask smells faintly like aloe and cucumber. Shooped cucumbers over my eyes because I couldn't find any in my house haha

I also bought this bath bomb from LUSH! It's called "Pheonix Rising." It's a purple bath bomb with some gold flecks/sheen on the outside, and it smells like apple cider! Such a wonderful scent! It was such a lovely bath bomb, definitely recommend it. It was $6.95. Check it out on the website!

The bath bomb is a little pricy in my opinion but I bought it for a special occasion. I've been meaning to try some of LUSH's other products out since I've only really used their shine shampoo bar. Definitely want to try out some of the other ones in the future!
Also, as you can see in the above picture, the gold is only on the top of the bath bomb.

Atomic bath bomb! It turns the water a medium purple.

Mine even had a stick of cinnamon in it! Talk about 'natural' products haha!

Surprise blue-green centre! I wasn't expecting this at all, what a nice surprise!

All in all, I've had very pleasant experiences with Lush products! I love giving their gift sets to people as presents because all of the products are so nice! I hear so many awesome things about their other products from beauty gurus and blogs, so I recommend them if you are willing to try out some new bath products!

11 Facts about myself

I feel unhappy unless I have some type of sugar in my system haha~ I've got such a sweet tooth!
I am obsessed with cats. Basically most people have come to the conclusion that I'm just going to be a crazy cat lady. WHO NEEDS A BOYFRIEND WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A CAT INSTEAD.
Opposed to my photos and videos, I hardly wear much makeup irl. Usually just BB cream and powder, occasionally black liner or mascara on my bottom lashes.
I have emotion-taste (or emotion-taste-smell) synesthesia. I didn't know this was an actual condition until I saw a poster advertising a phD student's psychological study on it... it listed 'symptoms' that I could relate to so I went in and did the tests over the period of the school semester and it turns out I have it!

Synesthesia is "is a neurological condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway" (read more on wikipedia). So basically when I feel a certain emotion, I involuntarily feel a taste or the taste of a smell, if that makes sense. I thought this was normal lol.... If you guys are curious, I'll write a post/do a video on it. :P

K-On is my all time favourite anime/anime franchise! So moe~~
I am obsessed with the Professor Layton and Trauma Centre games! I love them so much.
At university, I generally seem like a very antisocial person lol. I'm a very social person outside of school though!
I talk to myself when I'm in my room or walking by myself, usually practising things I want to say in a vlog or like re-enacting a scene in my head. I look like a crazy person lol
I feel like I am a very direct person. I hate it when people are shady or can't make a set decision. Usually my super dominant mode kicks in and I have to make a decision.
My hair is really long now - I haven't cut it in 2 years because of the stupid asian hairdresser. I asked for a trim + no layers, so she cut 3 inches of my hair off and gave me layers wtf.

Went out and bought myself some cute clothes! I actually bought these a month ago but forgot to blog about these until I was clearing pictures out of a folder.

Found this cute clothing store called 'Katie' in a nearby outlet mall! Stuff is so cute, oh god! I'm waiting for them to get new stock so I can go find nicer summery clothes! I need to replace my 'lazy wardrobe' (black t-shirts etc) with cute clothes to force myself look nicer!

THIS. THIS TOP IS MY FAVOURITE. I think it's actually supposed to be like, a dressy top on small asian girls but I'm too tall haha. I really like the lace/collar trend that is/was happening... It's so cute! I love it to pieces.

Green floral print dress. I like this since I don't really have any greens in my wardrobe. It goes to mid-thigh on me. (Sometimes it sucks having such long legs/torso, cute clothes are always too short on me.)

Yellow half-sleeves jacket. It flares out at the side. I usually wear this belted!

So yeah, that's it for gets at the moment. Trying to save up for Anime North cosplay materials! I'll be vlogging about this in the future, so please stay tuned! I'll be posting more frequently to my youtube account. And speaking of youtube, I made an eye makeup tutorial! I had quite a few people message me about how I do my eyemake up which is surprising because I don't think I do it particularly well haha. I'll try to improve though!

Hey guys, I'm baaacckkkk~ ヽ(´▽｀)/

Sorry about the absence - the past week was the final tidal wave of projects. It was brutal, I hardly slept. I had a history essay, philosophy essay, French dissertation, French test and multimedia portfolio due. ;_; So much stress! I'm glad it's over.

This is just going to be a filler blog post for now... I've found a new makeup style that I really like, modified version of my past routine but it makes my eyes bigger! (I've learned to extend the wing lower, or else I have really Asian shaped eyes.) Also tried a bit more with nose contouring which I'm still trying to get right... I think it was a bit too dark in these photos though lol.

I filmed part of the tutorial today but then both of my memory cards ran out of memory, and then I couldn't find the cord to download the clips... So I just deleted them and took a bunch of pictures. Naturally I found the cord after lol, so I'll finish filming it tomorrow! (っ´ω`c)

[GUIDE] Packing For Anime Conventions

Hey guys! ( *´艸｀)

Now that it's almost prime convention season, I figured that I'd start doing more cosplay centred posts! I get a few emails now and then from people who are just starting to go to anime conventions and have a few questions. One of the questions I recently received was from a first time con-goer who was wondering what she should pack. (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ Now, I'm no con expert, but I've been going to anime conventions for almost 5 years now! I stumbled across this packing list and thought it was helpful!

Here's the full size version. Make sure you save a copy of this on your computer. Keep in mind that this guide is only an outline. Make sure to make your own list that is customized to your cosplays.

Packing for a convention is very important, especially for a cosplayer.(ง •̀_•́)ง I'll be doing a little run-down of each of the sections, as well as adding some suggestions of my own!

Basics:

This list gives a nice rundown of the things you should bring while travelling to a convention, assuming the convention is a fairly long drive / flight. You can disregard the travel pillow, motion sickness, sleeping mask things if the convention is close (unless you like those things haha).

Make sure you bring all travel documents, ID/identification forms, (if you pre-registered) convention pre-reg ticket, hotel information, and a map of the local area (google maps is your friend!) if you're unfamiliar with the place.

★★ALSO, you should add these to your list!★★

→ Cell phone + cell phone charger: Make sure you have your phone on you. Chances are you'll be separated from your friends at some point during the convention. It'll be easier to regroup if you can test/call. Also remember your charger! You don't want a dead cell phone for the con weekend!

→ Camera + charger: If you're going to a convention, be sure to take some pictures! Make and record some memories with friends!

→ Plastic bags: Great for storing clothes, shoes, garbage, etc.

Cosplay:

This section of the list is great - it outlines some of the main stuff you need. I highly recommend that you make a separate check list specifically for your cosplay outlining each part that you need. The last thing you want is to get to the hotel and realize that you're missing a key part of your cosplay. I also recommend that you put your props (if you have any) in your car the night before the convention.

→ If you're bussing, make sure to cover your props in plastic (with plastic bags/whatever) so that if it somehow gets damaged on the way there, all the broken pieces will still be together.

The repair section of this checklist is also key. You don't exactly need to take a whole sewing machine with you - that's waaay to heavy. ★ Make sure you at least have a hot glue gun + glue sticks, a mini sewing kit, and bobby pins. ★ Hotels will usually have soap which can double as face wash / makeup remover (try to bring your own tho) , and an ironing board/iron.

★ I highly stress having Band-Aids + pain ointment: ★ If your cosplay happens to have heels, stiff boots, or the like, you'll definitely want to keeps one of these on you. It's good to put a few on the back of your heels before setting out to the convention. You'll probably be walking a lot, so make sure you have some handy! Ringo and I know all too well about foot blisters.

On the day before the convention, go through your checklist again and make sure you have everything. Sit down and think if there's anything else that you need.

Clothes:

★ Make sure you keep a change of regular clothes and sleeping clothes with you. ★ I was an idiot last year and forgot to bring regular clothes to Anime North last year (LOL)! Luckily I brought ~fresh~ pjs, undies, etc. The only situation where I could get away with that! I wore my casual Mio Listen! cosplay instead since it's like a tshirt-dress. Some people get so caught up in packing their cosplays, they forget about dressing like a regular person! So definitely remember pack a t-shirt and pants!

Bring something comfortable to wear! When you change out of your cosplay, you want something that will be easy to move in. If you don't want to wear 'normal clothes' after you've changed out of your main cosplay, bring a casual cosplay with you!

Hygeine:

Remember to bring your makeupz so you can look ~*~kAwAiI!!!~*~ (・ω< )☆ Seriously, if you're a cosplayer, makeup is super important! I recommend ★making a list of all the makeup/tools you need to bring! ★It's really easy to forget makeup. Sure, you can borrow from a friend, but don't share uncleaned eyeliner, contacts, or lip products! It leads to the spread of germs, and you don't want to risk the possibility of an infection at the convention. What I recommend is to go through your makeup bag one tool/product at a time and ask yourself, do I need this for cosplay? If yes, put it in a travel makeup bag and check it on your list.

Remember that this list is like.....the complete list for the super-prepared con-goer. Reality is that not many of us are like that lol. At the end of the day, you want to have everything that you need, and nothing extra that you won't end up using/have to lug around on the last day of the con. Cross out the things that you know you actually won't need.

Toronto Comicon!

Quick con report of Toronto Comicon, previously known as March Toronto Anime Convention.
My cosplay group and I weren't planning on attending another small Hobbystar event after the disaster that was DTAC.

Ringo had work, and Genie didn't want to go... Which only really left Sami and I. We weren't really interested in going, but then Justin got tickets for us!

On the downside, I pulled my back while practising the dance cover for SO COOL by SISTAR. It's actually quite embarassing... I was dancing on the carpet, spun, foot got caught, and fell over. The stupid part was that I didn't even sprain an ankle, but one of the discs in my back slipped a bit. Meaning whenever I went into certain positions, I felt a shooting pain go up my spine. Same thine happened to me at Fan Expo. Maybe that's a sign that I should stop going to Hobbystar events.

I wasn't planning on cosplaying to the event either... but then I figured I may as well get some nice shots in my cosplay! I'm in a partnership with miccostumes.com. If you buy a cosplay from their shop, use the code 'sachie' and get -10% off your items! I'll make an official post about it soon.

Changing into cosplay with a slipped disc in your back is quiiiiite painful. Although I pushed through for the sake of cosplay.

Basically, Hobbystar (the company that runs Toronto Comic Conventions) got rid of the anime aspect of the convention and instead made it into a mini Fan Expo comic convention. Downstairs was congested, although it was much better than the Fan Expo convention. Less hassle with security. We didn't stay in the actual convention area for long because we're not particularly interested in comics, so we left after a few hours and just hung out in the lobby area.

We met some really nice people in line, who took this picture of us! Sami is wearing the cat kigurumi that I get her for Christmas, and I'm wearing my Yuki's day class outfit from Vampire Knight Guilty. It was kind of last minute so I couldn't get a proper wig or shoes.

Okay, my camera was LOVING SAMI that day! ALL OF THE PHOTOS I TOOK OF HER WERE SUPER MOE MOE KYUUUUN~ omg. My heart! Stop being so moe Sami ughghghgh~~

Side dishes included tofu, sliced potato, sliced radish, kimchi etc. You also got trays of raw meet to cook yourself.

Kyle showed up later. We forced him to eat the rest of the meat that we couldn't finish. Such a moe eater, haha!

I also heard that Yukapon was in Toronto doing a photoshoot with Pinku Project! Some of my favourite idol/idol group! I really wanted to meet her, but she couldn't make it to the convention. Hopefully she comes back soon so we can actually hang out!

1G3G Show! + Giveaway~

Yesterday, I went with my friend Ariel to see the1g3g panel that was doing a show at my school! 1g5g (aka 1 Girl 5 Gays) is a show on the television channel MTV. It's basically 1 girl (Aliya Jasmine, host and producer of MTV News) and a panel of 5 gay men who live in Toronto. On the show, they talk about their lives and relationships. They answer 20 questions on the show. Although it can be quite explicit at times, it's pretty funny.

Aliya Jasmine was there, with Jonathan Schuester, JP, and Matt Barker!

Aliya Jasmine, before the guys came out. She's so tiny and gorgeous, and she's a lot more intense than she appears on TV! Super entertaining, she's awesome. When she was walking around answering questions, she told me that my gold shoes were awesome! *_* Day = made!

It was hard to take pictures because it was dark and the lighting was weird.

At the end, we went up and got a picture with them! We actually skipped to the front of the line and nobody noticed, haha! I should've dressed up nicer, this was my day class outfit! But super excited that JONATHAN HAS HIS ARM ON MY SHOULDER, he is my favourite I'm kinda glad that Matt Barker wasn't there lol, he seemed really annoying and cocky during the actual show.

I'll be going to Toronto Comicon with Sami this weekend! I'll be cosplaying Yuki from Vampire Knight Guilty, not sure what Sami is doing? Cat Kigurumi I think? Anyway, we'll be there on Saturday. We'll also record a few vlogs and maybe a dance.

Vampire Knight Cosplay + Rent

Got my Vampire Knight cosplay from miccostumes.com, who I am currently in a partnership with! Can't wait to start making more videos / take pictures in this. I'm cosplaying Yuki Cross from the series Vampire Knight. I have longer hair in these pictures because I wanted to mimic her hair from Vampire Knight Guilty.

These are just some speedy iPhone pictures. Hopefully I'll be able to take better pictures soon! It's actually quite funny because I wore my Meiko wig on top with my real hair poking through! The colors are actually quite close, which it blends so well. I don't think bangs would work with my actual hair because I have very defined eyebrows that don't look good under the bangs... I'd have to dye my eyebrows lighter?

Oh, and an update on the rent. Well, it worked out (for now)! We had to make a deal though because S was having financial troubles, so the land lady said she could rent for only 8 months instead of 12 like the rest of us. It's good that we have the place now but it kinda sucks that we have to pay 4 months more rent than her... We're trying to find people to sublease it to over the summer. We're signing the official lease on Monday.

I swear if anybody else drops out or suddenly decides they don't want to rent anymore, I will go into insane version Sachie.

Hopefully everything works out.

Blogging at 1AM because I feel crappy and can't sleep.

I've been sick all week with a very bad cold. It started Tuesday afternoon with the sniffles, but then escalated and just got worse. I had an essay due on Wednesday which I had finished part of, but I was feeling so terrible that I had to defer it. (I got an extension to Monday.)

Didn't go to my classes today except for my philosophy tutorial. Only went to that because I really love it. Then I went back to my room and napped , then got food, and then played Team Fortress for a few hours.

Karumen and I made such a great Heavy/Medic duo but unfortunately she sacrificed herself for me. Or got backstabbed by a spy, I can't remember. But it was a great game. If you have a Steam account, add me! I'm ✿SACHIEPON.

I've been watching InuxBoku SS recently! It's very cute, definitely recommend it for those of you who like girly/romance anime. Very lighthearted. The main character is a tsundere... I have such a weakness for tsunderes hehe. Caught up with those episodes so I decide to start watching La Corda D'Oro. It's one of my favourite manga, I don't know why I waited so late to start watching the anime! It's another really cute series, I recommend it. I want to cosplay Kaho-chaaannn~, the girl with the red hair. Just need to find a violin, haha.

I also did my nails today. Shoppers had this pretty polish on sale for $2.99! I've been looking for a nice light pink polish but wasn't able to find one. Kind of messy, but I'll fix that later.

Finally, rent troubles. I've mentioned on my twitter that I'll be renting a place with a few other friends for next year. Wellllll, stuff happened. Suddenly, S says that she probably can't rent with us because of some financial troubles. Then J, one of my high school friends, says that if S pulls out, she'll also have to pull out. We were supposed to rent this house as a group of 4... Meaning if those two pull out, A and I will have to rent the house for just us two and share with two other strangers. Which would really suck.

We're going to meet with the landlady tomorow to sign the lease. Hopefully nobody else decides to pull any crap on us. I'm really desperate to find a place to stay next year because it's getting late in terms of rentals and most of the good houses are gone, we just got really lucky to find this.

Just ughghghgh people can be so unreliable sometimes.

Visiting Ringo + Cosplay Plans!

Last weekend I visited Ringo. I've never been to her house before, or really to the city she lives in. (We live about an hour and a half bus ride from each other ) Basically, we starting to plan out and gather materials for our Atelier cosplays!

We'll be cosplaying Totori and Rorona from the PS3 game Atelier Totori: Adventurer of Arland

(Totori is on the left, and Rorona is on the right.) The designs are super cute and I think this is going to be the first time in which we make our entire costumes by ourselves. (We don't really have experience in sewing, so we've been buying parts of cosplays.) We're even hoping to enter the Anime North masquerade in the novice division with Karumen, Genie, and mle!

Annnyway got to Ringo's house. Finally gave her the kigurumi that I bought for her birthday/Christmas. Hipster Sachie and Kigurumi Ringo.

Hopefully going to lose some weight after university, face is looking a bit chubby. ( ‾ʖ̫‾)

Went to a Vietnamese restaurant and got some Pho (noodles with soup, meat, and vegetables). Omg. SO DELICIOUS. Aughhh I must have this again when I go visit her. It was so tasty, I'm in love with pho now haha.

Got this drink, it was called 'chocolate bubbles'. Basically like chocolate ice with tapioca bubbles at the bottom. I'm not too crazy about bubble teas... I don't like the texture of the tapioca bubbles too much. It tastes really weird to me. But this was really good, so I think I'll give it a second chance.

Ringo and I tried to film the ending sequence for the anime Kill Me Baby. The dance is really funny lol, but we kinda failed at filming it. I'm trying to edit it now! Here is Ringo trying to do one of the moves.

~Next Day~
I didn't really take pictures... But we ended up going to this huge fabric and crafts warehouse to find materials. It was cosplay heaven. They honestly had every color you'd ever need. Except we couldn't find the right colors for Rorona's cape and Totori's top........ (I guess we're being extra picky because we want to do these outfits accurately for the masquerade.) We did buy tulle for Totori's skirt and bow tails! I bought black broadcloth for Rorona's skirt. I'll update with some more progress after I start working on more of the things.

I can't wait to get started on these cosplays! Super looking forward to the cosplay/convention season. If any of you guys are going to Anime North, leave a comment! Are you cosplaying?

SASA HAUL

My package from SASA.com arrived last week! Super excited for it because 1) It was my first time ordering from SASA and 2) I ordered some really nice things.

Let's take a look at my 'haul'. SASA had a few things on sale, plus the free shipping on orders over $29. Only ordered 4 items though lol. Shipping took about two weeks to arrive at my place.

My first thought was "what a huge box!" Why did I even get a box this big for some liner, mascara, and two bath salts? Such wasteful packaging.

It was also filled to the brim with packing peanuts! Why SASA, whyyyy? The flew out everywhere when I tried opening it.

Can you guess what I bought?

Dolly Wink eyeliner pen in deep black, Kiss Me Heroine Make Mascara in Long&Curl, Bison Bath Salts in 7 Hot Spices and Cooling Mint.

These two products are the ones I was looking to try out the most. First is KOJI's Dolly Wink eyeliner. Dolly Wink is suuuuper hyped up. It's also produced by one of my favourite models, Masuwaka Tsubasa! She's super gorgeous. I wanted to see what all the hype was about! I've been looking for a pen eyeliner with a fine tip, and I couldn't really find what I was looking for in regular drugstores, so I bought this. Let's just say it lives up to it's hype. I love it so far!

I'm becoming addicted to KISS ME's makeup. Packaging is beauuuutiful, and the products are amazing. Ordered the HEROINE MAKE Long&Curl Mascara. As you can see on the packaging, there's a little crown sticker. It means that it was ranked #1 on cosme (which I think is a japanese beauty product ranking website?) in the mascara section. I'm really glad to have this mascara now. I had to throw out all of my old mascaras because I've had them for too long (I typically keep my mascara for about 4 months at the longest before throwing them out. I don't want them to have bacteria, especially for products that go near my eyes!)

I'll review both of these in a later post.

I kinda just threw these bath salts into my order because the cost of the eyeliner and mascara weren't enough to qualify for free shipping.

Bison Mint Bath Salts - Was curious about these. I'm in love with the sweat bath salts but I've never heard of a cooling bath additive! I'll save this for the summer though.

Finally, Bison 7 Spices Bath Salts (couldn't find the link, I think it's out of stock now.) As you all should know by now, I love my bath salts. Can't wait to try this one out!

[REVIEW] Lollylens Circle Lenses!

I've been putting off this review for so long! I sincerely apologize.

Back in December, I received two pairs of lenses from the popular online circle lens shop, lollylens.com. They have a great selection of lenses that you can't find in other lens stores! I'm going to show you two designs now.

They came securely packaged in styrofoam blocks. I think this is probably one of the safest ways lenses are shipped to customers, because this securely protects the lenses. Packaging could be prettier tho.

It took about 2 weeks for the lenses to arrive to me. Communication was great, all my emails were answered promptly! A+ for service!

I received Pop C Dark blue lenses, and Princess Nudy in gray.

First, the grey lenses! Here's what they look like...

And here's the breakdown! These lenses mimic GEO's Nudy Grey lenses, but have a thicker dark outer ring.

(Making use of my ring light haha~)It has a 'sparkly' grey design! Coverage is great. Doesn't really blend too well with brown eyes, but would work amazingly with blue or green eyes!

The color comes out as a lice light grey, really makes the eyes stand out! I recommend these for cosplay as well, as they turn out quite nicely in photos. These can also work for daily wear!

Now, onto the Pop C Dark lenses in blue!

These lenses are great, so different from all the blue lenses I've tried. The coverage is solid, and the designs/colors are beautiful! The only thing I don't really like about these lenses is how big the outer black ring is, but the gorgeous blues make up for that.

I'd definitely recommend these for cosplay, since the color is so pretty in photos. These look very unnatural for daily wear though.

I think I might wear these for my Rorona cosplay!

[REVIEW] Kiss Me Heroine Smooth Cover Powder

A review for this was actually requested a while back... was just waiting for my new powder to arrive. (My last one decided to do a suicide jump from my bag = shattered powder all over the side walk. Fortunately it was almost finished. Wrote this post up a while ago and then forgot about it...orz

Well, here you go!

Kiss Me Heroine has become one of my favourite Japanese cosmetic brands. They have great products and adorable packaging! I love the retro anime designs. I've been using this powder I think for... 2 years? Probably one of the best that I've ever used! (Next to the Lioele one~)

Very cute dresign. Much prettier than American brands' packaging!

Comes with a marshmallowy sponge.

I really like this powder because it actually matches my skin color very well! I have like... light nude colored skin that has yellow undertones. I find that other powders are usually too white or too yellow. This one is a perfect combo.

After one light swipe. This powder can be used as a powder foundation because it has such great coverage! For those days where you don't feel like putting on bb cream or foundation, this will work well to tone down redness and cover up flaws.

I really love this powder <3

Floating

Recently been experimenting with floating/levitating photos. Heavily influenced by Natsumi Hayashi's levitating photos. They look so effortless and interesting! I'd like to experiment with this style more now that I have a camera that can manage a fast shutter speed. I've tried taking 'levitating' photos before with a point and shoot but they always come out blurry.

I know they're nothing great, just driveway pictures and one at High Park... But I really love this style! Natsumi makes it look effortless, but it's so hard to get a natural levitating look!

I'd like to do some of these photos in cosplay for Moetron outside nicer locations! Must invest in some nicer lenses and a tripod!

The lighting in my room last week was really nice. I've decorated my room a bit more since my post about moving into residence. Maybe this is a bit of a pointless post but I like this post. Just something funny to look back on.

Still a bit messy, I know. Most of what people see from my livestreams is just my bed and Totoro. The messy side is the part you're not seeing lol.

[REVIEW] Cure Natural Aqua Exfoliating Gel +Bison Bath Salts

Oh man, I feel like all I ever post now are reviews.

I do like writing reviews though, as well as reading them! I think that it's helpful to people who are looking to buy the product but want more personal information as opposed to just the product info on the website.

I recently bought Cure Natural Aqua Exfoliating Gel. I've read numerous blog reviews that raaave about this product, so I really wanted to try it out. It promises to remove dead skin cells form your face but in a super gentle manner that won't hurt your skin like other exfoliating scrubs. This isn't a scrub though, it's a gel! And it's super gentle. It's made with natural ingredients and is like 90% water!

I bought it from this eBay Seller.

The package came packed super nicely! Lots of bubble wrap to make sure the bottle arrived safely. It also came with a pack of moisturising bath powder! I love my bath powders and salts. (*´艸`*)

The bottle is medium sized. The pump is super smooth, so you don't have to press hard to get a lot of product out.

It has a watery gel consistency. No scent either!

When you rub it into your skin, the dead cells come off! Those little white rolls are my dead skin cells!

I've never used a product like this so I thought this was really cool. I used it on my face... I never realized how much dead skin I had on my faces! Especially since I used St Ives scrub exfoliator.

It was actually pretty gross lol. Especially on the sides of my nose! I washed my face before using the exfoliator... But then makeup was still coming out the pores on the sides of my nose! Thank god for this product!

I totally recommend it! Although it's a bit pricy... It should last a long time though because you're not supposed to use it every day. Twice a week maybe? And you don't need very much product to get the full effect!

Now, for some bison bath salt pics. I recently used the Volcanic Clay type! It's very nice. I did a review on it last year in this review post!

It's a purple powder with clear chunky crystals. Has a fruity scent.

Purple powder turns a greenish grey. Just like a volcanic cloud. It lives up to its name.

It also looks like a volcanic cloud!

Basically, I love Bison bath salts. I can never get enough! I ordered two different types in my SaSa haul. I'll review those when they arrive.

I'm going to bed now, just marathonned an essay. Blogging is such a great stress reliever.

Recently ordered this Etude House Miss Tangerine Follow Me Lip Tint from Cosmetic Love. It was $7.98 with free shipping.

I've been looking for a peachy-pink lip tint for daily wear. I read Petit Poppy's review on this tint and decided to try it out for myself!

Description:

Etude House Follow Me Tint: Follow 2NE1 lip sytles with edgy & unpredictable color! This cool, mint glossy tint stick goes on clear but changes from pale pink to intense fuchsia and every shade in between, according to your passion.

The packaging is so simple and pretty! I wish North American makeup packaging was this nice.

The lip tint itself is orange which raises a few eyebrows, but it changes to a peachy pink when applied to the lips. Petit Poppy's review explains it better with swatches.

This is the colour directly applied to the lips. (sorry for the dry lips orz). There are some streaks or orange, but they fade into a peach pink after oxidizing (= after 30 seconds to a minute.)

I love this tint! It's creamy and layers nicely, unlike my Tony Moly lip tint which is dry on the lips and builds intensity super quickly.

I recently did a cosmetics haul on SASA and eBay, waiting for my stuff to arrive! I'll review the products when they arrive. ( • ̀ω•́ )

On another note, I'm thinking of changing my blog layout. I've had this one since September I think... I might switch to a spring theme? :3

Letter from penpal! ☆

Today I received a letter/package from my Japanese penpal! Her name is Masae and she's from Tokushima, Japan. We're both the same age. I first met her on Japan Guide's penpal website when I was 16. I've had a few penpals but she's the only one I've kept a steady stream of communication with! (♡˙︶˙♡) We typically send each other about 3 - 4 letters a year.

We usually exchange letters + small gifts! Here's what she sent me this time! Σ(ﾟ∀ﾟﾉ)ﾉ

Kyoto ver. Hello Kitty phone charm! Masae sent me a sakura charm from a temple when she visited Kyoto, which is the one I use now! (*'ω'*) I love this one, I think I'll also add it to my phone!

COSPLAY MAKEUP TOOLS

So I recently got an email from a reader asking me about the makeup that I use for cosplay! I tend to wear more makeup when I cosplay as to conceal all of my blemishes or minor flaws. Since I like to have nice pictures taken when I am cosplaying, it helps to reduce the amount of editing I have to do. (っ・З・`)っ

I also figured this would be a good way to get back into blogging about cosplay. I think I'll start working on Rorona at the end of February during reading week since I don't have midterm exams.

Also, this isn't my whole makeup collection. This are simply the products which I use for cosplay because they make me look super uguu. ლ(╹◡╹ლ) It might also seem that I caaaake on the makeup. I don't, it only seems like it because I have so many products!

I only use two or three products for daily wear. I have to work a bit harder because my naked face has some discolouration and I'm super acne-prone. The products I use help to create a seemingly flawless canvas for my face, and help my appearance in convention/cosplay photos!

The products I use are to create the look in the above picture. (♡˙︶˙♡)

I take lots of inspiration from gyaru eye makeup and makeup tutorials from magazines like Popteen and random references like the picture below.

The routine + products I use here are ones I use to create my usually "girly/dolly" look for female characters I cosplay.

This isn't exactly a tutorial although I do explain how I use the products! I'll do a tutorial later when I post about my new Vampire Knight Yuki cosplay! :]

B R U S H E S

I don't have many brushes... I don't wear much make-up on a daily basis so I always hesitate buying new brushes. I've been thinking about getting a stippling brush and powder brush. Will probably get a few from the ELF website.

I currently have two big puffy brushes, a medium sized brush, a smaller brush, and an eyebrow brush which I can't find at the moment. I really need to wash my brushes again ehehe...

Also have a mini and regular sized eyeshadow sponge thing. (swab?)

B B C R E A M

I currently own two BB creams, SKIN79's Oriental Gold and Triple Functions.
I reviewed them here. I like them more than foundations for various reasons.

1) They suit my skintones better - I could never find foundations that suited my skin well! My skin colours get paler/white in winter and more yellow in the summer.
2) They have properties which are apparently good for your skin.
3) Varying coverage - first layer starts off a bit sheer but they are easily buildable and have nice coverage. Also looks less cakey than foundation.

When I cosplay, I mix the two colours. I find it makes thicker and nicer coverage, but still not as heavy as foundation.

C O N C E A L E R

I tend to use BB cream under my eyes and just layer it a bit to work as a concealer. I usually wear this concealer on the Sundays of conventions after staying up in the early hours of the morning from Saturday night.ヽ(*ﾟдﾟ)ノ It has okay coverage, gets the job done.

P O W D E R S

I use two different powders. First is Kiss Me Heroine Smooth Cover Powder in 01. This powder matches my skintone but has a slight yellow tone. It sets the BB cream very nicely.

I don't really like the yellow tone it casts on my face so I go over it with this Lioele Sun Elastic Powder Pact in Nude Beige. It's more of a white beige. After sweeping it over my face, the white-beige colour tones down the yellow. In photos, my face looks white-beige.

I slightly contour my face with NYC Mosaic Face Powder in Transulent Highlighter Glow. I have a pretty round face so I contour the sides of my face and along my forehead with this light darker beige powder. This helps create the illusion of shadows, making my face look more angular. I dropped my palette though and it shattered so I need to pick up another one.

Finally, I highlight my nose, (lack of) cheekbones, and forehead with Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearls. It shimmers a bit and helps those areas catch some light.

B L U S H

I have two different blushes that I use. (Not together though.)

The one I use most often in cosplay is my Majolica Majorca's Puff de Cheek in Apricot Macaroon. I use this one often because I play up my eyes as my most striking feature, therefore I don't want too much colour on my face pulling away from them. The blush is a pinkish apricot color, which offers subtle colour but doesn't show up in photos too well. It works well with my yellowish skintone.

Second is Naris Up Chou Chou Cheek Powder in Strawberry Pink. This blush is suuuuper bright and buildable. You only need to pat it on twice with the puff to get super intense colour. I don't use this blush too often, only when I want my cheeks to stand out.... I usually make Ringo wear it lol. (^皿^) I find it suits her white skin tone better than my yellow skin tone.

E Y E S H A D O W

I really don't wear much eyeshadow at all. I mainly use a shimmery nude eyeshadow ( which I can't find, I'll update this when I find it) because it matches my eyelid colour and has a nice shimmer.

If/when I apply colour, it's usually brown. I use Lioele Dollish Triple Eyeshadow in Bronze Brown. Sometimes I go over it with my Make Up Forever Copper eyeliner and blend it into the eyeshadow.

E Y E L I N E R S

I currently found this new eyeliner which I love! It's the jey black eyeliner from Maybelline's Lash Stiletto line. This eyeliner has a felt-tip applicator and draws very precise lines. It doesn't smudge either. I know some girls don't apply much / lighter colour eyeliner, but I feel that black eyeliner helps to make your eyes stand out. Especially in photos.

I recently bought Dolly Wink eyeliner in black. I'll see how that works out, so I might combine it with my current eyeliner.

I also use Sana Eye Shadow Liner in black. It's black eyeshadow but has a spongy tip applicator which is great for applying under the eyes.

M A S C A R A

I have two main mascaras I use.

First I apply Rimmel's Lash Flirt as I find it works really well to create length. I really crave dolly length eyelashes because my eyelashes are quite thin and short.

Next I use Maybelline's Falsies mascara. This mascara is great for lower lashes and creating volumes! Really fattens and lengthens lashes.

F A L S E E Y E L A S H E S

These are a must for cosplay! They really make you eyes stand out and give you a girlier look, if that's what you're going for. I'm not too particular on brands - recently I've been using these Bare Essentials lashes that I got...from the dollar store! These are quite natural designs. I've been meaning to try out some 'dolly' style lashes, like from Dolly Wink, Eyemazing, Diamond Lash...etc. Maybe one day

Finally....

C I R C L E L E N S E S

These are an absolute must for me when I cosplay! It comes to the point where I feel uncomfortable if I don't have them in lol, I crave alien dolly eyes. (๑ゝڡ◕๑)

Not only do they give me huge animu eyes, they also allow me to change my eye colour to match the character I am cosplaying.

SoooOOoooo, that's it for now! These are the tools and products that I use when I do my cosplay makeup! I really wish I could put this much effort into my everyday look but it's too much work for me because I'm a lazy bum. ┐(´д｀)┌ I normally just put on BB cream, powder, the shimmery-sheer eyeshadow and occasionally copper eyeliner.

I'll be sure to do a tutorial on how I do my cosplay makeup later on, with an accompanying video!

I recommend all of these products (except for the concealer, it does an okay job but nothing amazing.)

Hello earthlings!

I haven't blogged in a while... I remember last year I had so much to blog about that I would write up scheduled posts in advance! Recently, I haven't felt much inspiration to blog. My days seem so bland. Yuck. (ﾟ⊿ﾟ)

Happy February! Valentine's day is coming up soon. Can't wait to spend my 19th Valentine's day alone! I'll probably spend my evening sitting alone in my room, stuffing my face with chocolates and watching romantic comedies or Mad Men. ヾ(*´∀｀*)ﾉ (That's my new series to watch after I catch up on Community, which I'm on S3 EP8)

Anyway, I wanted to blog about my exchange plans! During the third year of university (we have four years of uni in Canada), we have the opportunity to spend a semester or a year studying abroad at one of my university's sister unis! So of course I want to go to the UK! I'm studying communications and multimedia for my major. I've been looking at the sister establishments in the UK and only two offer specific courses for my major... University of Sheffield and University of Leeds. My dad was pushing for me to go to University of Bristol but Bristol doesn't have the courses I need. So my current first choice option is University of Leeds.

I have relatives that live in Cardiff, Wales, which is really close to Leeds! I think my dad just wants my Aunt to keep and eye on me..

I'm so excited to go to the UK! It'll be so different from Canada. I know some people have issues with being so far away from their families. I'm planning to do the full year exchange there, so my parents said that they'll come visit me over Christmas and we can spend it at my aunt's place. And my aunt has a pretty big house, it's so nice. So I'm kinda looking forward to it, hehe! I'm currently keeping updated with the blog of some girl from my university who is studying at Leeds, she says there's a lot of independent studying, but she's really enjoying it. She's also planning quite a few trips to the surrounding countries, which is great! The only country near us is the United States. I've been there quite a few times, but I should think that it's quite convenient having so many countries nearby in the UK! Oh, and I'm also really looking forward to checking out the UK cons like MCM Expo... Going overseas isn't going to stop me from cosplaying. ;)

My second choice is to go to Australia! However my parents are kinda against it - apparently I won't experience too much culture shock because Aussie and Canadian societies are generally alike? My dad says that Toronto and Sydney are very alike. University of Sydney offers communications and multimedia programs too. ( ´°ω°`) I'd like to go to Australia one day though.

Now I just have to save up like crazy! Gotta go job hunting soon ><

The blanket I won from DannyChoo.com x Jlist Christmas giveaway arrived! It's made out of the softest fleecy material ever. Omg it's so warm and nice And bonus that it's Kiki's Delivery Service! Probably one of my favourite Ghibli movies ever.

My mom's birthday was on the 29th of January. We got her a chestnut-cream cake! Chestnut cake is actually delicious. People tend to think that it's gross but omg most delicious cake ever.

I apologize for not having much to blog about, but that will change soon! I've got a few reviews coming up as well as documenting my cosplay adventures! Anime North is in less than 4 months and I haven't started. (Yes, it takes me this long to plan haha.) I'll really need to plan patterns and buy materials soon. I'll probably have to do these things myself >< Also need to start planning Ringo's outfit!

I have lots of ideas for our cosplays. When it gets warmer and school lets out, I'll be working on a cosplay video! Maybe like a showcase or music video type of thing.
