Our media puts out many reports that often conflict with each other. Our politicians in office try to spin the reports in a positive light. They know what happens on their watch is what the American people will hold them accountable for. The problem in solving problems in general is that you have to acknowledge there is a problem before you can work on an effective solution.

I believe our economic problems will continue to get worse because both the media and the Obama administration and most of Congress and the Senate claim things are already getting better. The BLS U-6 number is at 17.5% which is the highest ever since the Great Depression. That means we have almost 30 million people who need jobs and can’t get one. That will eventually translate into more foreclosures, more homeless, and more strain on all our social services. The 30 million people and their families know the truth and the government needs to take real action.

NEW YORK (Fortune) —

It’s time to stop glorifying our economic doldrums with this “jobless recovery” nonsense.

Yes, the economy did grow in the third quarter, for the first time in a year. Fewer Americans are filing new claims for unemployment insurance, and giant financial institutions appear less apt to collapse and send us into another stupor. The stock market has recovered much of its winter decline.

But so far there is no sign of an employment turnaround — and without one, and soon, all the other gains could prove fleeting.

The U.S. has lost jobs in 22 straight months, and Friday’s news that 10.2% of the labor force is out of work — the highest reading since 1983 — shows just how far we have to go.

Without better job prospects, the consumers whose spending makes up the lion’s share of economic activity will remain tightfisted. That will slow the healing of deep wounds in the housing and financial markets.

“To have a real recovery you need to put people to work,” said John Harrington, who runs Harrington Investments, a socially responsible asset management firm in Napa, Calif. “Right now we aren’t doing that.”

We haven’t even hit Black Friday yet and there are some terrific prices on laptops preloaded Windows 7. These notebooks are not even on sale but are priced very competitively at Best Buy. These links might be dead soon, but an easy search online will get you the same results.

New! Acer – Aspire Laptop with AMD Athlon™ Single-Core Processor $329

New! Toshiba – Satellite Laptop with Intel® Celeron® Processor – Silver $349

Walmart has an even lower price laptop preloaded with Windows 7. I think these are just their normal everyday prices.

HP 15.6″ Pavilion G60-519WM Entertainment Laptop PC with Intel Celeron Processor 900 & Windows 7 Home Premium $298

Quite honestly, I don’t need a new laptop but can’t help myself from looking at the newest stuff. I wonder how much better Windows 7 is compared to Windows Vista. I am not a fan of Vista and preferred Windows XP.

One of the issues I have with new operating systems (OS) is that my old programs may not be compatible. It seems to be the same story every time I upgrade. Not just programs but hardware too. Often times, you have to download patches or whatever, and that does not always work. I am specifically talking about printers. I guess that is why they sell bundles that offer free printers after rebates.

Anyways, I love the low prices and hope they continue to go down.

Amazon offers great deals on laptops and netbooks with windows 7 preloaded and it you buy it there, you can save on the bottome line by not paying sales tax (8-10% in most states) and get free shipping. You don’t even have to wait in line at the stores. I created a widget with the Amazon laptops and netbooks that come out cheaper than the ones listed above.

What an interesting fight. This one everyone probably predicted correctly Fedor to win by KO or submission. Except for UFC Dana who was secretly hoping the Fedor legend would get knocked out.
The fight was very competitive considering in went to 2 rounds.
