Well, I am happy to report after one year of using Windows Vista, I can safely say it’s the most annoying OS I have ever used.

While I tried to reduce the amount of tinkering on the OS to bare minimum possible, there is a steady stream of daft things happening that I have to deal with. Especially in the beginning when I have to remove the crapwares Lenovo has dumped into the default install.

Just last month, I got annoyed by the persistent “ding” sound whenever I clicked on a listbox, which required delving into the registry to fix (surprisingly, I have not clicked any listbox until recently, for some reasons, so I didn’t notice this earlier).

And then, there is the adventure of resizing the Vista partition this month, which I might write about in a future blog post.

Yeah, at this stage, there is little hope this bug will ever be fixed.

Compiz Fusion developers are going thru a rewrite to C++ in version 0.9. Meanwhile, Gnome people is busy with Gnome Shell for Gnome 3. Both sides have not had a good history of co-operating.

I was caught out by this bug recently. I was replacing the original Russian screenshots in an English help file for an application (Double Commander). I stupidly didn’t notice that the screenshots were missing the titlebars and I had created about 3/4 of them. I had to switch to metacity for the window decoration and recreate them all over again

This bug still exists in Jaunty (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in Karmic too). Thanks for your fix, it will be nice to take screenshots with my fancy compiz decorations

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you the expected number of full colour pages from the colour toners, because I did not make a count.

However, I did notice by the time the first black toner ran out, I have also ran out of paper. Since I bought a ream of 500 sheets in the beginning and I printed mostly double-sided, the first black toner did lasted almost 1000 prints. Which confirmed what the manual claimed.

hello
i am thinking to buy this printer clp-315,
you people who already bought this one, did someone of you know to tell realistic opinion how many full color pages can print this one, or with first set of toners can i print 500 color pages with 80-90% filling of the paper.
i have canon lbp2900 mono laser, and it prints more than 1000 pages full text with one toner. so canon is good for that, but will be clp-315 good like this one, economic view?
