A diverse group of 25 undergraduate students, all interested in legal careers, is participating in a special four-week summer session at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. The law school is hosting the Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program, which is designed to provide current college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors exposure to the rigors of law school and contact with legal professionals. The PLUS program is also aimed at promoting diversity in the legal profession.

A redesign of A2J Author software currently in the works will allow pro se litigants greater access to A2J Guided Interviews by allowing the application to be used on any Web browser, including the browser on a cell phone. Now, anybody with access to a computer or a smartphone will be able to create a fileable legal document by answering a series of simple questions about their legal issue.

"Giving Ground," a play by IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law Professor Henry H. Perritt, Jr., is more than a whodunit full of murder, mayhem, political corruption and shady corporate dealings. Premiering May 3, 2012, at the Thompson Center Auditorium in Chicago, the play is also a carefully crafted program through which Illinois attorneys can earn MCLE credit. Caroline Teichner '12 and Anne Schmidlin '13 will represent IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in the 2012 Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition March 23 to 25 at the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison. Law school teams from many of the top moot court programs in the country will participate in the tournament, which is named for Judge Evan A. Evans, who served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit from 1916 to 1948.

The names of 21 IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law alumni have been added to Iustitiam Servaverunt, an artistic tribute to the law school's century-old tradition of educating judges and to the many law school alumni who have served on state and federal courts. Nicknamed the "Judges Wall," Iustitiam Servaverunt is a stainless steel sculpture that bears the names of more than 250 IIT Chicago-Kent alumni who have become judges.

Graduates of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law have attained the highest pass rate in Illinois on the latest state bar examination. According to results released by the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar, 97 percent of IIT Chicago-Kent graduates who took the bar exam in July 2011 for the first time received passing scores, exceeding the pass rates of graduates from Illinois' eight other law schools.

Carlasare, a second-year student at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, has won the 19th annual Ilana Diamond Rovner Appellate Advocacy Competition, sponsored by the law school's Moot Court Honor Society. Columbia University professor Jagdish Bhagwati has been named Chicago-Kent College of Law's Centennial Visitor for 2010. Professor Bhagwati will deliver the 2010 Centennial Lecture, "U.S. Trade Policy: Why the Drift Is Dangerous," at 3 p.m. on March 3 in the Judge Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Courtroom at Chicago-Kent. The lecture is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested.

Chicago-Kent's first Ralph Brill Visiting Professor is Terri LeClercq

Terri LeClercq, a prolific scholar and nationally recognized authority on legal writing, research and drafting, has been named Chicago-Kent College of Law's first Ralph Brill Visiting Professor. Professor LeClercq will visit the law school during the week of February 22, 2010, to participate in a variety of activities with Chicago-Kent faculty and students and the Chicago legal community.

In Memoriam: Michael G. Rogers '89

The Chicago-Kent community is saddened by the recent death of alumnus and adjunct professor Michael G. Rogers '89, who taught at our law school for more than 15 years. Mike lectured widely throughout the country on the use of technology in civil and criminal litigation and other topics, conducted litigation technology CLE programs at Chicago-Kent, and authored a leading textbook on litigation technology in 2006.

IIT establishes civil rights award in honor of Chicago-Kent Distinguished Professor Sheldon Nahmod

Illinois Institute of Technology has established an annual award honoring Distinguished Professor Sheldon H. Nahmod for his work in civil rights and civil liberties. The first award was presented on January 21 to students from IIT and Chicago's Gage Park High School for their project to create a memorial about the equal housing marches led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Chicago in 1966.

Governor Quinn appoints David A. Erickson to conduct a comprehensive review of the Meritorious Good Time Program

David A. Erickson, associate director of the Trial Advocacy Program, director of the program in Criminal Litigation and a senior instructor at Chicago-Kent College of Law, has been appointed by Governor Pat Quinn to lead a comprehensive review of the Illinois Department of Corrections' Meritorious Good Time Program.
