So, I’ve finally found one that’s a bit easier to use and thought I’d share the good news with my lovely readers. Nice ‘n Easy Colour Blend Foam claims to be able to offer a non-drip foam for ‘no mess application’.

How it works?

The hair dye comes in 46 different shades, from extra light blonde to black. The kit contains the Colour Blend Formula, Activator Bottle and two sachets of conditioner (which is good because I always like to give my hair a good conditioning after dying it). All you have to do is pour the formula into the activator bottle and gently rock from side to side – easy peasy.

Then you add the cap onto the bottle to create the foam and apply just like you are shampooing your hair. I actually thought it would be too good to be true, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t dripping all over my bathroom floor.

It was also much easier to apply. Although I wouldn’t say it was quite like shampooing, I’ll give all credit to Nice ‘n Easy as it did make the whole experience much easier.

Oh, another thing I loved about it was that it didn’t leave the tell-tale signs of dying on my forehead – bonus!

The two sachets of conditioner did come in handy as my ends had become really frazzled from too much straightening (and dying!), but a couple of washes with the conditioner and I was left with glossy locks.

The verdict?

I usually dye my hair with my friends because of the mess it makes. The time it takes to plan and organise hair dying evenings means that I usually end up with roots for longer than I’d like. The foamy consistency of the colourant means that I can now actually dye my hair myself. I’ll probably miss my nights with my girls, but I’m sure we’ll find another excuse!

This week I thought I would share some of my lipstick obsessions with you! Here are my top picks:

Bag balm:
Now I know what you are thinking, this container does not look like your traditional ChapStick- that’s because it’s way better than any other lip treatments out there. Bag balm is made in Vermont and is actually used for cow udders or on cuts and scratches- but don’t get grossed out just yet, this is my best-kept beauty secret! I got this tip from one of the girls on MTV’s Laguna Beach (way back when MTV did behind the scenes tours of their rooms and stuff). One of the girls swore by bag balm, and I just had to try it myself. It is actually the perfect lip treatment, with no sent, and a super moisturizing texture- kind of like Vaseline, but better. I usually always apply it before going to bed, but it is also a great option for during the day when you are on the go. The only inconvenience is the container format- it’s not very purse friendly. You can usually find this bad boy at your local hardware store!

Everyday lip-gloss:
This MAC lip glass was actually my first MAC lip product that I got for my 16th birthday. I remember requesting that exact color, and I have continued to buy it ever since. MAC’s Lip glass in Underage is a great color if you are looking to create a neutral lip with a hint of peachy pink. It’s a great look for everyday, but it can also look great with a smoky eye for a more sophisticated evening look.

Red lipstick:
Every girl needs a great red lipstick as part of her lipstick collection. Red lips are no longer reserved for special occasions and nights out. Now the rules are that there are no rules! Just remember not to overdo it with the eye makeup if you opt for a red lip, especially during the day. My go to red lipstick is Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Passion. This is a classic full body red lipstick that will look great on practically everyone.

Fuchsia:
My new favorite lipstick color is actually a bright fuchsia- it’s the perfect pop of color that will transform any look and bring it to that next level of glam. There are so many shades of bright pink available, but my personal favorite is Nars Cosmetic’s semi matte lipstick in Funny Face. This color stays on for hours and doesn’t leave your lips feeling dry. It is the perfect summer accessory that will definitely make you stand out in a crowd.

Primers:
No lipstick pro works without her set of primers! Much like the way you prime your face with foundation, it is equally important to prime your lips especially when applying a bright lip color. Think of your face and your lips as a canvas where everything needs to be evened out. Using a good primer on your lips will not only make the lip color last longer, but it will also look better on your lips. I have switched primers throughout the years and lately I have been very satisfied with MAC’s Prep Primer. This uncolored primer works like a magic eraser and evens out your lips, leaving them lipstick ready!

• Granville Island is awesome because it used to be an industrial area full of factories and when the time came to build stores and a tourist attraction, they kept all of the same buildings and put stores in them. Some factories still function in those buildings which makes the stores are wonderfully unique. Granville Island also has a HUGE market full of fresh fruit, veggies, fish, meat, and pastries. If you’re like me and you like to buy snacks to keep in your hotel room, Granville market is a perfect first stop on your trip to Vancouver!

• Whistler is probably my most recommended outing if you plan on traveling to Vancouver. Whether you snowboard or ski or (like me) are incapable of either, there is something wonderful for you to see in Whistler BC. It’s an hour and a half away from downtown Vancouver and you can either rent a car or take the train to get there. Just the drive to Whistler is absolutely breathtaking, and let me tell you, you won’t be able to catch your breath when you arrive at Whistler either. There are many shops and restaurants (we had lunch at Citta) to check out and some great patios to kick back and have a beer. I would also recommend taking the ski lift(s) to the top of the mountain. The view on your way down is literally beyond any description but I’ll try The blue mountains with snow crusted peaks reminded me of The Sound of Music — which is to say that they didn’t look real. It was an unbelievable experience that made me feel like I was watching a 3-D film.

• Gastown is a cute little neighborhood worth taking a walk around day or night. It’s a safe and hip area filled with unique shops and fantastic restaurants. There’s a quaint steam clock, beautiful brick buildings, and cobblestone paths lined with beautiful trees and gorgeous lampposts.

• Stanley Park is the “Central Park” of Vancouver but bigger and with a view that just won’t quit. You can rent bikes or just take a long walk around the park, check out the totem poles, and the benches dedicated to people, or the lighthouse that is reminiscent of the original one that stood there. The thing about the Vancouver landscape is that standing on the dock there are so many different things to see, the boats off in the distance, the crisp blue water, the city and sky scrapers, and of course the ever present lush mountains surrounding you.

• Food trucks are a must when you head over to Vancouver. Some of the best meals I had came from these wonderfully bright and charismatic trucks. I had the best pulled pork sandwich at Re-Up BBQ on Hornby and Georgia. The meat was tender and juicy, with a wonderful sauce that wasn’t too sweet and had a nice kick to it, add in the creamy and crunchy coleslaw and you have a filling lunch for $7.50. I ate the best grilled cheese sandwich at Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck, located right outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery (another must see). For under $20 we got two grilled cheese sandwiches, one with white bread and cheddar and one with white bread, provolone, and smoked double bacon – talk about heaven.

Jeans and yoga pants are my top choices for everyday. (I’m trying to break the yoga pants habit).

Beauty must-haves… 

The things that I’ve grown to love and can’t live without are:

My Clarisonic Mia2, Clarisonic Opal, and my Arbonne skin care regiment.

I never thought I would become so obsessed with my skin but, here I am. A skin care snob.

This is hard for me to answer. One thing that every girl should have is something that makes her happy. I don’t know what it is for everyone. I’m not even sure it’s a tangible item. It could be something like confidence and inner strength. Courage to stand up for herself or it could just be lip gloss. I’m sure it’s different for everyone.

The Lumineers – Ho Hey

OMG. I can’t leave the house without my iPhone.  I’ve tried to leave without keys but, I guess I need those too.

There are too many to mention. Here are a couple of my top choices:

Peking Man just north of the downtown core at Leslie and Sheppard. Love their Peking Duck.

Barberians Steak House at Yonge and Elm., best steak in the city and a long history here in Toronto.

Cafe Crepe on Queen has one of my fave desert crepes in the city.

Ideal friday night plans:

There’s nothing like a girls night out. Going for a walk, doing some shopping, having some dinner, drinks and sharing desert!  

 All time favorite book/movie:

We have some criteria for a cover-up. It has to be cute (of course!), it has to be light enough to keep you cool, and it should be a little sexy.
