If you’re of Irish Heritage like me, then you’re already drunk! But once you sober up, I’ll need you to reread this for a chance to win Saints tickets and save lives. That’s right…it’s the ultimate “win-win.”

Chef Who Dat, a loyal Saints fan and all around good American, asked for the Chicks’ help in promoting a fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s, a foundation that raises money for children’s cancer research. These folks are actually bold enough to shave their heads, that’s right, chicks and dudes, in order to raise money and awareness for children’s cancer causes. The Chef and his Cafe 641 clique are joining in by auctioning off a pair of tickets to the 2010 Saints/Bucs game in Section 641, Row 40, Seats 13-14. The goal is to raise $3,000!

There are a couple ways you can help. You can place a bid on their ebay page or directly on the St. Baldrick’s page hosted by one of the fundraisers. This Chick will actually put down the green beer for a moment to take the time to place her bid right now.

C’mon all you karma cleansers out there. The football gods will remember this come September…

Be VERY afraid. Bell received an offer sheet to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles for a deal worth 1.7 million dollars with a half million in guaranteed money. The Saints have a week to match it. If Bell thinks the grass is greener just because the Iggles are “bleeding green”, let me assure him that getting booed by his fans, possibly getting things tossed at him on the field, and bashed by the unforgiving Philadelphia media will get old after a while. I’d say by week 3.

As for the Saints, they’ve already lost linebacker Scott Fujita, defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove, and Darren Sharper has hinted he’s growing impatient and is ready to roll with either the Jets or Bears. Sharper is quoted as saying the Saints aren’t “showing him love.” (Awww baby, well why didn’t you say something sooner? We Chicks have more than enough “love” for you.) Seems like the Saints are in a gambling mood this offseason. They’re giving players a chance to see what’s out there in the hopes they’ll come on home. Hasn’t worked out so well thus far, but it’s still early.

So what do you think, Saints fans? Should the Saints fight to keep Bell and Sharper or cut their losses? Sheesh, this is harder than filling out my March Madness brackets…

I know I haven’t been in touch in a while, but a lot has happened in the past few months… I’ll get into all of that at another time, but in the meantime, I wanted to post some fun info I found on one kick-a$$ fan from Racine.

Jim Becker, a lifelong Packers fan, is the newest inductee into the Green Bay Packers FAN Hall of Fame. He’s a 79-year-old Packer season ticket holder, and he has attended games every years from 1952 through 2008. Becker and his wife raised 11 children, so as you can imagine, with nearly a dozen children, the price of keeping his Lambeau tickets was a hefty one and likely quite the strain on the Becker’s pocketbook.

How, might you wonder, did Becker manage to keep the tickets? He sold his blood…at $15 a pint. This not only allowed him the amazing, lifer-altering experience of catching the games from Lambeau, it also, literally, saved his life. According to his nomination form for the Packers FAN Hall of Fame, the following transpired:

“During a routine physical, [Becker] had to fill out a questionnaire about family medical history. The doctor noticed Jim’s father died at 43 years old of hemochromatosis. Jim had to be tested. He had it. It is a condition that retains excessive amounts of iron in your blood. The only treatment is to remove the iron by giving blood. By then he had sold 145 pints of blood to pay for his season tickets. If he hadn’t, he very well may have died like his father. His love of the Packers saved his life. To this day he still donates 3-4 times a month.”

Becker becomes the 12th member of the Packers FAN Hall of Fame, an idea the organization came up with back in 1998 to annually honor a devout fan of the team. He’ll receive four club seats to a 2010 Packers home game; a $500 Packers Pro Shop gift certificate; a road trip for two to a 2010 Packers away game, including game ticket, air fare and hotel accommodation; and a one-year subscription to Packer Plus and Packer Insider.

But the best gift of all: Becker’s good health. And healthy love of the Pack.

Maybe you heard the one about the Jets cutting the number one rusher on the number one rushing offense a couple of weeks ago? Or the rumor about them trying to re sign him for less money? Well it didn’t happen, and Thomas Jones decided to sign with Kansas City, in what can only be described as a spite move. I mean really…Kansas City? I’m digressing.

Enter Ladainian Tomlinson. Yes, he of the Electric Glide, helmet over the head, unwilling to play hurt and actually pretty well regarded former San Diego Charger.

For two years, and $5.1 million ($5.6 on an escalator) the eighth leading rusher in NFL history is joining Gang Green, and along with Antonio Cromartie, makes the second former Charger to sign with the team this offseason.

He’s been offered a larger role and a chance to compete than he had in SD or what the Vikings were offering him. How he will respond is anyone’s guess, but I’m really hoping he’ll take being cut as an impetus to prove the doubters wrong.

He’s a year younger than Jones, but to hear the hood tell it, he needed to retire two years ago. Even in a reduced role (playing behind another free agent-Darren Sproles) he wasn’t very productive compared to TJ, but he did take the deal that TJ wouldn’t, so here he is.

Only time will tell if this deal is actually going to work out in the Jets favor.

It’s comforting to know that after a 3-13 season, the Bucs are willing to make changes. Big changes.
Let’s run through some of them:

1. Hiring Eric Yarber as the new wide receiver’s coach. So let’s recap: Last year, just before the season started, the Bucs fired new offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski, and replaced him with in-over-his-head QB coach Greg Olson.

Then, in the middle of the season, the Bucs fired Defensive Coordinator Jim Bates and Coach Raheem took over. Rah did a significantly better job with the players he had than Bates did, but, you know, he has a few things to focus on as head coach, too.

So the solution to this coaching disarray, naturally, was to keep the same coordinators and hire a new wide receiver’s coach. Everyone sing it with me now: 16-0! 16-0! 16-0!*

2. Hiring Alex Van Pelt as QB coach. Oh yeah, they hired him, too. At least Olson doesn’t have to do double-duty anymore?

3. Cutting Antonio Bryant. (And not picking up any top free-agent receivers.) Hey Yarber, guess who your new number one receiver is?
Ha, trick question! You don’t have one!

4. Signing Reggie Brown. Ok, the Bucs did sign one receiver. The former Eagle had been benched in Philly, allegedly because he didn’t get along with McNabb and refused to play hard for the QB. Common wisdom is that part of the reason Antonio Bryant was cut is because his me-first attitude was damaging to young QB Josh Freeman. Um…

Also, you know a free agent pick-up is a good one when it inspires an article titled, “Brown could prove to still have value for Bucs.” GAME CHANGER!

5. Signing Jon Alston. The former Raider linebacker seems like a potential special teams player, so that’s OK I guess. At least we can improve the team’s one league-leading unit. Plus, Alston went to Stanford, and I like having some smart guys on the team. (Though, apparently, the Bucs do not. Right, Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle?)

*To be fair, the Bucs also made Special Teams Coach/Associate Head Coach/Bucs-Chick-SUPER-FAVE Rich Bisaccia stick to his contract and not run to USC with the ever-petulant Lane Kiffin. So I give them full, unsarcastic credit for that.

It’s either a high school football player’s wet dream come true, or his worst nightmare. The Coolidge High School varsity football team in Washington, D.C. is about to take its orders from a woman. Natalie Randolph was hired as the first female high school football coach in history.

Allow me to be the among the first to say, “Well it’s about damn time!”

Randolph is a former player for the D.C. Diva’s pro football team and she’s also one of the school’s science teachers. Despite winning a championship with her team in 2006, there are likely a few quiet skeptics (see: douchebags) out there who don’t think she’s fit for the job because she lacks the proper (ahem) “equipment.” But who cares about them? Besides, The Women’s Sports Foundation has her back. They’ve already showered Randolph with praise for the historic achievement.

Hopefully she’ll be given a chance to actually do her job…as in not getting canned if the team doesn’t win a state championship after the first year. Either way, these chicks are proud of you, Natalie! Now we can only wonder if and when the NFL will ever decide to leap out of the Middle Ages…

First he stunk up the place at the Senior Bowl, then he crapped out at the combine, now his woeful Wonderlic scores have him in the headlines. Tebow scored a 22 out of 50 on the NFL IQ test. (So basically, he spelled his name right and knew the name of the 8th month of the year.) But in Tebow’s defense, the average score for an NFL players is 24. Plus, when it comes to sucky scores, he’s in good company. NFL stars like Brett Favre and Dan Marino also tanked on the test. Kinda makes you wonder, if the Wonderlic is not a true indicator of an athlete’s performance, why does the NFL even bother?

If you’re curious as to what’s on this test and why these athletes seem to struggle so much, I’ve provided a few sample questions below. Let’s see if you’re as much of a genius as you think.

1. Look at the numbers below. What number should come next?
27
9
3
1
1/3
1/9
?

2. Assume the first 2 statements are true. Is the final one: True, False, or Not Certain?

The boy plays for the Tigers. All the players on the Tigers wear white sneakers. The boy wears white sneakers.

3. Paper sells for 21 cents per pad. What will 5 pads cost?

4. A train travels 20 feet in 1/5 seconds At this exact speed, how many feet will it travel in three seconds?

5. When rope is selling at $.10 a foot, how many feet can you buy for sixty cents?

6. In printing an article of 48,000 words, a printer decides to use two sizes of type. Using the larger type, a printed page contains 1,800 words. Using smaller type, a page contains 2,400 words. The article is allotted 21 full pages in a magazine. How many pages must be in smaller type?

7. The hours of daylight and darkness in SEPTEMBER are nearest equal to the hours of daylight and darkness in:
1. June 2. March 3. May 4. November

8. Which letter is missing from the group below?
E B J
A A A
F C R
B B D
C A C
D B ?

9. In a typical city in the Southern Hemisphere, which of the following months sees the most snowfall?
January February December
April August November

10. Flammable/Inflammable
Do these words have:
a. Similar meanings
b. Contradictory Meanings
c. Mean neither the opposite or the same

Wanna know how you did? Here’s the answer key.

1. 1/27. Every number is divided by 3 in the sequence.

2. – True. All Tigers wear white sneakers and the boy is a Tiger.

3. $1.05. 21 cents x 5 = 105 cents = $1.05.

4. 300 feet. 20 feet in 1/5 seconds becomes 100 feet in one second (20 x 5 = 100.) So, 100 feet in one second is 300 in three (100 x 3 = 300.)

5. 6 feet. 10 cents a foot, 20 cents for 2 feet, 30 cents for 3 feet, etc.

6. 17. We want to maximize the smaller-type pages because using the larger type would use too many pages. So, try using all small type. That would be 2,400 words x 21 pages = 50,400 words, which would leave too much white space. Because the LCD between 1,800 and 2,400 is 7,200, take out 4 pages for use of the larger type (1,800 x 4 = 7,200). That leaves 17 smaller-type pages; 17 x 2,400 = 40,800. Add 7,200 to that (from the larger type) and you get 48,000 words. Hardest question on this test.

7. March. March and September have equal amounts of sunlight and darkness on the 21st of each month.

8. H. Replace A with 1, B with 2, C with 3, etc. Multiply the first column by the second column to get the third. D = 4 and B = 2, so 4×2= 8. The eighth letter of the alphabet is H.

9. August. The Southern Hemisphere is opposite of the Northern, so our summer is their winter. August is the only month listed remotely close to our summer.

10. Have similar meanings. Flammable and inflammable mean the exact same thing.

So, are you as smart as an NFL quarterback? A little tougher than you thought, huh? You can head to the Walter Football site to take the full Wonderlic test and figure out your score. Oh c’mon you, aren’t you just a little bit curious whether you’re dumber than Vince Young? Bottom line: Whether you beat Young or Tebow’s score, there’s still a really good chance you can’t throw a ball as far as they can so it’s still a wonder why the Wonderlic matters. If you ask me, these players ought to tell the NFL to “Wonderlic deez!”

Sabrina Coleman, the wife of Atlanta Falcons safety Erik Coleman, has “America’s Sweetheart” written all over her. But get her in a gym and she’s got the kind of fierceness and intensity that would make you think twice about cutting her off on the freeway. The brunette beauty instantly goes from Supermodel to Superwoman.

Coleman, who is a new mom, is currently training to compete for Ms. Bikini Georgia. Her workout routine nearly rivals what her football player husband goes through to stay in shape for the NFL. So, as you might imagine, her body is sick. No, not “a boob job and 3 nip tucks later” fit. I’m talking a living, breathing She-Ra.

While Coleman may have a hard body, she’s got a soft spot for the plight facing fellow moms: how does one find the time to
stay in shape? She’s hoping a state title will give her the platform she needs to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices for women, especially those juggling a busy lifestyle, and easy ways to get fit on the go.

I recently caught up with Coleman before one of her exhausting training sessions (that’s right, I got tired just watching) to find out more about this wife and mom on a mission!

From now through draft day, as part of our “Chicks on the Clock” get fit initiative, we’ll be sharing workout moves and fitness tips from Sabrina and her trainer. We’ll also tell you how she made out in her big bikini battle in Georgia. That’s right Sabrina…if your hubby can’t bring home the championship trophy, just get one yourself!

Here we are again, huh Steeler fans? Ben Roethlisberger is once again accused of getting caught up in some drama that not only is an embarrassment to the quarterback but to his fans and the Pittsburgh Steelers organization as a whole.

Roethlisberger is at the center of yet another sexual assault allegation. This time, the accuser is a woman in Georgia. Unlike the previous allegation in Lake Tahoe, where the alleged victim waited two years before she said anything, this woman went to the police the next day and got examined at a hospital.

Roethlisberger has since hired the same high powered attorney that represented Ray Lewis in his murder case. Sounds like serious business.

At some point if you are a star athlete, when do you learn? When do you learn that you just can’t live the life of a “regular guy”? Going to clubs and hanging out with any old body comes with a price.

Even if you’re guilty of nothing more than wanting to have fun, constantly putting yourself out there makes you that much more susceptible to coming across people who want to either hate on your money and fame, or grab a piece of your pie.

Or is it Roethlisberger who keeps trying to grab a piece of something? He was fortunate to escape the rape allegations last year basically because that accuser admitted to her friends that she intended to have the quarterback’s love child and use it to get some of his money as well. When you dodge a bullet like that, why not stay off the scene? After all, this is the same guy who almost died in a motorcycle accident four years ago. GO SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE, BEN!!

At some point, you gotta think the Steelers will say enough is enough. I mean for goodness sake, what team does he think this is…the Bengals? One must wonder when will the Steelers step in and tell him to either straighten up and fly right, or hit the bricks.

Look, I know Roethlisberger is a young man enjoying the single life as he should, but he’s got to make smarter choices. It’s all about the company you keep. His team didn’t make the playoffs last season. Can you imagine what kind of impact this will have if these accusations actually lead to charges?

This is just a sad situation all around. Big Ben is no doubt on the fast track to becoming a big joke. Makes you wonder if the Steelers need to start thinking about replacing their starting quarterback.

Oh star athletes…when will you ever learn?

Ok, before I get started I just wanted to say to Tony Romo and Romo fans like myself, I love Tony don’t get me wrong but, wouldn’t Tim Tebow make the perfect Dallas Cowboy?

I mean seriously, Tebow being a Cowboy would fit him to a T.

*First of all, he would make a good back-up quarterback- The Cowboys need a decent back-up. As we have seen over the years, when Tony leaves the game, we are in trouble. Also, he can learn behind a Pro-Baller and he’d be perfect for the Wild Cat, Wild Hog, whatever the hell they are calling it these days.

*He is the All-American boy- I mean seriously, look at the kid. He is a college-football All-American, Heisman Trophy winner, has won a National Championship, a Christian and um by the way, he is HOT. Does that not SCREAM America’s Team?

*He would look good in the uniform- Have you seen Tebow’s body? If you haven’t, look up last year’s cover story he did for GQ Magazine. The man has the body of an adios; reminds me of Troy Aikman when he first arrived. Ok, now that you have looked, wouldn’t he look perfect in that silver and blue uniform?

Besides that, the kid is good football player and a hell of a competitor and who wouldn’t want that on their team; the perfect player for America’s Team.
