So...Yuna's latest album has hit the market. By album, I mean an EP. Specifically, the Sixth Street EP.

As usual, the song that I found myself listening to the most out of the 5-tracks EP is not the first single (which is I Wanna Go, produced by Mike Einziger of Incubus tu). Instead, it is the second track that is called Right Again.

Right Again by Yuna on Deezer

Right Again by Yuna on Spotify

This time around, I can’t really explain the reason why I kept on looping the song for the past few days. Maybe because of the lyrics in the song. Maybe because of the song’s laid-back melody accompanied by Yuna’s sort-of-spacey vocal. Maybe it is the mood in the air.

Well, I guess there are times when you really like something without any reason. You just...like it.

Bila Fanboy Apple iOS dan Samsung Android Bergaduh: Pengguna Nokia Windows Phone Tepuk Tangan

Frankly speaking, I hate politics. A necessary evil, they said but from my observations...what politics do most of the time is breaking up harmony and destroying friendship regardless of the scale.

This classic track from Coldplay echoed loudly in my mind throughout the recent election season. Especially this particular part of the song:

"In confusion, confidence
Give me peace of mind and trust
Don't forget the rest of us
Give me strength; reserve control
Give me heart and give me soul
Wounds that heal and cracks that fix."

Regardless of what happened or which side your supported during the recent election (one of the most hotly contested, if not the hottest), open up your eyes. There are a lot of lessons need to be learned (and relearned) from it, for the betterment of our beloved Malaysia.

So, Paramore released their fourth album (a self-titled one as well) earlier this month. While the band chose to put out Now and Still Into You as the main singles from their new album, I personally feels that there are stronger songs in the album such this particular track: Ain't It Fun.

Got to say that the reason why I'm so fond of this song is its groovy melody and the feel good-like vibe. That being said, the lyrics are rather typical of Paramore though.

"So what are you gonna do when the world don’t orbit around you?". Hmmm.

Daft Punk haven’t come out with a studio album for quite some time, so it is obvious that Get Lucky – the first single from their upcoming new album, Random Access Memories - has generated a lot of buzz. IMHO, the French electronic duo worked their magic very well once again as this track certainly didn't disappoint me.

Working together with two other legends in their own right - Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes/N.E.R.D and Nile Rodgers of Chic – Get Lucky to me is unlike any previous releases by the duo as it has more R&B and funk feel rather than electronic music. Meanwhile, I’m very curious about the music video for this song since the little teaser that they showed prior to the single’s release looks just as funky as the song that it represents.

By the way, do you know that the video above is actually animated despite giving the impression that it is just an audio-only video? Just wait for it and you might be surprised....

Whether you are a veteran or a beginner, it is not hard to miss the tales of Boston Marathon - the oldest annual marathon in the world. Especially the part where you first need to set a good finish time in other certified marathons that is within Boston Marathon’s qualifying times before you can actually register for the event.

Because of that, many runners has made Boston Marathon as one of their life goals including yours truly. I might not even run beyond my usual 10K races and slacking in my training but Boston is definitely one of the great marathons that I aimed to run at some point of my life.

Truth to be told, the bomb attacks at the event few days ago left me rather speechless: why would someone attack a marathon? Runners are generally peaceful bunch of people who many are advocates of healthy lifestyle which in hand is among the last people on earth that you can associated with violence.

The incident also made me a little bit shaken since I then realized that such attack could happen at any given running event throughout the world, be it a small community event or a large scale national fest. Running events is supposed to be about achievement, triumph and happiness.

Not about sadness, confusion, fear and death. =/

I seriously have no idea why this song stuck on my mind for the past week or so. While this song being one of the most well-known Bond theme of all and I'm a huge fan of James Bond movies but I'm not a fan of this song as a Bond theme. I prefer the usual R&B or ballad-like theme rather than a pop song.

Nevertheless, it is still a Duran Duran classic. That fact alone deserved a respect, lol. xD

Meanwhile, if you have any songs or artists that you would like me to check out, I'm just a tweet away at twitter.com/chapree. :D

JOM KITA LAYAAAAAAAAAAAN. :D *mukatroll.jpg*

This information might have reached sneakerheads and hypebeasts out there but in case you missed the notice or a fan of basketball especially if you are a Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan, there is a special Kobe 8 System coming to Malaysia on March 29 (that’s tomorrow!).

Three months ago, I finally bought myself a bike after 3 - 4 years of taking public transportation which started when my then 7-years-old scooter broke down for the nth time and I decided not to bother about repairing it anymore. The bike that I choose is a KTM. Specifically, a KTM Duke 200.

To some, KTM Duke 200 is not exactly a pure KTM breed as it was developed through a collaboration between KTM and an Indian company called Bajaj which eventually led to Duke 200 being manufactured in Bajaj’s factory. I don’t actually give a flying damn about that though – to me, the KTM Duke 200 is still as orange as those fully made in Austria.

Try ride the damn thing if you get the chance and you’ll feel it yourself too. Nope, you can’t ride my bike. Not a chance. :p

Oh right, melalut pulak gua. About this short video feature...well, I love checking out how cars/bike/stuff are made which is why I was so delighted when I saw this video. Furthermore, it is about KTM, so...hehehe. :D

The limited edition KTM 250 SX-F Ken Roczen bike.

Produced by the folks at Red Bull (which is also an Austrian company just like KTM), it focuses on KTM’s motocross bikes which I guess because the company is well known for those bikes. Nevertheless, I believe all the things that the KTM folks talked in the video applies to all types of bikes (and car- yeah, the outfit actually made a car called X-Bow) that KTM manufactured there.

This feature is too short though and didn’t touch on other type of bikes that KTM has. It is a nicely produced video though, so yeah...

On another hand, KTM’s own blog has posted several awesome behind-the-scenes feature of their own as well which covers several areas such as its engine plant, KTM RC250R racing bike and Red Bull KTM Ajo Factory Team’s 2013 RC250GP Moto3 bike. Do check it out if you love bikes and motorsports, in general.

Me and my KTM Duke 200. :D

By the way, do excuse me if this sounds so cheesy and syok sendiri but…damn, I love my KTM Duke 200. *megustaface.jpg*

[Music Monday] Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N' Roses, Live at 2013 Formula One Petronas Malaysia GP

While the show might not be featuring the band's original line-up apart from Axl, I still immensely enjoyed the post-race concert by Guns N' Roses at Sepang International Circuit during the 2013 Formula One Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix. At the very least, I finally got see the band performed all my favorite GnR songs such as this one below:

After a whole day at the circuit, my Nokia Lumia 920's battery was almost flat out and Welcome To The Jungle was the only song that I managed to capture last night. If you felt that Axl's voice doesn't have much ummpph in this song, I can't blame you as I felt the same way too. That being said, this song was played quite early in the band's 2-hours set and to me, Axl's voice gradually improved as the show goes by.

I wonder who will the Malaysian GP folks bring to KL for next year's race. Can we have Metallica or Foo Fighters plz? :D

[Free Stuff] Last Call To Win Red Bull Racing Merch & Malaysian F1 Grandstand Tickets From Red Bull and Lowyat.NET

It sounds like I’m the last one who heard the news (I somehow missed the notice on LYN's sister site Hype.my) but yeah, apparently there will be a screening of Dave Grohl’s Sound City at 9PM tomorrow, March 18 at The Bee in Publika. AWWW YISSS~

Some of you might have already know that I already watched Sound City before as I bought the digital version of the movie from its official website right on its premier night last month but I’m still excited for the screening and if weather permits, I’m so going to be there to watch it.

Doesn't matter if this is the n-th I’m watching the move (heck, I go the documentary inside my own Nokia Lumia 920 – I kinda used the documentary to test sound output on review devices these days) but it’s Sound City weh! Plus, it costs only RM 10 and the proceeds will be passed to charity. I don't fancy going to Publika even though I’ve my own transportation now but this is definitely a must-attend occasion.

So, who’s with me? In case you need more consideration, check out my review of Sound City right here and I’ll see you tomorrow at The Bee! :D

“You can’t fix this, you lost a friend,
Hearts breaking, right and left,
Friendships break like glass...and the devil pours another glass.”

I don’t actually know why I like this song. Is it the lyrics? Is it the music by Dave Grohl and the gang? Is it the infectious vocals by Stevie Nicks? Maybe because I love Sound City so much?

Well, it could be all the reason above. But if there’s one thing really true about those lyrics is that never dance with the devil. He will surely burn you down.

Brazil is not the only national team that has receive a new kit from Nike Football recently as just few days ago the company has unveiled the new away kit for the French national football team. Built with the same environmental-friendly method and material as well as performance features like the Brazilian kit, the new French away kit seems to be quite a departure from last year’s kit that the team wore in Euro 2012.

First off, the 2013 kit is in pale blue instead of 2012’s white. In addition to that, there’s also the signature tricolore detailing of red, white and blue on its sleeve. That being said, Nike Football has still maintain the long-time “Nos differences nous unissent” (“Our differences unite us”) motto inside the 2013 away kit.

Coupled together with shorts and socks that are also draped in the same pale blue and tricolore detailing, the new 2013 French football away jersey will made its first official appearance by the French women’s team in a match against Brazil on March 9 while the men’s team will be wearing it on March 22 for the match against Georgia.

Used for the first time in a friendly match against England earlier
this month, the Brazil national football team is now decked in yet another new
home jersey by Nike Football. Draped in the team’s signature yellow and green
color scheme, the new kit somehow reminded me of classic football jerseys especially
its collar design as well as its minimalism nature.

Nevertheless, it is still a modern jersey after all with the inclusion
of features such as laser venting, bonded seams, hemline vents and Dri-FIT
technology in order to provide performance benefits for modern football
players. As usual, the jersey is matched together with a blue shorts, and white
socks with green trim.

Just like our own Harimau Malaya's jersey, the new Brazil’s home jersey’s
fabric is 23 percent lighter with 20 percent stronger knit structure than
Nike’s previous kits. Not to forget, both of the kit’s jersey and shorts are
also made from up to 100-percent recycled polyester with an average of 13
recycled plastic bottle for each set of jersey and shorts.

So, Kuala Lumpur is going to receive the Nike x Undefeated “Bring Back Pack” eh? That is rather unexpected. Nevertheless, listen up sneakers connoisseurs out there…expect massive crowd as Juice KL in Bangsar is the only retailer in Southeast Asia that has receive the honor to unleash the pack to the masses.

Just like many of Nike’s releases out there, there is indeed a story behind this pack. Apparently, Nike has presented 48 pairs of white-on-white-on-gum Nike Dunks to the folks at Undefeated as an act of good faith during the opening of the first Undefeated store in 2002. The Dunks were never released into the market…until now, like eleven years later.

Made of a Nike Dunk and Hyperdunk (both in the said white-on-white-on-gum colorway, with Undefeated’s iconic 5 strikes logo on it), the pack will be released at the outlet on this coming Friday, 1 March 2013 at noon. No pricing was mentioned for either of them though.

Nevertheless, have fun and good luck on copping them up!

It is not every day that you get to meet and race a Top Gear’s host. Ok, he might not be Clarkson, May or Hammond from Top Gear UK but nevertheless, Yeon Jung-hoon is still a host for Top Gear. Top Gear Korea, that is.

It took place at the media launch event for the premier of Top Gear Korea’s season 2 on KIX HD last month in which the host and actor flew all the way from South Korea to attend. I really didn't expect anything much because my assignment of the day was to learn what KIX HD has in store for Top Gear Korea season 2.

Little I know that it actually led me to a Gran Turismo 5 showdown with Yeon Jung-hoon, thanks to my lap time (the fastest among other attendees – didn’t expect that, really) during their little lap time challenge. While I was told that fastest lap would win a prize from KIX HD but I seriously have no idea that it would involves head-to-head racing against Yeong Jung-hoon.

Furthermore, we raced on Top Gear UK’s test track, how cool is that. :D In the end, I did (comfortably, hehehehe) won the race although I did spin my car once at some point during the race. Sorry Mr. Jung-hoon, you might get to drive fast cars in Top Gear Korea but...I’m better in video games, it seems. xD

For that, I received a brand new Panasonic Lumix FH8 digital camera. Yay for me and thanks KIX HD, that was a great fun. :3

When the Nike Flyknit tech was introduced to the world last February, it spawned two shoes: the Nike Flyknit Trainer+ and the Nike Flyknit Racer. Unfortunately, both of these shoes are not (yet) available in Malaysia; however, the newer Nike Flyknit Lunar1+ is now readily available in Malaysia.

Being the third shoe in Nike’s Flyknit family, the new Nike Flyknit Lunar1+ is a combination of Flyknit one-piece lightweight upper - which is designed to provide exceptional sock-like fit – and a plush, responsive Lunarlon-based midsole. Compared to the more hardcore Trainer+ and Racer, the Lunar+ 1 has more cushion and is clearly made to cater the needs of everyday runners.

Close-up of Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+ upper.

In Nike Football’s line of boots, the Mercurial series is generally designed for speed which is quite apparent through its general design philosophy that paid a lot of attention to lightweight structure and ground traction (remember the Nike SENSE dynamic extendable studs on Mercurial Superfly II?). That being said, it seems to me that Nike decides to pay some attention on a different element for the new Mercurial Vapor IX boots: control.

The reason why I said that is due to two features that Nike has included into the Mercurial Vapor IX: the new Speed Control texture on its upper as well as the boot’s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology.

Close-up of Speed Control texture on Nike Mercurial Vapor IX football boot.

According to the company, the Speed Control texture – which in my opinion, made the boot’s upper looks like snake skin - provides enhanced traction to its wearer. Meanwhile, the ACC all-weather layer is there to ensure no change in traction level regardless in wet or dry condition.

However, this is not the first time ACC tech appeared in Mercurial boots as Nike has applied the tech on Mercurial Vapor XIII when the company refreshes all its football line with the all-weather layer few months ago.

Summary of Nike Mercurial Vapor IX features. Click to enlarge in a new window.

Those new elements seemed to have no effect on Mercurial Vapor IX weight as it still have the same weight as the Mercurial Vapor XIII at around 187 grams. Nike’s tradition of offering striking colors for its football boots also continues with Mercurial Vapor IX through Fireberry and Sunset colorways.

As usual, the new boot has made its way to numerous professional footballers out there including Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Portugal who has been a long-time Mercurial wearer and it is still the same case for the new Mercurial Vapor IX.

Everyone knows Abbey Road, right? You know…that recording studio in UK that is greatly associated with The Beatles? The one with that zebra crossing? But how about Sound City? Have you heard of it?

I bet most of you never of the establishment. I’m guilty of that too – despite the fact I grew up to the sound of Nirvana’s Nevermind which was recorded in that very studio. Nirvana was not the only one though as there were tons of other great artists have recorded their materials there such as...

...Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot, Weezer, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queens of The Stone Age, Trent Reznor, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Rick Springfield, Barry Manilow, Dio...my god, the list juts goes on and on and on...

How I eventually found out about Sound City? Well, few months ago I heard about this documentary that Foo Fighters’ frontman (and also the drummer of Nirvana), Dave Grohl is working on that aims to tell the story of the legendary studio with the help of the artists, producers and staff that have worked in the studio as well as great music that came out from Sound City.

Marking the debut of Dave Grohl as a film director, Sound City premiered yesterday in theatres as well as in the form of digital download through its official website. Priced at around RM 41 (USD 12.99), I decided to purchase the documentary and here is what I thought of it...

Sound City is nothing short of inspiring and informative, frankly speaking.

Thanks to tons of artists that appeared in the documentary, there were just so much tales of music in this documentary - not only about the unique working condition in the studio but also relationship between one musicians to another as well as music creation, in general.

Sound City also touched on the analogue vs. digital side of the business which revolved around the studio’s legendary Neve 8028 console (that now resides that Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 after he purchased it just before the studio closed down) as well as the very demise of the studio due to the rise of digital-based recording equipment.

The documentary certainly focused more on the analogue approach to music recording – the Neve 8028 is an analogue console, after all - to the extent that I felt that certain parts of the documentary were quite anti-digital. Then again, Sound City also featured Trent Reznor which speaks about his experience with creating music using digital tools while still having a huge regard for analogue stuff.

To top it all, there was the Sound City Players - a musical collaboration that features some of artists that appeared in the documentary...plus this guy: Sir Paul McCartney. Yup, that Sir Paul McCartney from The Beatles. Furthermore, guess who's his collaboration partners for Sound City Players?

Dave Grohl (of course), Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear - the closest thing that this world ever get to the reunion of Nirvana. Of course, Krist actually worked with Dave and Pat before in I Should Have Known for Foo’s Wasting Light album but man, when you put McCartney in the mix...my mind just explode.

Similar to what I thought of Foo Fighters’ Back of Forth, the Sound City is one of those documentary that would make a rock star out of somebody. I just wish that the interviews as well as the recording process of Sound City Players were shown in their entirety but then again, that would make the movie too long.

Truly inspiring - worth every single cent out of my RM 41 that I paid for it.

Sound City is available as digital download through www.soundcitymovie.com for around RM 41 (USD 12.99) or through iTunes.

[Running] – Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 Officially Dated, Registration Starts At The End of January

We are only 18 days into 2013 but looks like the marketing engine for the country’s premier running event - Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM) - has been turned on. Yesterday, SCKLM has officially announced that 30 June 2013 is the official date for this year’s event via its official Facebook page.

Furthermore, SCKLM’s official website has been taken over by a clock that is ticking down to the first day of SCKLM’s registration which (by my calculation) should take place sometime at the end of this month. Interesting...

The SCKLM is going to be the most important event for me this year as I’ve already aim to obtain a sub-60 minutes finish time in the event’s 10km category. As some of you might know, I will step up to half-marathon only and only if I manage to achieve that target exclusively at SCKLM. Yup, only there.

With around one month to go before I kicked off my 2013 season (cewah, sounds like pro jer) starting with the Safari Zoo Run 2013 12km in Singapore, the SCKLM’13 news makes me even more excited to train…starting this weekend. :D

[Running] Nike We Run 2012 Southeast Asia Adventures - Stop 1: Snapshots from Kuala Lumpur Pt.1

My Nike We Run 2012 adventures begun right here in Kuala Lumpur for a very simple reason: it is the first one in the series for Southeast Asia. I would say that the 2012 edition is the most unique We Run KL that I’ve participated since the first one in 2010 because it takes place in early evening as opposed to early morning as per previous editions.

It is also the biggest We Run KL so far with 15,000 participants ceiling limit - which were all gone within 5 hours and 7 minutes after Nike opened up the registration process. Out of those 15000, 12000 - still a massive number - of them actually made it to the starting line on 13 October 2012.

Aight, enough chit-chat, time for them photos! Click on the link below to start.

My Nike We Run KL 2012’s race day journey starts here: RapidKL Kelana Jaya station. As you can see, plenty of fellow runners chose to take LRT which I believe due to the fact that both the start and finish line are within the vicinity of LRT stations.

KLCC station - one of the closest station to the start line - was pretty much filled with Nike We Run KL runners.

Oh lookie, free PowerBars!

As I was heading to the start line in front of Malaysia Tourist Centre...

,...and boom, this view welcomed me. Just check out that massive crowd - a clear sign on how huge is running in Malaysia.

Since I arrived quite late to the starting area, I encountered some problem with my baggage since the event’s baggage deposit system was kind of a huge mess (will explain more later). Fortunately, a friend managed to locate me in the queue and was really kind to take care of the bag while I’m running.

For Nike We Run KL 2012, I don’t have any target time or any intention to break my personal best. Instead, I’m there to pace two of my colleagues – LYN’s editor, Lucas and our junior writer, Pang – both are first time runners.

Then, come the moment that all runners have been waiting for. Right at 530pm, the flag off begins!

There are still more to come, so stay tuned for the second part of my day (with my colleagues) over at Nike We Run KL 2012!
