Trunk or Treat has always been a great idea. But how about something like thegiftrevolution.com it's an amazing idea and it's crossed the globe in over 30 countries in just 2 weeks!

That is great news! God is working with you. Good thing is that you have the "circle Leaders" already (Praise God) that is the hard one. Take some time to re-focus. Ask the Holy Spirit to clear up your mind and thank God for your volunteers. Look at the curriculum you are using, not because is great or had work for someone else, it means that it is the right one for your CM. We use Gospel light curriculums from year 2000. We begin with family dinner at 6:00 (we have a cook & team for each Wed)At 6:15pm we welcome everyone, make announcements and pray. At 6:25pm I announced that the teachers are ready waiting at the doors. I call younger class first. About the Gym-make sure you have someone at the door to redirect the kids to the right area. Don't feel bad if you hear that some kids are not coming back because of the gym. It happened to me and you know what? they came back after a little while. Have dinner or breakfast at church with your volunteers. Bring up the situation and ask them for possible solutions. They are the best one to help you change the environment at your church. Many Blessings. In Him, Laura

Our church is experiencing a huge time of growth (praise God!). We just completed an addition to our building, adding a gym and several classrooms. We also just finished our first VBS program in three years. Our midweek attendance has jumped from 14 each week to 32 each week within the last month. As the director, I'm having trouble figuring out how to gather up all the kids, direct them to the appropriate classrooms, have good quality lessons, etc. We have them broken up into 4 groups (by age) and each group has a "Circle Leader" already, but still the chaos ensues. The kids love the gym and are relunctant to leave as we start the night. Any suggestions? Every week seems like chaos, and I don't want our leaders to get burnt out.

Thanks!!

Jason,
Great insight! I wish I had these insights years ago when I transitioned between churches, it would have made life way easier.
"Start by building relationships" is key. Not only amongst the church staff but certainly with the children's ministry leadership and key parents.
"Ask questions" also is vital. I've seen it a number of times, a confident staff member joins a staff and doesn't want to show any weakness so they don't ask questions. I feel asking questions show a willingness to learn and understand.
"Put testimonies is writing" is another insight worth 10 x's it's weight. For years I've had people email me their great ministry stories and we've then recycled them throughout newsletter, encouraging emails and orientation meetings.
"Find a mentor and Be a mentor" awesome! Brings great accountability and passes on wisdom and knowledge God has given to those He puts in our path.
Thanks Jason for all the great insight!
