As the base for my wrapping paper I used plain brown kraft paper – available in huge rolls and the perfect neutral backdrop.

step 1 – select the colour of PoP Paint you want to use. Signal and Sprout is perfect for the festive season.

step 2 – Use a soft medium sized flat paintbrush and paint random streaks onto the paper alternating the colours.
Leave the paint t dry, while working on other sheets. This way you can mass produce a few sheets at a time.

step 3 – Once the paint is dry, use a black marker to draw onto the background – a great way to get the kids involved. They can make their own personal wrapping paper for family and friends with a little help from an adult. Or use your stamps and stamp with black ink onto the background randomly overlapping the paint streaks like I did.

Now you are ready to wrap all those special gifts for your loved ones. Add a simple bit of twine or ribbon and a few extra bits of decorations and you will have some special gifts to place under the tree this year.

The fun doesn’t stop there – you can make your own special gift tags to match your paper using the same paint colours.

With Christmas just around the corner, you still have enough time to create your own beautiful papers. So get cracking.
Ask your local craft store for your favourite POP Paint colours.

step 1 – I selected POP Paint Skyfall for my project.
*My curtains are cotton mutton cloth so took the colour really well.
**For the sxs I used a cotton serviette  – cotton colours really well using POP Paint.
*For this project and sxs I am simplifying the process of dying my curtains with a smaller piece of fabric.

step 2 – Dissolve the paint into a 5L bucket. I used a 190ml jar of Skyfall dissolved into 5 Litres of luke warm water.

step 3 – Soak the bottom of your curtains into the dissolved paint bucket up to the line where you want the colour to end.
I went about halfway for 4 minutes.
Pull up the curtains about 25cm and soak for about 10 minutes in the paint.
Pull up the curtains again as far as you want and then soak in the colour for about 20 minutes.

step 4 – Remove the curtains from the bucket and wring out well to remove all water.
Hang your curtains on a washing line to drip dry.
Then tumble dry them to heat set the colour.

The colour at the top ended up being light, then faded to the bottom to a dark blue.
So the longer I left my fabric to soak the darker the colours ended up being.
I had a nice uneven line because i soaked them unevenly – the look is informal and fun.

I have washed them once so far and the colour has held up great.

With the Festive Season fast approaching its time to get some creative projects going.
I have these cute little plastic planters that needed some love – and it turns out that they are actually really pretty when they are dressed up
in a festive coat of Pop Paint.

I naturally selected my favourite Christmas colours in the POP Paint range to work with.

Gathered all my supplies – by the way these cheap planters can be stunning even for outdoor use painted in your favourite colour.

step 1 – Start by painting the top rim, inside and outside with a layer of Signal red Pop paint. Leave to dry.

step 2 – Once the red is dry, dry brush a layer of Sprout and Lush below the red.

step 3 – Once these layers of paint has dried, use a soft lint free cloth and wipe some more Sprout paint over the bottom of the pot.

step 4 – Touch up with Lush paint and then seal with clear and dark wax. Lightly buff the pot to a shine.

Place a topiary ball on top and add some red berries to make a festive topiary.

Turning a R5.00 plastic planter into something special that looks good enough to flaunt in your festive decor this year.

step 1 – Stamp a Christmas tree image onto a card panel using green.

step 2 – Stamp an extra tree onto a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it out to create a mask. Place the mask tree over the original
tree using some low tack adhesive to only keep it in place temporarily.

step 3 – Ink your 715 stamp from your stamp set using brown ink and stamp over the masked tree.
Remove the masked tree – see how the green tree that you stamped first is still perfect, but now it has a gorgeous background all around it.

step 4 – Stamp a sentiment from your stamp set in red ink onto a strip of white cardstock. Note how I only inked and stamped the celebrate
portion of the ‘celebrate this life’ stamp – making it even more versatile.

step 5 – Stamp extra Christmas trees and gather some festive embellishments to use on your card, then assemble everything.
Adhere the panel to a folded card and there you have a gorgeous card using some of the really versatile stamps sets from Chiswick.

A handy storage unit for keeping boxes of stuff I use often and not so often. But ugly and just sad. Until I got the guts to paint her.

I chose to go with my all time favourite Urban shade of POP Paint. It looks really blue/black in my house that is quite dark, and with the bright light shining in from the window and door.
And the colour keeps on changing as the light changes which makes it a really interesting piece.
And please ignore the ugly painted floors – that I need to pluck up the courage to paint too. But that means evacuating all floor space
which at this point in time just seems impossible. But maybe one day…soon.

As for this ugly duckling – she has gone from confused teenager to elegant adult in one day. So much more grown up wouldn’t you say?

I am still figuring out what I am storing on the shelves now. But in the meantime I have a navy box with 6×6 paper pads in, an empty bread bin, which I cleared out and purged the stuff inside.
A laundry powder tin with book binding rings in, and the small white tins – empty for now.

I am loving the clean and neat elegant look for now. What this exercise has taught me is that I am ready to purge, live simply and have beautiful painted furniture
rather than rebellious bright and bold pieces. And that I love this colour of paint even more than before.

I love how this piece turned out – painted in 2 solid layers of paint, sanded lightly and then sealed with the clear wax painted on.
I left the piece to cure for at least 24 hours before adding back the boxes and the styled elements.
TIP: Always remember that paint may be dry to the touch, but not fully cured. It needs to be cured to be strong and permanent.

What have you painted lately with POP Paint?
Make it POP with the amazing range of colours. Visit your closest craft and paint store.

I used some left-over paint on a canvas and then swiped it using a large palette – something a little different.
What I liked about the canvas was the texture and the finish wasn’t bad at all once it was dry.

step 1 – choose at least 3-5 colours of paint you want to work with. My colours included Sky, Provence, Buttery and Haze.

step 2 – Create the mixture to make the paint more liquidy to pour.
Here’s how…
Mix 2 parts of paint, 2 parts of pouring medium, 10ml of water.
TIP: Because POP Paint is so thick I added a bit more water to get the right consistency.

step 3 – In a large cup add about 2cm of white paint mixed with pouring medium in the bottom of the cut.
Then add half of each of your colours, one at a time, pouring the paint into the white from high above.
Add some more white, and then add the remainder of your colours.

step 4 – Add more white onto your canvas. The same mixture with the pouring medium and white paint.
TIP: you can choose to prime your canvas before – I just left mine natural.
These wooden canvassses are great for pouring paint.

step 5 – Use a palette knife and spread out the paint to an even layer.

step 6 – Flip the canvas over onto the cup. Hold the canvas tightly and the cup, and then flip it over so that the cup sits onto the canvas.
Leave it for a few seconds.

step 7 – Carefully lift the cup to break the air seal and let the paint start flowing.
Drag the cup into the opposite direction and tap off any paint left in the cup on an open section of the canvas.

step 8 – Tilt the paint in all directions to cover the entire canvas surface.
Be careful not to tilt too much in one direction, and then always tilt it back into the original direction.
This will prevent you disturbing the original pattern and poured effect too much.

step 9 – Leave the canvas on a cup on a tray for excess paint drips.
You can even scoop up some of the paint drips using your palette knife and let that drip onto the sides of your canvas.

Once you are happy with the look leave the paint to dry at least 24 hours minimum.
For this canvas I am going to add a resin layer that will finish it off beautifully.

TIPS:
The wet paint will always be shiny, and once dry it becomes matt. A clear resin layer will give the paint a beautiful shiny look and finish.

Go on give it a try – paint pouring is so much fun and addictive.
And now you can use your favourite POP Paint colours to create matching art for your home.

I also opted not to distress the table too much but kept the look clean and elegant.

And I tink she looks really pretty in her POP Paint – bringing in a fresh and girly feel to an otherwise rustic french farmhouse feel.
I started off painting a thin even layer to cover most of the distressing and grey.

Even the inside of the drawers got a fresh coat.

Then I went back and added a second layer for a nice solid colour finish.

Always make sure that you clean out the holes where the handles need to go back in – I just use a skewer and poke the hole clean before leaving everything to dry.

And once the paint was dry a nice layer of clear wax was painted on and left to cure for at least 5 days before placing things on the surface.
Replace your handles and enjoy this quick and easy home decor transformation done in a  morning.

Even though i did not ant to distress and sand this piece, I like how the paint still shows the imperfections in the wood.
It speaks of furniture and life – lived well.

The thing is that POP paint is so effortless and easy to use – you simply need your favorite colour and a surface.

I used a medium sized flat paint brush and painted the surface, with a quick second coat where some of the white was still peaking through.
Anyone can do this – its that easy.

And once dry, a pretty bow will make him feel like a million dollars.

What have you transformed with your POP paint lately?
I used the amazing colour “Onyx” giving me that perfect black board look and finish I so love.

step 1 – Use Pearlsecent purple ink and stencil the first layer through the stencil design.

step 2 – Stencil Pearlescent blue next to the purple ink.

step 3 – Use Pearlescent green and stencil over the center where the two colours meet each other. Overlap onto the colours to create a smooth colour transition.

step 4 – Stamp the image from your stamp set over the center of the tag in black ink.

Decorate the tag using a coloured flamingo die-cut decorated with small micro beads and an additional stamped sentiment.
Punch a small hole and tie the tag onto a present as a quick alternative to a card.

step 2 – On your craft sheet add a small amount of texture paste and POP paint in Burst.


step 3 – Mix the paint and texture paste together to give you a nice thick consistency of coloured paste.

step 4 – Create a coloured background. I used a variety of paints and inks to create a colourful mixed media background.
Stencil a pattern on top of the coloured background using the orange texture paste mixture.

step 5 – Leave the paste to dry completely. Adhere the stenciled background piece to a folded card.
Stamp flowers onto white cardstock and use some of your watered down Burst paint to paint the flowers.
Adhere the flowers and sentiment to the card and finish off with sewing and a few diamante.

And a second version using some of my Haze paint combined with watercolour paint to create a purple flower.

And in a few minutes I created a couple of different cards using the same supplies – multitasking and creating a range of the same cards all at the same time really saves time and
you can build up quite a nice stash of cards ready to go at any moment.
