Just Frustrated

Today I made a mistake, a mistake that cost me $5711.58 as a matter of fact. I don’t think anyone should make such a mistake because when it disappears it’s really gone and when you can’t get it back the aftermath is devastating. 

However, I’ve learned a lesson with all this, I’m a people pleaser, so all of this stops right now , from now on my new favorite word is NO…and if they push HEEEELLLL NO!. I can’t care anymore, the more I care the more it’s costing me money and the more it’s costing me money the more I get angry. I shouldn’t get angry because it acts up on my health, and if my health is affected trust me none of the people giving me grief wouldn’t even show up at my funeral. 

Anyway this is just me rambling because growing up alone is hard and I hate it and I needed to vent a little. Sucks to be me right. Well I can hear the voice of my mom saying that hey suck it up, life isn’t fair anyway so we just have to play with the cards that we are dealt with.  

I have realized that the world is a jungle where you have to learn how to survive , kill or be killed, survival of the fittest. I know I’m totally giving a grim perspective of life but this is what I’ve seen in my environment, especially when life hasn’t shown me the kind of kindness that I thought existed. But hey you can’t have everything right.

Maybe meditation helps so I’m going to try that..

There are two things that I can say that I am truly proud of:
1) The one religion that was the catalyst of the slave revolution in Haiti, was finally told in a different light. Many a time we are told that Voodoo is associated with evil, yet that story was never told by those who actually lived it. The one race that has been controlling the narrative in the media around the world was never interested in the truth. However, to my surprise, maybe blame it on our era, we’ve become more open to questioning our history and existence in this world.

2) I mean it’s Marvel we’re talking about guys, the company that brought you The Avengers and Black Panther…They included my country! While doing more research, though stereotypical, they’ve created a Haitian Superhero named Brother Voodoo. but that’s a story for another time.

The show that I’m referring to is Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger. 2 Teenagers on opposite side of the spectrum yet working together towards a greater cause.

Their story:
Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul. Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life, and when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid.  – Source Freeform.com

The story is riveting! The 3 latest episodes included the Haitian culture in its purest form, from the songs, the dances, the religious practices, I couldn’t contain myself when I understood everything they were referring to. Although I have to criticize them just a little there…um…what happened to hiring real Haitian to speak creole though…a bit more focus on authenticity would have made me give them 5 stars, but Marvel, you got lazy on this one.

So if you are a Marvel fan like me I definitely recommend watching this show. I was pretty excited about this, thank you for letting me share my thoughts!

I have decided to keep this on my personal blog because what I had to say was a bit lengthy and I don’t think your website has a button for reviews.

First and foremost it was a pleasure to attend your private screening, I’ve realized that the Haitian community will never stop producing talent and I hope we can be part of the mainstream film industry very soon.

What I have observed about the movie, the good side of it:

1- The plot is great, the writer definitely would pass as an indie film writer, the overall story made sense and married people all over the world can relate to the story.

2- Though the actors were not trained some of them truly have talent, Kako, Michelle and Jude are definitely on top of the list, they are truly believable and do not stutter or hesitate on their delivery. You can tell they truly have the experience and as a viewer I can immerse myself in their characters.

3-  The chosen locations for the shootings were perfect…I don’t even know what to say about that part, you guys truly did a great job on finding great locations.

Now for the part that needs work:

1- Too many unnecessary closeups, example when Juno and Vivian were on the boat some closeups were so close you didn’t realize that the hat was blocking some of Juno’s face at some point. that needs to be edited. You don’t have to be that close to their faces. Same issue when they were at Moca Cafe (I could totally tell it was Moca unless I’m wrong…LOL) They were at the bar talking, unnecessary closeups there as well. Closeups are meant to put emphasis on an emotion or a word a person is about to say but the whole conversation in closeups is a bit much

2- the story didn’t flow, it took me mid movie to understand the plot, At the beginning it would be better to introduce the characters, maybe by writing their names as they first enter frame or having Juno narrate since he is the principal of the movie. Also there needed to be transitions, for example after the therapy scene and the segway to “Juno’s friend” coming from the airport, I couldn’t understand why it was cut so fast to this “actor shooting a movie” I think the movie lacks narration, or at least to flow perhaps a key element to show the friendship of the guys perhaps as they were kids it would have been easier to understand why the dry cuts to certain characters like the lawyer and the actor.

3- The shank scene at he prison in the movie was unnecessary, it has no bearing and no meaning as these characters are irrelevant to the plot. Also how do you go from shanking a prisoner to cutting to a scene where he just walks out of prison?…something is missing there, nobody walks out of prison just like that. Especially after committing murder, how did he get out? that scene didn’t make sense.

4- When Juno had his argument at the table when they went on vacation, and coming back home, his wife is already cuddling him, there was no middle, there needed to be something that depicts why they were talking back to each other, how did they reconcile?  you can’t go from “ OMG you are a horrible husband and I’m leaving the end of the vacation with my friends instead of with you” to ” Hey baby what you said when we were on vacation didn’t exist and we should totally go on a date” there needs to be a middle.

5- The porn scene with Sadine and Jeremy was unnecessary, the edit of a closeup shot of the butt and breasts were unnecessary this scene needs to be re-edited. it looks too pornographic, there is a fine line between a porn and being sensual, when the emotions from the crowds depict disgust something is wrong with the scene. Edit it differently so that it looks sensual and not pornographic.

6- Please be mindful of the sound, some scenes where there was “upset yelling” was too loud compared to the normal conversation ratio. Also there is also a phone scene where the sound was too loud can’t remember which one it was between Sadine and another character.

7- Soften the skin or color correct the love scenes, too much cellulite showing. It takes away from the whole beauty of it. The Makeup artist could have adjusted that as well if it wasn’t possible via equipment, it’s called airbrushing. 

I know we love to hear how much of a great job everyone did, but I would rather tell the truth instead of sugar coating things. This movie has the potential to be at Sundance, but you need to make corrections before submitting it to any major film festivals. If your intentions are to leave it for the Haitian community then I’m sure the accolades will come plenty, but in order to go mainstream certain adjustments need to be made.  I overall give it a 3 star.

 Hopefully that helps and may you continue to create more art as you are raising  the bar for other film makers out there.

On that note I’ve also learned something new, substitute deodorant with lime. However, there is a deodorant I use that literally looks and feels like a rock. Paraben Free, not the best comfort, but it’s better than using the chemical engulfed monstrosities out there. We are becoming a little bit more health conscious these days, discovering that nature provided for us all this time. But human beings are never satisfied, that’s why we always find the need to invent stuff as long as it makes us feel good, but that’s a story for another time. 

I stumbled upon a video that got me thinking. Certain products WILL make us sick. There is no doubt about it. The minute I found out that deodorant and anti-perspirant was linked to breast cancer, I stopped using them immediately. Check out the video and let me know what you think: 

I’ve learned a lot this past year, and the year is not even over yet. I’m only in my 30’s and yet my soul feels 70. I shouldn’t have to feel that way not at this age, however life has taught me that the older we get the harder it will become. I’ve stopped blogging for a while because of the time that I was investing into my business. I should be happy, I should be rejoicing…but I’m not.

Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for every moment of my life so far, the good, the bad and the ugly. This year marks the 6th year anniversary of my business The CCWC Network Corp. Throughout these 6 years, I’ve created fashion shows, helped other women start their businesses, created a magazine, and even made some clients along the way. For the first time ever, I’ve received an award for OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP by Florida’s Top Models Inc. an award that means more than the awards that I’ve received from college or my 9 to 5.  And I have received some amazing awards for academics and top sales person out of 3 states. but Why doesn’t mean the same? Because it’s an award for my own creation. It means the world to be recognized by others for the good you do in the world.

These are all great achievements so why am I still unhappy, why when I smile, my tears are right there around the corner. Only Lord knows what I am enduring. I can only pray that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When God gives much blessings, the burden that follows will not be light at all.

I can only ask for strength to continue this journey .

#1 – Need to tell mom to stop feeding me. I mean she is the most giving person I know and the minute I step foot into her house it’s over. She’s already preparing a meal and is ready to feed you at all cost. Well I say Nay!…I love you mom but no more good Haitian food. I need to do this.

#2 – Doing a little bit every day. A 30 minute walk goes a long way so starting from today. I shall start my 3o minute walk and document it. I hate putting my life out there but if this is the only way I can keep myself accountable so be it. I did it before I can do it again.

#3- Be consistent. There is no doubt that you can see that I have a crazy life…let’s not get into it, I’m not looking for an excuse. However consistency is key. Just like blogging, writing, running a business. To achieve anything in life the key word is consistency. I did it in my business, why can’t I do it for my health.

Well this is it. More to come when I start. Here is to your health in 2017!

It is undeniable that I think of a lot of things during the day and one of those things is my magazine, my dream was about me being Luke Cage‘s best friend. I mean the actor that plays Luke Cage on Netflix, Mike Colter, was my best friend (in my dream that is). We took nice long walks together. Talked about life and how Hollywood was treating him. We laughed together, and he even consoled me. I mean I have no idea what we were talking about but the man was my best friend. At a certain moment I remember asking him if I could have him on the cover of my next issue. He agreed. I mean Mike Colter agreed to be on the cover of my magazine (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh) That was literally my reaction. I was so happy that I felt myself jumping and giving him the biggest hug expressing my happiness. Alas…it was just a dream. IT WAS JUST A DREAM….damn it!!

I mean look at the man. How can you not admire this dark chocolate brother?! Forget the fact that he has a wife for a second.

It even went on where I picked up the phone and called Joe Wesley (that’s how much I wanted the picture to be perfect) Joe is a real photographer, that I know who does amazing work and has been published in several magazines. You can imagine my excitement. Well that excitement woke me up. aaaaaarrgh.

Sometimes I think the Lord is a prankster. He puts these wonderful dreams in your head knowing that it would put a smile on your face and then poof!! gone! just like that!

Oh well, not sure what this dream meant but Luke Cage ….I mean Mike Colter …one day my friend , one day.
