AppShopper finally launched a native iPhone and iPad app that offers the same App tracking functionality as the full website.

AppShopper tracks all the major changes to the App store, including new apps, updates and sales. For example, with the right combination of filters you can find every app that has gone from Paid to Free. For a less overwhelming view, you can just view popular changes amongst other AppShopper readers.

You can then add apps to your own personal wishlist to get notified of sales or price changes. The app now lets you maintain that list on the go.

It's what we use to keep track of interesting game sales, and now you can monitor them on your iPhone or iPad.

There’s a reason Sony wants so badly to block jailbreak device’s access: now that the code for the things is out there, people were using everything from mobile phones to calculators to get at their PlayStation 3s.

In these videos, you’ll see variants of the PSGroove being run on the Nokia N900, a Palm Pre and, most awesome of all, a TI-84 Plus calculator.

Whether you’re pro or against the use of devices like this, you have to admit, it’s pretty neat seeing someone crack the armour of a PS3 with a calculator.

Update: Sony patches Jailbreak!

A another mandatory PS3 firmware update has just been released by Sony. The latest PS3 3.42 firmware comes just two months after the last issued by Sony and is thought to be a security patch to try and stop gamers jailbreaking their systems.

The PS3 firmware 3.42 doesn’t seem to add any functionality to your PS3 beyond the usual “system software stability,”. However the update is required if you want to continue accessing the PlayStation Network or the PlayStation Store.

The update maybe in response to the latest open source PS3 jailbreak tool that allows piracy on your PS3 system if desired, and maybe an attempt by Sony to disable this security hole in their system, but this has not been verified.

After ten years, San Francisco’s PlayStation Store closed. Fret not! In Japan, the PlayStation shopping experience lives on.

Japanese retailer Labi rolled out redone PlayStation sections for its Ikebukuro branch.

The PlayStation concept store provides customers with a throughly stylish and classy PS buying experience as evident by these photos.

Osaka’s Nipponbashi also has a PlayStation concept store as well.

Mac OS X and iOS: The lastest update of media center app Plex brings support for iOS devices. Here’s how to get Plex going on your HTPC and your mobile. First things first, Plex is media center for the Mac that’s based off of XBMC. The latest update brings hardware acceleration, better metadata, and iOS support. Before we get started, check out the video above for a quick overview of what Plex can do.

Setting Up Plex

To get started you’ll need need to get your copies of Plex for your Mac and for your iOS device(s). While Plex for Mac is a free download, Plex for iOS will set you back $5. The upside is that the iOS version works on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with no need to buy separate apps. Once you have everything downloaded we can get started.

When you launch Plex for the first time on your Mac, it’ll ask you to locate media. You can have it locate items on local and network drives and it’ll take care of the sorting for you. Once Plex has finished, it’ll let you know and you’re all set. Very simple.

Depending on how far you want to take it, setting up Plex for iOS can be pretty simple as well. If you’re not prompted with the settings panel the first time you open the app you can click on it on the right side. If you’re on your local network and you only want to stream to devices within it, just select a machine running Plex from the list and you’re pretty much finished. If you want to set up remote streaming, however, you have a little more work to do. The possible disadvantage of using Plex remote streaming instead of an iOS app like Air Video or StreamToMe is that you have to set up port forwarding on your router. Plex offers detailed instructions on setting up remote access.

If you do set up remote access, you’ll want to make sure video quality settings will work for you. Local network streaming provides the video at a respectable 2mbps. The remote default, however, is 768kbps. Depending on your upstream connection, this may be too high or not high enough. In many cases, you’ll want to change this setting.

Plex for iOS doesn’t need to be used for streaming, however. It can also be used as a remote for your desktop version of Plex. The remote has the standard button layout you might expect, but also has an option to use gestures instead of pushes to navigate through your media library.

When Apple released iTunes 10 last week, the newest version of the venerable media app sported not only a refined interface and the new Ping social network but a new application icon, as well.

For nearly a decade, every version of iTunes has used some variation of a CD and paired with an eighth note as its desktop icon. iTunes 10 dropped the CD, opting instead for a circle with a slight gradient with the music note emblazoned at the center.

Users are not impressed. The more displeased among us are taking their message to Twitter, Facebook and even Steve Jobs’ e-mail account, decrying what some consider to be a design abomination.

Here at Mashable, we’re more about solving problems rather than kvetching online. Thus, we scoured the web (basically Deviantart and Dribble) to find the best substitute iTunes 10 icons around.

Re-beautify your desktop and put an end to eyestrain, headaches and the general feeling of malaise that may accompany the use of the default icon with some of these replacements, showcased and linked in the gallery below.

Mac

For Mac users, Apple.com actually has a help document that outlines the steps needed to change an application or folder icon.

From that document:

To change an item’s icon to another one:

• Select the volume, application, folder, or file whose icon you want to stamp onto another, just click the icon to select it.
• From the File menu, choose Get Info or press Command-I to open the Info window.
• Click the icon in the upper-left corner of the Info window to select it.
• From the Edit menu, choose Copy or press Command-C.
• Select the volume, application, folder, or file whose icon you want to replace.
• From the File menu, choose Get Info or press Command-I.
• Click the icon in the upper-left corner.
• From the Edit menu, choose Paste or press Command-V to replace the icon.

Note: Mac users want to use the *.icns file type for icons. You can also use third-party programs like the fantastic CandyBar if you want more control over your icons and organizing sets of icons.

Windows

For Windows users, you want to use the *.ICO file type.

In Windows XP:

To change the icon to a shortcut for iTunes (assuming it is on your desktop)

• Right click the shortcut
• Select Properties
• Click on the “Customize” tab
• Press the “change icon button”
• In the selection window that opens up, select “browse”
• Find the location of your icon and open that folder or select the *.ICO file
• Press “OK” once you have chosen the icon you want to use

In Windows Vista and Windows 7:

• Right click on the desktop and select “Personalize”
• Click on the “Change Desktop Icons” item on the left hand side of that window
• Select your iTunes icon (this assumes it is on your desktop)
• Click the “Change Icon” button
• Select the icon your want to use in its place and press OK.
