I think as far as finding a base for responsive theming… I’m leaning to Twitter Bootstrap over Foundation. I like the JS features out of the box are an advantage and I like the LESS/SASS is already baked in. Even though it’s dated, this Quora question explains some issues http://dgt.ly/JQcjoQ Also people are doing some interesting things with bootstrap like this http://bootstrapwp.rachelbaker.me/ and this http://bootswatch.com/ plus services are emerging that might make this all irrelevant by handling a lot of decisions for you like http://factory.joshfire.com

Thanks for those Nicole Sullivan links, and I did see that Foundation article on A List Apart, I might have bookmarked it and tweeted it last week so I could go back and reference it later so it’s funny you bring it up again. An addition to the responsive resources:

At the meetup; someone had asked Sonja about responsive prototyping/wireframing for clients. There was an excellent article on ‘A List Apart’ last week: Dive into Responsive Prototyping with Foundation.

The Reverie Theme, which is built on Foundation, seems to be a great option for responsive protoyping and theme development on WordPress.

Hi Darin, thanks for the visit. Reverie looks interesting too, I’d never heard of it before. I’m definitely looking forward to getting familiar with it. Also, I want to dig into the principles Nicole Sullivan preaches as well. Are there any presentations online you can reference specifically. I agree the WordPress community is awesome. Apparently we’re an economic force :-)

Thanks for posting this awesome recap of Sonja and Jack’s informative presentations and providing additional resources. Sometimes the amount of information and tools available can be overwhelming. Gaining other developer’s insights is helpful in narrowing things down. I am fairly new to web development and WordPress but have learned an incredible amount in just 1 1/2 years thanks to the amazingly helpful WordPress community.

I am really interested developing super clean, efficient and semantic websites/themes. I have watched some good presentations on OOCSS with Nicole Sullivan. LESS also looks really logical for quicker and cleaner CSS. I am putting together my own basic and lightweight responsive framework to build my client sites upon and was recently looking into Foundation, or the WP version Reverie, and Bones for ideas. Good stuff!

Sonja and Jack: thanks again for your presentations and sharing your slides.
