God bless you Sir.
For me, bread I made from grain and hence Jesus Christ is the bread of life
New wine always has a limitation of still having an old wine skin, hence by the inspiration of the holy Spirit, I saw it as another of God's measure and ability in a person (seeing that the three ingredients are all tools for end time revival)
And lately for the oil, the holy Spirit is been referred to as the oil of the word.
So for a revival to happen, all these are not to be lacking.

Ay the Holy Spirit speak to you more as you read through... Amen

Solomon built the temple and used a lot of silver and gold, to demonstrate the preciousness of God and to put Him first. Hi! I just found out your post when I was Googling for its lyrics. I'm a 30 something lady, but the 1st time I heard this song was during our church's Vision Casting for 2023, and the music team played a different tempo or style to it. And I loved it ever since. It's a declaration of one's commitment to serve the Lord in MY generation, in the midst of my generation's confusion, loss of touch to the Sovereignty of the Almighty, and self-centeredness.

I completely disagree with the comment that said it's just not a good melody or that it's all me, me, me or that silver and gold are vague - We've been singing this song for over 30 years. Our people love it, it's timely, poignant, challenging. In fact, we're going to sing it this Sunday!

Over thinking again methinks :) how about approaching the ideas like this - our lives and what we do with them are a response to the love of God and are our worship. Anything we do that is going to last forever must most definitely have come from, and be within the holy purposes of God / pretty sure must of our ‘efforts’ are not everlasting except where we ‘only do what we see the father doing’ so personally going to keep expressing my love and joy to God and hope that maybe one little thing might be worthy enough to stand forever (bearing in kind all theological ifs ands and buts I expect you will reply to be with) - please take the ‘spirit’ and not the letter of what I’m trying to say :)

I’m 55 so I’m older as you say and I love this song - building with silver and gold is awash with metaphorical meanings - layers of meanings as well - not just one - makes me think of the refiners fire - the pure metals remain and the dross is burnt away - which is in line with the idea of the song. For me - the best bit is ‘I want to give my life for something that will last forever’ and I believe that would resonate in almost any generation especially as we’re all living in increasingly ‘frivolous’ (for want of a better word) times where more and more of our lives and environments are constructed, measured and utilised in the temporary, the fleeting and the disposable.

Many year ago I was to meet with a prophet and I take to him 5 fresh corn in the husk , new bottle non alcoholic wine , new bottle of extra Virgin olive oil.
He did not ask me to.
I did not know the meaning. I just did it.
He never says anything about it to me.

Thank you for your blog post! Reading Hosea 2:8&9. Broke my heart when I read it, using God's blessings "grain, new wine, oil, silver, gold" and it being prepared in worship of something else. Applying the word at a human level and national. Seems appropriate to to be taking this in on thanksgiving, especially in 2020, opening your eyes to all the things we have taken for granted.

Hello. Reading about Isaac blessing Jacob and I thought of the rich blessing that Isaac gives Jacob, specially "An abundance of grain and new wine..." Gen. 27: 28b. I asked myself if this was prophetically speaking, ultimately, about Jesus the "Seed" of Abraham that through Him "All the nations of the earth" are blessed? The Father's blessing, like Isaac to Jacob, means that ultimately our Father's blessing of Sonship will be His abundant salvation through His Son and the promised Holy Spirit, Luke 24: 47, Rom. 8: 15, our new wine, John 2: 10? So, Jesus is that One mentioned here in Genesis 27: 28 and also it is Jesus who provides for us and "Abundance of grain and new wine...", Himself and Holy Spirit. Blessings to you.

Just wanted to share that Grains does also bring a meaning of the word of God, fresh Manna in the prophetic meaning as well. As Grain, Fresh Oil, New wine all are ingredients for end-time revival. Fresh Oil also brings meaning of Fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit. Hope this gave you new insights. May the Holy Spirit give you a new revelation while you're reading this. =)
