Be the Pikes Peak of Filmmaking

In addition to the networking, ICVM is a great festival because there's always a fun outing planned. Designed to foster networking and deepening of relationships, the outings have included baseball games, trips to national parks, and golf games. (Well, if you're Brad Mix's friend, that is!)

This week we took the cog railway up to Pikes peak. It is #34 of the 50 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado. (The tallest is Mt. Elbert - not quite as catchy a name) On our return trip Mark asked our conductor why Pikes Peak was so famous if it's not the tallest mountain in Colorado. Are you ready for the answer?

Pikes Peak stands out ...

Connecting Christian Filmmakers at ICVM

It's Saturday morning. The last trophy has been handed out (thanks, Rachel!), the A/V equipment put away, and the conference signs are gone. But the conversations continue.

New friends and "old" colleagues linger in the hotel lobby or at the breakfast table sharing stories and learning more about each others' lives. Layne and I call it the "ICVM Afterglow."

You know how it is. You go to an event or church service that's so great you don't want to leave. The people you're with inspire and challenge you, and ...

Turkish television station Kanal T hopes the answer is a ratings success as it prepares to launch a gameshow where spiritual guides from the four faiths will seek to convert a group of non-believers.
...

Advice for Christian Filmmakers

Today at the ICVM Catalyst Conference, filmmakers received great advice from novelist Karen Kingsbury and producer John Shepherd (The Ultimate Gift). Both climbed to the top of their careers in different ways and have great experience to share.

From Karen: Follow your dream and don't give up on it. There are road signs and mile markers along the way if you'll just watch out for them. her dad and a college professor spoke into her life, and ...

New Release: Census And The Star - DVD

Explore the mysterious circumstances of Christ’s birth in this captivating look at the first Christmas.

Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem by order of the Emperor, Augustus Caesar. This census has long confounded historians seeking to reconcile the Bible with recorded history. The evidence to address that is both intriguing and insightful.

The mysteries continue when a star appears to announce the birth of the King of the Jews. What was the star? What did it look like? When did it appear? Foreign Magi, or Wise Men, saw the star and followed it to Jerusalem and Bethlehem seeking Jesus. These little-understood figures were among the first to discover Jesus in what was surely a life-changing, as well as history-making, event.

Explore the star as the Magi did, following it to better understand Christmas. Trace what the Magi did as they gazed into the night sky those thousands of years ago.

Find answers to these questions and more... What really happened on the first Christmas?

DVD Special Features:

Find Me: First Rate Indie Thriller

Aside from a few achingly long dialog scenes, Trost’s story moves briskly along from plot point to plot point—and in a fashion that makes this possibly the most compelling suspense film I’ve seen in the last year or so. ...

New Release: The Lost And Found Family - DVD

Sometimes a door closes... and a whole new world opens up.

Five guarded and confused foster children. Two loving, but weary, foster parents. One grieving former socialite. Put them all under one dilapidated roof and you get eight unique individuals in a house.

Or maybe, just maybe, it becomes the family they've all been longing for.

he Lost & Found Family is a touching story of hardship, change, and the faith that God can make things better, no matter how difficult the situation appears in our eyes.

Hardship and change can affect anyone—from children in a foster-care environment to well-to-do socialites. Sometimes it's systemic; other times it's instantaneous. Ester Hobbes has led the good life with her loving husband. But when Franklin suffers a fatal heart attack, her life changes dramatically.

ranklin's business dealings have left Ester with little beyond the clothes on her back ... and an unknown piece of rental property. Leaving the life she loves in Chicago, she heads to rural Georgia only to discover that the house she owns is the home of Tony and Ramona ... and their five foster children.

Barely able to make ends meet and knowing only God can help turn around the lives of their troubled foster children, the last thing Tony and Ramona are looking for is a live-in landlord ... especially when they discover Ester's lawyer has the house for sale.

After an extremely rocky start, Ester begins to befriend Crystal, Jasmin, Max, Justin, and Teri, along with their foster parents. But when word comes that the house has been sold to a developer, these fragile alliances are shattered.

In dire straits, Ester cries out to God for help. But is there enough time for Ester and her new "family" to save their home?

The Lost & Found Family reminds us that God brings out the best in us when we show His compassion to those in desperate need of love.
...
