For the rest of the 2013 show year, CHSA will continue with the existing policy that a show may award champion and reserve champion as first and second place horses in a designated championship class for horses/ponies have competed in a previous qualifying class. A show may offer one or two qualifying classes with placings of first through sixth and an additional ridden championship class with placings of champion, reserve champion, third through sixth.

Alternately if a show offers three classes in each of the pleasure divisions, the show may award division champion and reserve champion to the horse/pony with the highest number and second highest number of points accumulated in all the classes of the division, similar to the method used to determine champions and reserve champions in the hunter divisions. IF A SHOW WISHES TO AWARD PLEASURE DIVISION CHAMPION/RESERVE CHAMPION POINTS BASED ON POINTS WON INSTEAD OF A RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS, THE SHOW’S PRIZELIST MUST CLEARLY STATE THAT THE “PLEASURE CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE BASED ON POINTS”.

Please notice – to ensure potential exhibitors know which method of points will be followed, shows wishing to change their method of awarding pleasure champion/reserve
champion points should follow the following CHSA rule:

A 24 If a Show Committee finds it necessary to add divisions or classes originally listed in the printed prize list or to change the show location, the show manager shall request approval from the CHSA Show Relations Chairperson and the CHSA Rules and Protests Chairperson (or their designee) at least 30 calendar days prior to the show date.
Upon approval of Show Relations and Rules and Protests and at least 21 calendar days from the show date, the Show Manager must send an email to CHSA@CHSAonline.com notifying of the approved change(s) / addition(s) so that the CHSA website can be updated at least 14 calendar days prior to the show date.
In addition, all exhibitors on the original mailing list must be notified of the change(s) / addition(s) and the show’s website (if any) must be updated with the change(s) / addition(s) at least 14 calendar days prior to the show date.

NOTICE: It is the responsibility of the show manager to verify the required approvals and notifications have been accomplished.
It is the responsibility of members to check the web site, chsaonline.com, for show managers’ postings and changes.

CHSA Points will not count for classes or divisions added to a show less than 14 calendar days from the show date.

The 2012 CHSA Celebration of Champions Gala Event was held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at The Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT and attended by over 450 CHSA Members, Friends and Family.  This was the 80th CHSA Celebration of Champions Gala Event!

The Awards Banquet started with the Parade of Champions (Lead Rein and Walk-Trot Winners!) led by Ms. Kaitlyn Boggio, Ms. Harpur Schwartz and Ms. Paige Vinson.

Thirty Seven Year End Awards were presented along with a Raffle and “The Battle of The Barn Baskets” that raised money for the CHSA Scholarship Fund. View photos from the 2012 CHSA Awards Banquet.

The Battle of the Barn Baskets was won for the third straight year by Sarah Weaver, Chestnut Hill Show Stables. Sarah and Matt Belcourt create a zebra jump that everyone just had to have!

• Cash – You will need to bring cash for raffle tickets (we’ll take checks too), and drinks!
• Remember this is a celebration so dress to impress!  This is a dress-up affaire!
• Bring your camera..there will be no “official photographer”
• Walk Trot and Lead Liners receive a special gift but you need to be in banquet hall by 6:30pm!!!
• Parking is free!

This year’s banquet and awards ceremony will be held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT.  This beautiful central Connecticut location is famous for its award winning cuisine and friendly atmosphere. You are greeted by double staircases as you enter into the vestibule and pick up your pre-purchased dinner tickets. Held in the room known as Kaye’s Pier North, the glass doors around the perimeter of the room look out to a deck overlooking a pond with a fountain that is elegantly lit. The room is self con-tained with its own private bar and rest rooms and everything is conveniently located on the ground floor. The spacious parking lot accommodates any sized vehicle and is parking is free.

The evening will start at 6:00 PM with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar reception. At this time you may look over the silent auction items or distribute raffle tickets to your items of choice . If anyone is interested in donating items that are new and can be horse related or for children, please contact Kristen Guadagnino at 860–798-7249 .

The festivities begin at 7:00 PM with the Parade of Champions – the Lead Rein and Walk Trot 10 and under riders who have qualified at shows throughout the season. Once again we will show slides from winners of this year’s divisions showing during the night on big screens near the stage. Anyone wishing to have their winners shown up on the big screen, please submit all photos to Larry Schwartz at chsa@chsaonline.com by Friday, February 15, 2013.

This year will see the return of our almost famous “Challenge of the Barns” gift baskets. We are asking barns or groups of people to put together a themed basket to be raffled off during the night. Proceeds go towards our scholarship fund. The basket with the most votes will win a trophy.

The Dinners will include your choice of Fillet Mignon, Grilled Salmon, Chicken Française, Eggplant Par-mesan, and Chicken Tenders with fries for children under 12. We are working with the kitchen to come up with a scrumptious chocolate dessert. Fresh bread and salad as well as pasta will be served along with our main dinner choices. Tea, coffee and soda will be served also. The cash bar will be open throughout the evening.

Immediately following the awards the room will be cleared for the dancing ‘til midnight to the tunes of DJ “Tommy V” of Wallingford.

For folks who wish to make an excursion of the eve-ning, arrangements have been made with the Comfort Suites at 64 Knotter Drive Southington, CT for a special rate of $99.00 (non-smoking), including a hot breakfast (from 7:00-10:00 AM). The hotel also has a heated pool. The hotel is right at Exit 27 off I-84 ap-proximately 2 miles from Aqua Turf. Directions to Aqua Turf (about 2 miles away), are available at the hotel and on chsaonline.com.
