Preschool Summer Fun Nights

Summer Fun Nights!

Wed June 6 – 6:30-8pm

Water play night at COM on the preschool playground. Come in your swim suit, bring a towel. We will have sprinklers, splash pools, water table, spray bottles, water painting. Let’s have some fun! This is for our little ones all the way up to our friends going into kindergarten.

Wed July 11 6-8:30pm

Movie night! We will be watching Up (think VBS Sky theme!) and enjoying some popcorn. Bring a pillow and a friend. Preschoolers ages 2-5 and kids will be meeting together in the COM preschool building room 5. There will be infant care during this time for any parents attending the 1st Wed class.

Sun July 29 4-6pm

Family Fun Night – An evening at the pool. We will meet at the West Chandler Aquatic Center on Kyrene between Chandler Blvd and the 202. Sundays from 4-6 is free familyswim at this pool.

Wed Aug 1 6-8:30pm

Fun with Music Night – come to the COM preschool building room 3 for a night of exploring music. This is for preschoolers ages 2-5. There will be infant care during this time for any parents attending the 1st Wed class.

Vacation Bible School

At Vacation Bible School, June 24-28, we will explore how everything is possible with God – Mark 10:27 at SKY VBS. VBS will be at Church on Mill from 6:15-8:30pm. Preschoolers ages 3-5 are welcome to register. Registration is online at www.churchonmill.com/vbs. You may use that sight to volunteer to help too. We need many Crew Leaders to help guide a small group of preschoolers or children through the VBS stations. T Shirts will be available for purchase for $5 child sizes and $8.50 adult sizes.

Preschool Choir Update

It has been confirmed that the preschool choir will be singing on Sunday, April 22 during the worship service. This gives us two weeks to practice, practice, practice! Because I want to give the children time to rehearse in the sanctuary, we are actually going to begin practicing in there this week.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU: We need to begin our rehearsal time promptly. Because our song will only sound right if everyone is present , it would be nice if your children could be at the church at 6pm. This will allow us ample time for our opening and time to get to the worship center for rehearsal.

Mission Friends

March-April 4th : As part of the NAMB emphasis on church planting we will learn about Kurt and Rhonda Simon and their 5 boys who work with 40 church planters in Missouri. The church plants are a diverse group including inner city, cultural creative, suburban, cowboy, rural, traditional, house and network. Mr. Simon serves as the pastor at Canvas, located in downtown Springfield, which serves the community not only as a church but also as an art gallery and arts incubator.

April 9-May 2: We will focus on South Asia with an emphasis on our friends Tim, Susan, Sarah and Sam. Susan will visit our class on May 2. Our friends are focused on reaching the many unreached and unengaged people groups that live on their island.

May 9th will be a fun night as our last night of the semester.

Teachers update

Just wanted to give everyone updates on our staffing needs for the spring in our Preschool Ministry.

Christina Moore and Emily Felix will both need maternity leave. Christina teaches preschool church the first Sunday of each month. She will need a sub for May and June. Emily teaches toddler Sunday School on the odd numbered months and will need a sub for March and May.

Lesley Murphy’s last month for teaching 4/K Sunday School is February. Kamber, the co-teacher isn’t available to teach the class until April, so we need a teacher for March and then someone who would co-teach every other month with Kamber.

The baby Sunday School class also needs Sunday School teachers, teaching every other month.

If you can help out one Sunday, one month, or would like to become a regular teacher please contact Andrea Heaton. Training will be provided and we have curriculum to help you in lesson planning.

Wednesday night classes begin

Preschool Choir, Mission Friends, and baby/toddler child care begin again on Wed. Jan 11.

Choir begins at 6pm in preschool building room 3 with Jennifer Hall and Alexis Cabrera. Choir is a time for your preschooler to experience praising God through songs and instruments. The choir does sing in worship a few times a year.

Mission Friends begins at 6:30 in preschool building room 5 with Joni Ward and Stephen Shelton. Mission Friends ends at 8pm. Preschoolers experience life in various cultures as they explore different countries and states and how our missionaries are sharing God’s love. Our preschoolers will have mission action projects throughout the semester to encourage them in sharing God’s love with others.

Child care for baby/toddlers is provided in room 1 from 6-8pm with Sonya Hernandez and Kamber Maine.

Preschool Promotion

Preschool promotion is coming up on Sunday, January 1. Our preschoolers promote in both January and June each year. If you child has had a birthday since June he/she will promote. If your child’s birthday is in January you have the option of promoting now or waiting until June. Please let Andrea know your preference.

If your child is promoting to the 3 year old group he/she will now begin attending preschool church during the worship time. Please pick up your child after Sunday School at 10:30. Your child will attend the music portion of worship with you. Then before the sermon time the preschoolers are dismissed to the patio where they will meet their teacher and go to room 5 of the preschool building.

If your child is promoting to the 2 year old group he/she may now attend Mission Friends on Wednesday nights. Mission Friends will resume on January 11 at 6:30pm.

Mission Friends

Mission Friends had a visit from Amy. Amy’s family lives in a place where they try to show Jesus’ love to people who don’t know God. Amy brought an outfit people in her region may wear so the kids could see that underneath the clothing she is a person made in the image of God just like they are. Pray for Amy and her family as they return in a few months to the country they serve.

Talk with your Mission Friend preschoolers about being made in the image of God and what that means. Ask them about who they know who needs to know that Jesus loves them. Talk about ways to show Jesus love to others where you live.

We have a few openings for teachers and helpers in the preschool ministry. If you are interested in serving in one of these areas please let Andrea Heaton know.

Baby Sunday School teacher – 9:30-10:30 Sundays, every third month

2/3 year old Sunday School teacher – 9:30-10:30, every other month

Worship Care Helpers – one helper in the 2′s, one helper in the toddlers – help one Sunday every 8 weeks

Training will be provided. Background check and interview required. Must be over 18.
