For example, tonight, I made this rosemary thyme cream cheese spread. I should have just gotten out an average sized mixing bowl and my hand mixer, and blended all the ingredients together. It would have taken five seconds. But I decided I didn't want to wash the stupid little beater thingies and a big bowl and then have to wash the smaller bowl later on when the spread was all gone (stupid.) So I just plopped the cream cheese in this smaller bowl, the one i would be serving it out of at dinner tomorrow, and mixed the other ingredients in with a big fork. It took so long and I got stuff everywhere. Ugh.

And I hate cleaning out the stupid strainers in the sink. I just got these oxo ones, which makes it a lot easier and way less disgusting, but it's still totally yuck.

<img alt="dishes. (remember?) Then the contractors took too long, and it was too close to baby time, and I didn't want my house under construction with a newborn baby. Man, we were so close. Measured and planned and everything!

Well, damn it, we are getting a new kitchen this year. With a dishwasher AND a garbage disposal. (Right, Greg?!) And it will be so amazing. And I don't throw the word "amazing" around like some people do. 2010 will be The Year of the New Kitchen.

<3 Lindsay

P.S.

I re-joined the YMCA two days ago, since Vada is now old enough to stay in the nursery. Shaz and I went to do a cycling class yesterday, so we dropped the babies off at the nursery for the first time. I was expecting the worst, since Vada has some stranger anxiety, (and since she cries every time I leave the room) but when I dropped her off, she seemed great! Well, apparently she started crying a little while after I left and pretty much cried off and on the whole time I was gone. Poor little girl.

Is it insensitive to say that I wasn't really phased by this, and that I definitely plan on bringing her to the nursery all the time while I work out? Next time, I'll let them know to just rock her in the carseat and ignore her for a while until she falls asleep. She's not a cuddly baby; rocking her and holding her aren't going to make her feel better when she starts freaking out like that. The only thing that works is leaving her alone and letting her cry for a few minutes. Sounds bad, but that's just how she is. And I'll try to do a better job of scheduling my workout time around her naps.

I think it's good for her to be around other people for a little while, and it's good for me too! It's a bummer that we had a rocky start, but I'm going to keep at it. Hopefully she will get used to it and eventually I think she will end up having a great time playing while mommy gets some exercise.

So, if you see me in a few weeks and I am in tip-top shape, you will know that I have been taking advantage of my free 2 hour a day babysitter at the YMCA :)

weheartit.
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/cicuska/~4/LLrBNGnI5iQ" height="1" width="1" />

It's way way wayyyyyy harder and more frustrating than I ever imagined it would be. It gets lonely, too.

As she is getting older, things are getting better, but they're still not great. Vada has always been a very high maintenance baby. Luckily, she is becoming more content and can sometimes play with toys and things by herself for a few minutes (!) I just have to involve her in every single thing I do because she cries every time i leave the room. It's so hard to get things done.

An analogy of how I feel about my job as as work-at-home mom: It's like i FINALLY got my dream job!
