Troubleshooting your Ipod 101

For the past week, I've been having trouble with my ipod classic, Portia. Fifth gen I think. At first I thought it was a problem with synchronizing it with the laptop, it wasn't. It was more than just sync problems. The problem was laptopwasn't reading ipod at all! There was nothing to open in My Computer, cos it wasn't there. That's a major deal for me cos I use ipod as backup for my files too. After going through troubleshooting assistance in google, I finally found one that works.

First of all, this was my problem (apparently):

iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date

And I almost ignored this at first.

But it did work! All this time it was the USB driver that was the problem. Not my ipod, not my cable, not my itunes.

And now it's all shiny. Weeee!

Hello everyone! Guess what, I still am alive!

I most probably lost all 2 people who used to read my blog after my almost 2 months of hiatus. I seem to have forgotten how to write since I moved here. Unless writing includes saying things like "ambulation over level surface c RW x 150 ft c SBA..." Boring work stuff I tell you.

Actually, most of my time has been spent in flickr. So please visit ME!

Today's post made me remember this blog.

See Pillow and the Pink Pillow Monster there? The Pillow lost an eye way back in that snowy place. Now that we're in sunny Florida, maybe I should make him an eye patch, make him a pirate or something, yes?

New things going on right now, I am renting my own place (uber expensive, killing me slow), I got myself a car (other wrist slashed), I have friends here (woot!), surprising given I knew absolutely nobody when I got here. I'm currently living in a small town with one mall, two Wallmarts, a few gas stations, and a bridge away from the party place.

Today's weekend plan is to get drunk.

But enough about me, how you doing?

One of the things I miss most is getting to places easily. This is not a commuters place. The nearest mall, by car, is only 15 minutes away; but by bus, is an hour long. That is not very convenient. The nearest outlet mall is about an hour and a half away.

Thank goodness Barnes&Noble is a bit nearer to our place. At least there's a convenient book place around. Of course I can also get my fill of fiction and children's books online, so at least the looking should be easy. If I get really lazy I could also get my clothes online. Most of these things are pretty accessible in online, if you only know where to look. Everything from clothes to books to activity sets can be found easily. There are sites where you can even sort it by brand and price range. I jjust bought a couple of shirts from Wet Seal, and I think they're uber cute. Unfortunately I wouldn't be anywhere near the place for the next week, so at least I have an option to get more clothes. Not that I should do. It's hard enough trying to stuff all my things in my luggages. I still am waiting to be shipped off to wherever I'm supposed to work in.

In the meantime, I better get myself ready to take my driver's exam. Urgh.

Relationships hate me

GIven all the free time I have, you'd think I'd have more blog posts right? Unfortunately, when you're living with other people who bums around as much as you, you have to mingle. Also flickr is taking up too much of my time lately. Taking pictures is more fun than writing.

Now for something random (or not).

Relationships hate me. I think. I saw a plurk the other day about people feeling they don't deserve to be in a relationship, and I sortof' get that. Being in one mess after another doesn't exactly inspire confidence in relationship skills. Or maybe it's just my people skills that sucks. This is funny coming from someone who used to teach pre-school. Or maybe I'm blaming this on attachment issues. Blegh! I have too much issues.

I'm serious about attachment issues though. I dont like liking people too much. Cos I have this nutty belief that they'd leave eventually, and that's there's no point of geting attached when I'm just going to be left behind. Insane, I know. So how do I deal with this? I dish out crap. Seriously. I drive people against the wall, and well, don't stop til they run far, far away. Then I'd be sane again, and realize that I've been acting crazy, but also figure out that it was bound to happen eventually, and that this is actually better. Less time spent, less attachment. Also, I'm very good with rationalizing. It's a skill.

You'd have to wonder at this point why I even still have friends. Surprisingly, I still do. Yes, they're nuts too.

There are days when I wish I'm normal.

I've been neglecting this blog for a while now. Considering the amount of free time that I have, this is pretty surprising.

So there was the trip to DC last last weekend.

Also been wasting time on the series True Blood. Basically, blood, bewbs and secks in a nutshell. After a few episodes, it gets old. Who'd have thougth right? The girls are pretty, but annoying. Sookie Stackhouse, the blonde telepath, is pretty much like an older version of Bella. Minus the my world revolves around "Edward". Her bff, Tara (I think her name is), is supposedly this black, witty girl who has too much angst, but she comes off as major trying hard to be too good for everyone, and not at all witty. I'd prolly watch the whole season thought, given I've dl-ed the whole thing. bah!

Post-valentine post about valentine's

So valentine's came last saturday, and we can all predict what happened then. Lots of flowers were killed to show your love. People gave fat-laden chocolates to loved ones. For sure, all the motels are packed all day. And lingerie sales probably boosted up too. Let me correct that, not just lingerie, sexy lingerie.

Enough with the bitterness, valentine's day wasn't so bad for me here in far away. Food always makes things better. And what better food place to go to than

I had lunch there with the housemates. tell me if this doesn't make up for the lack of having someone to cuddle this day:

four cheese pasta, chicken madeira, pecan turtle cheesecake (or something like it), and dulce de leche cheesecake

The rest of the day was spent embrassing myself in the mall in front of a videocam. No, don't ask. But I did get a fugly big bag for my effort.

So I'm getting used to this noworktilidieofboredom again. Seems to keep happening to me at least every year (cos yeah, preschool and break has sem breaks like that). I do know I am so going to die when I get back to work again and find out on my first day that my brain has atrophied into a peanut.

This post has a point. I just forgot it. Gad! peanut-sized brain I tell you. And it's only almost a month.

So what have I been doing aside from the non-stop eating which only makes the tummy bigger and nothing else (bah!), and the sleeping at random hours of the day, and the driving the boyfie crazy with sudden outbursts aimed to make him crazier than I am? Absolutely nothing. Thank goodness for the project365 camwhoring (yes, again with the shameless shameless plugging), something actually occupies my time. Of course I could also spend the time reading handouts sitting in my bag for weeks now so brain wouldn't actually completely disappear, but I'm just not in the mood. I will hopefully be in the mood soon though. What with the NY trip this weekend being cancelled and all. Annoying, annoying, annoying. I hate it when my plans don't push through. I'm a little OC that way. I like my schedules, they're neat and FIXED.

Also, advance Happy Hearts Day people. This should've been the first valentine I could've actually spent with someone, if he wasn't like a few thousand miles away from where I am! It's the thought that counts, but bah! Still sucks. I will hopefully get the hang of this cos it does get a little bit frustrating, and its only been a few weeks. *sigh* Must be all the things I don't know getting to me. I hate, hate not knowing how things are supposed to end. I like the knowing, it's my comfort zone. I'm so far from my comfort zone right now, I'm turning into an emotional mess. Every little thing just bugs me. How dare he says this, how could he think that, why doesn't he know this about me yet. All those little trivial bits that just blows out of proportion. Messy, messy, messy. Not that I was completely stable before... whole different story.

Having this too much free time in my hand is bad for me. I better start getting busy soon.

What to do with paintballs

I first found out about paintball, not in paintball forums, but in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. You know the farm-like scene where Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger played peek-a-boo behind some hay, while throwing paint balloons on each. That did it for me. I wanted to try paintball. Unfortunately, that's not how it was back where I was. A few years ago, my friend told me all about his paintball game experience. Long story short: the game was short but extremely fun. He ended up with aching legs, and couldn't really go up the stairs for the next 2 days or so. Apparently, they had all this gear strapped on them, not just the labsuit-look-alike I saw in the movie, and they shoot the paintball through guns. I found some of these things too in scenario paintball forums. I just hope I get to try this thing out in this lifetime.

Last friday was "let's be friends with our neighbors day".

Okay, so neighbor just meant townhouse on the otherside of the drive, but they brought food so we're friends.

Sisig was yummy! Funny thing how all the girls all went to the living room for chismis fest, and the guys stayed in the kitchen and talked about marketting over tequilla bottle.

Now, on a different day, I would be where the tequilla bottle is, but I wasn't in the mood for those people. Yes, I'm evil and anti-scoial, and I was only there for the food. Also, this was my place too.

Next day was "shop til we're broke day". Got myself some shirts, a jacket and boots! Not sure if it's such a good idea now that snow seems to be over, and weather seems to get better, but I'm sure I'll need it. If weather stays great til next week, i can wear my dress to New York. weee!
