Endlich draußen: Das heiß erwartete neue Mixtape von Mac Miller, K.I.D.S – Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Shit. Die Erwartungen waren hoch und wurden größtenteils auch erfüllt. Natürlich besitzt nicht jeder Track das Hit-Potential eines “Nikes On My Feet”, aber das Level wird konstant hoch gehalten. Im Vergleich zu seinen beiden bisherigen Mixtapes hat ein deutlicher Qualitätssprung in Sachen Produktion stattgefunden, der zugleich für mehr Abwechslung sorgt. Runterladen, aufdrehen, abfeiern!

Auf der Comic-Con in San Diego hat der Film allerdings gehörig Buzz generiert, die Riege der Schauspieler liest sich gut und die letzte Szene des Trailers ist zugegebenermaßen ziemlich cool, weshalb ich die Hoffnung hege, dass “Skyline” zusammen mit “Monsters” der neue “Indie-Sci-Fi” Welle, die “District 9″ und “Moon” im vergangenen Jahr losgetreten haben, gebührend weiter tragen.

Wenn Hype-Act 2009 von Hype-Act 2010 geremixt wird fangen die Musikblogs natürlich an zu sabbern. Hat in diesem Fall aber auch wirklich glänzend funktioniert, denn der Penguin Prison Remix von Passion Pit’s “Little Secrets” macht aus dem Song eine geschmeidige Disco-Nummer der Marke DFA. Bester Remix der vergangenen Wochen!

Zumindest ein kleines Sommerlöchlein muss es dann wohl doch geben, wenn das ganze Internet über den ersten Teaser zum Horrorstreifen “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark” berichtet, der ohne seinen namhaften Produzenten Guillermo Del Toro vermutlich unter Direct-to-DVD verbucht worden wäre. Die Story ist eher unoriginell und schnell erzählt – Kurzfassung: junge Familie, altes Haus, Dämonen.

“Sally Hurst (Bailee Madison), a lonely, withdrawn child, has just arrived in Rhode Island to live with her father Alex (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) at the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the sprawling estate, the young girl discovers a hidden basement, undisturbed since the strange disappearance of the mansion’s builder a century ago. When Sally unwittingly lets loose a race of ancient, dark-dwelling creatures who conspire to drag her down into the mysterious house’s bottomless depths, she must convince Alex and Kim that it’s not a fantasy—before the evil lurking in the dark consumes them all.”

Das damals fürs Fernsehen produzierte Original aus dem Jahr 1973 scheint allerdings ein kleines Horror-Kleinod zu sein, weshalb man dem Remake zumindest mal auf dem Schirm behalten kann. Außerdem gibt es wie eingangs gesehen ein schickes Poster und das Label “Produced by Guillermo Del Toro” ist auch deutlich vielversprechender als “Presented by Quentin Tarantino”. Wer sich für den Kurzfilm “Latchkey’s Lament” des Regisseurs Troy Nixey interessiert, der ausschlaggebend für sein Engagement bei “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark” war, wird bei YouTube fündig (Teil 1 & Teil 2).

Bereits seit längerem ist Hornbach in meinen Augen ein Musterbeispiel für gelungene Werbung, die den Zuschauer als potentiellen Kunden ernst nimmt und versucht, ihn mit Cleverness und Charme für sich zu gewinnen (Beispiel). Dies freut mich deshalb besonders, da das Unternehmen seinen Ursprung in meinem beschaulichen Heimatstädtchen hat. Als ich erfuhr, dass nun sogar ein knapp 10-minütiger Kurzfilm erscheinen sollte, war folglich mein Interesse geweckt.

Mittlerweile wurde das Filmchen mit dem Titel “Das grenzenlose Haus” offiziell veröffentlicht, und das Ergebnis kann sich durchaus sehen lassen. Für die Regie zeichnet sich Woof Wan-Bau verantwortlich, dessen kreatives Oeuvre bereits feine Musikvideos für Bands wie Mogwai und Four Tet umfasst. Als Inspiration dienten augenscheinlich der wirklich tolle Schweppes Kurzfilm “Signs” sowie die Werke von Michel Gondry. Weitere Infos findet ihr auf der offiziellen Facebook-Page.

Kommen wir zu dem Teil, bei dem ihr etwas gewinnen könnt: Anlässlich der Veröffentlichung des Kurzfilms verlose ich 20 Exemplare des Hornbach Projekt-Buchs “Es gibt immer was zu tun”. Die Rezensionen bei Amazon sind durchweg positiv; besonders für eher unerfahrene Heimwerker scheint es eine echte Hilfe zu sein. Adam Kesher – Hundred Yeas Later
Adam Kesher liefern zwar schon seit Jahren beständig gute Tracks und haben neben diversen EPs auch schon ein Album veröffentlicht, der Durchbruch wollte den Franzosen aber nicht so wirklich gelingen. Mit einem neuen Album in den Startlöchern, bei dem sich für die Produktion die namhaften Brüder Dave 1 (Chromeo) und A-Trak verantwortlich zeichnen, könnte sich das allerdings vielleicht schon bald ändern.

Chromeo – Don’t Turn The Lights On
Chromeo waren für mich das Highlight auf dem diesjährigen Melt! Festival, und ich hoffe inständig, dass die beiden im Zuge der Veröffentlichung ihres neuen Albums endlich auch mal für eine Clubtour nach Deutschland kommen werden. Das neue Video der Jungs ist wie immer sehr gelungen.

The Hundred in the Hands – Pigeons
“Dressed in Dresden”, die Debütsingle von The Hundred in the Hands, hätte man seinerzeit wohl “Smash-Hit” genannt und auf sämtliche Hitparaden-Sampler gepresst. “Pigeons” ist zwar nicht ganz so eingängig und wirkt trotz ähnlich treibendem Beat etwas ruhiger, geht aber letztlich doch in eine ähnliche Richtung.

Doch genug von “300″, schließlich hat Synder danach mit “Watchmen” eindrucksvoll bewiesen, dass er Comic-Verfilmungen beherrscht. Die Tagline seines neuen Filmes “Sucker Punch” lautet “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”, womit man mich natürlich bereits so gut wie am Haken hat. Der erste Trailer kommt dann auch dementsprechend badass daher.

“Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.
