By the time I got there, the police were already blocking off the pathway to the center where the demonstrations were taking place facing the bank of England, so the first pictures I took were the scenes of the police blocking the entrance. Then I went to the other side, where vehicles had stopped and everything was getting crowded. Most of the pictures were from down the street.

The atmosphere was quite carnival like at first there were a lot of drums, a lot of music, people in quite good spirits, a big police presence as well. As time went on, it started to get a bit more rowdy. Things were starting to get stirred a little bit, nothing too much. Some people climbed up the walls, and climbed up bus stops. Eventually the police started to pushing us further and further back to the Threadneedle Street as people were getting more rowdy. Towards the end, standing in front of me there was a police line and a little bit of skirmish, and people were saying that someone’s head was bleeding, I couldn’t see directly. I would say there definitely were some skirmishes going on at the end, but I didn’t see anything violent.

There seem to be a few different placards from where I could see. So there were the transsexual pictures, there were anti-capitalist demonstrations; there was a placard against the war in Iraq. There was one against Harper, over the anarchist’s flag. There was a protest against bankers and then there were a lot of climate change posters as well. So it was a bit of a mix", our Citizenside contributor said.
