Ours figured it out pretty quick. Once one gets it, the rest pick it up quickly. We used to bring them over and tap the metal with them watching to see the drips.

Do the chickens know what to do? I will be installing one of these in each of my areas but my concern was that they wouldn't figure it out...

Well pressed is nice, but the flowers do look slightly different and you have to be careful or they will break and fall apart. I will probably go with pictures because I want the kids to understand that a lot of Calgary is protected and they can't pick whatever they want. Maybe when they are older and can better understand the difference between protected and not protected we can press flowers, or with things we grow. Most of the people in our home school group were not raised to respect nature and protected areas, and the kids often pick whatever they want. They even were picking flowers in the conservatory at the zoo!

We actually have some of the flowers above being pressed right now! I can't decide if I want to use pictures or the pressed flowers or both, but I really like the idea of having an album or journal of some sort.

When we were young we picked and dried flowers with Shirley (before Nose Hill was protected). I kept them in an album. I have been planning on doing this with the kids, but with close up pictures, so they can have a flowers they have seen identification book.
